Red burning Scrotum

I have just started with this problem in the last 2 months. I am 39, heavy set, white, generally healthy.

Here is some history.... I had a bout with prostatitis beginning mid august and was put on 30 days of levaquin, a very strong antibiotic and made it my body go nuts. Joint pain, constipation/diahrea, itchy skin...

Towards the last week of the levaquin this rash started on my scrotum. Just before the scrotal rash, I also had a fungal infection on my face which cleared up with an anti fungal/steroid prescribed by a dermatologist.

I have tried 2 anti fungals on my scrotum one did nothing the one with miconizoyle inflamed the scrotum and put me in hell for 3 days. it finally calmed down to where it was bearable I went to my GP and he said it could be stress or in my head and gave me a sctipt for lotrimin with betemethasone, after 3 applications - MAJOR FLARE UP.

My scrotum is hot, red, and its always tight. Also if I let it go, it gets scaley in addition to the irritation.

I have had red inflamed patches on either side of my sack and across the top of the base of the penis. When it flares up the whole sack is effected and becomes inflamed, gets red hot and itchy. Lately the perenium is also affected - hot itchy, burning.

My GP then prescribed a mild steroid cream which causes the symptoms to calm down, after 3 days my scrotum was back to normal so I stopped using it. 2 days later a full flare up and the fungus is back on my face. I have read where steroid creams can calm a fungal infectin down and they will return after a few days of not using the steroid cream.

I dont know what to do now... this is not im my head and it is a very real issue. I cant sleep and I worry about it all the time. its very uncomfortable.. I am hoping someone on here can give me some advice on what to do.

I am considering trying a mixture of tea tree oil and lavendar oil that I found as a suggestion on a website. I just want this to go away!

Help!!!

Hi

Does this sound similar?

Petroleum is one of my main remedies in 'jock itch' and recurrent genital herpes. I had a forty-two year-old male patient with a seventeen year history of chronic prostatitis. All allopathic treatments including several urethral stricture operations still left him with constant prostate discomfort, burning 'hot spots' in the urethra on urination and ejaculation, severe intertrigo, and a red, irritative rash on the glans. He only felt better while on Cipro. The symptoms would return shortly after stopping the antibiotic. Petroleum in high potency would give only short term relief. I put the patient on Petroleum D6 twice daily. His symptoms have been very relieved.

Every thing need not tally, but look at the main essence.

Prostatitis, coupled with genital herpes (intertrigo, red irritative rash),antibiotics didn't help etc

I had a full round of STD testing for herpes et al... Everything was negative. My prostatitis was cleared up withthe antibiotics. I think its more of a fungal thing or maybe some sort of infection. Are you suggesting that the petroleum will help?

Rick12341 last decade
Antibiotics only suppress the problem. They never cure.

Forget about the word herpes, and see whether the description of the problem matches.

Yes, its rash like, red, inflamed, and if I dont apply the steroid cream for a few days it gets 'scaley' with a brownish color. I occasionally have hot spots in my urethra during urination and I do occasionally have some discomfort after ejaculation but I am pretty much abstaining as I dont know if this is contagious!

O.K

Try petroleum 6c liquid potency twice a day for a week.

Mix two drops of the liquid in about 15ml. of water and stir well to make a dose.

when you take the next dose stir for a little more time.
With each dose you have to increase the stirring time.

If you stir with a spoon 5 times first, 10 times next..15 times..20 times etc.

Report back after a week.

I will have to order the petroleum. Should I discontinue the steroid cream?

Thanks!! maybe this will give me some relief!

Rick12341 last decade
Yes. You have to discontinue the steroid immediately.

OK. One other question... Do I drink the mixture or apply it to the skin?

Rick12341 last decade
Drink it. Don't apply any thing to the skin.

I have taken the petrol for 2.5 days now. The burning seems to be somewhat improved in that its intensity is lower and the bitting feeling has diminished. The redness and inflamation is still there. When I originally posted the problem was only on my scrotum, not it seems to be migrating to my groin and upper thigh. Also, the last 2 days I have been having bouts with light headedness where I feel very weird and disoriented for a few minutes and yesterday my upper right chest was burning for about 2 hours... I almost went to the hospital, it just suddenly stopped? It felt like I had a fire in my upper lung. I dont know if any of this is related or if its just stress from the original problem.

If you feel very uncomfortable, stop taking the medicine and observe for a day.

its not too bad, I can tolerate it at this point. Its better than it was... how long should I continue the Petroleum? Is sulphur indicated here?

Rick12341 last decade
As long as you are stirring it more than the previous time, you can continue upto a week.

However stop in case if you feel uncomfortable and report here.

We will reassess the situation after a week.

We will think of Sulphur too, but not now.

Don't apply anything to the skin.

Its been a week. The petroleum has definately helped with the irritation and burning. I went back and saw my GP last week, he took a sample and I have a fungal infection. What are homeopathis remedies for ridding myself of a fungal infection?

Rick12341 last decade
What are the symptoms left as on now?

Compare to the position before you took petroleum.

It spread from the scrotum to the groin area and under the scrotum before I started the petroleum. The redness is still there and the burning is only in one area now and its a lot less intensity than it was. The redness seems to have lessened a bit in some arreas but is worse in others. It almost lookslike the fungus is spreading away from the scrotal area to the groin and upper thigh. The border is bright red, and its clearly defined.

Rick12341 last decade
O.K.

continue the medicine for one more week.

Meanwhile procure these two medicines which may be required for follow up.

Petroleum 30c, Rhustox 30c.

gavinimurthy last decade
I will. I ordered the Rhustox and Petroleum as directed. It only took 3 days to get them. Should I take them the same way? 2 drops in water ?

Rick12341 last decade
Don't take them now.

Continue with 6c for a week more.

We will decide what do, after reassessing the position then.

I am only suggesting them to keep them on hand.

Rick,

I am not a homeopath but fungal infections and fungal allergies are not easy to get rid of. They keep coming back and difficult to permanentaly get rid of them. It takes time.

I would like to make a suggestion which you can continue with your homeopathic treatment, it won't interfere. I am not sure which part of the world you are located at. Buy some Arabic Oregano (no other local Oregano, only Arabic) and take a spoonful and pour it in about 1 liter water and boil the water, let it cool & use a stainer to collect liquid/solution only. Use this solution to wash the affected area & you should get relief immediately, within 24hours or less. You can sprinkle the Arabic Oregano on your food and eat it too.

If you do this, please post your findings.

Rajan - Thanks for your suggestion, I will see if I can get the arabic oregano... I am in the USA. This situation is most frustrating and incredibly stressful.

Rick12341 last decade
I found some 'Origanum vulgare Origin- Turkey' - is that Arabic oregano?
