Daughter very poor eater.

My daughter is 2-1/2 years old. She has been a very poor eater since I switched her from breastmilk to formula milk when she was 9 months old. She is mostly under 20th percentile. She is also very fussy about what she likes. She has started to go to a babysitter since the last 2 months as I have started working. Ever since she just won't eat and will drink only 2 ounces of milk in the whole 8 hrs. She has have lost weight too. She won't eat fruits, vegetables cookies. She won't even drink any kind of juice. I have started giving her liv52(ayurvedic medicine) 1 tablet twice daily.

Please advise as to how her appetite can be increased.

Thanks

How is your daughter? Sabra

Sabra,
Thanks for asking. I haven't started with the medicine FERRUM PHOS that was suggested in the thread about "small son with poor appetite".

My baby was born after a full term. She vomits only when she has severe cough. She does catch cold easily and it results in atleast 4-5 days of fever.

Her pediatrician suggested giving Nestle Instant carnation added to milk. I have been doing this for the last one year. Now she drinks milk only if it is added. She has also started suffering from constipation which I believe is due to drinking only milk.

I am at a loss to understand what might be the root cause for her lack of appetite.

You forgot the most impt sym. First the repeat fever, and when a small child has a cough that results in vomiting, it calls for Homeopathic IPECACUANHA. (yes, ipecac, but NOT over counter stuff) H. Ipecac is to stop excessive vomiting, or when follows cough. Do not act on this until we talk about whole child. I will follow with her bowels, etc. First fever.

Now, start with the fever and explain the progress, from point to point. When does cough show? How does she act in fever, look like, dry, sweaty, color of face,

Stop the antibiotics, they are supressing the problem and it reoccures. She will become so risistant that if she REALLY ever needs one she will not respond.

You did not realize how H works and was concerned about her poor eating. I would guess that her throat or ears hurt and that may be the problem.

Please post with sym in order and lets heal the whole child. I will be here off and on for next 3-4 hours. Sabra

Sabra,

The fever generally starts alongwith a severe runny nose and her eyes seem to get slightly swollen. It lingers aroung 101 to 102 and lasts for 3-4 days. I immediately give her childrens tylenol to control it. Last year when she was about 18 months old she got ear infection twice. She was then prescribed with antibiotics by her pediatrician. Other than that I have never given her any antibiotics. Tylenol flu or Tylenol cold and cough are the only only medicine that I give her to control her fever and runny nose. When her fever seems to taper off, the cough starts. I give her childrens delsym. During the fever, she justs stops eating. She won't take anything over hours and loses weight. She looks very pale and tired. Last time when she got fever I observed that she was sweating about 1/2 hr after giving the medicine and the fever started reducing.

During normal days too she is a very choosy and poor eater. Her constipation problem also started recently. I am trying to reduce the milk quantity that she is drinking. She is yet passing stools after a gap of a day or so and does have trouble passing stools.

I am beginning this post for the second time, having just lost it.

I just do not know how to impress upon you the total useless use of Tylenol and other things of this nature. They are actually harmful. There is suppression, which LOOKS good but is a lie.

Your child has a continual throat/ear/sinus infection. It only SEEMS to get better.

If she is hot and dry and still wants to be covered, it is BELLADONNA. If she has more stomach problems and diarrhea and kicks off covers, it is CARBO VEG. If she is irritable and has headache, it is BRYONIA.

If she has dry lips with a big crack in bottom lip, it is NATRUM MUR. If she is always chilly and has green mucus, it is HEPAR SULPH. If you are smart and decide to have these remedies on hand in your home, add Apis M and Sulphur to the list.

Besides the fact that she is sad from being separated from you, her continual infection has probably taken away her sense of smell and taste.

You must treat this infection before other things follow. Her constipation is the lack of other foods. I have suggestions about the milk, but as that is the only thing she eats, not good to change at this time. Add a tablespoon of Karo syrup to the milk. (not per bottle, per half gallon)

From health store add B-complex children's drops to milk. Do not buy over the counter stuff. It is geared for SALES not healing. The manufactures DO NOT CARE IF IT KILLS YOUR CHILD! They only want the money!

I am old enough to be your grandmother. I have studied our medical world(s) for more than 40 years. I know what I am saying. I have proved it over and over. I have papers and videos teaching this.

Raise a healthy child, come into Homepathy and Health food products. You will never buy Tylenol or Asprin again. Sabra

Sabra,

I highly appreciate your advise. I am totally new to homepathy and have no idea about the various medicine names that you mentioned.

About she being hot or dry, I cannot classify her as hot or chilly. She doesn't to like to cover herself while sleeping. She hasn't had diarrhea yet. No complains of stomach problems other than constipation. Not very sure about the headaches, but during the cold she does become very irritable.

I am trying to locate a good homeopathy pharmacy close to my house so that I can go and look for the medicines that you have suggested. I hope they come in drops as she will not take the small medicinal pills generally given in India.

About the B-complex childrens drop should I ask her pediatrician to prescribe it. I do hope I don't sound too silly, but I am little less aware of all the medicines.

Is there anything like a health store with vitamins and such where you live?? They usually carry homeopathic remedies. You could probably order from them.

The children's Vit Bcomplex drops would be available there also.

Where do you live?? Sabra

Read some other posts that tell how to give remedies to small children if it comes in pellet form. (dry) Mix few pellets/grains in a bit of water to melt. one half glass and stir vigorously. Give one half teaspoon as one dose. In homeopathy the least given is best. If liquid in bottle, only a few drops is one dose.

Homeopathy is a type of herbal medicine developed 200 years ago that has been processed past the brown herb into a whole new type of remedy.

It is called similars. If one is stung by bees, the remedy made from bee venom is given to "reverse" the bites. Homeopathy reverses the problem.

One gives as many symptoms as possible to give what we call a "picture" of the patient. This gives us the comparisons of symptoms to choose the correct remedy.

On occasion there is what we call a response to the remedy that is scary to the mother, but it is a good sign that the remedy is right and the response is not dangerous and does not last long.

Regardless of what the remedy is made, they are no longer poison. Even if the substance to make the remedy began as poison, homeopathy is not poisonous. Arsenic is the most common rememdy for a certain type of asthma, but one could eat the whole bottle with no harm.

Hope this gives you a larger picture of homeopathy. Sabra
