'Another question, can anybody tell me if combination of remedies are dangerous and why?'
Prescribing remedies as combinations is in direct opposition to one of the main founding principles of Homoeopathy.

Many combinations will also contain remedies which are inimical to eachother, or antidote eachother, but above all, the 'vital force' can only react to one remedy at a time, and to throw a combination at it therefore, merely confuses it. Sometimes this will rectify itself, and seek out the ONE remedy in the combination which is needed, but more often it just remains in this state of confusion until the effect of ALL the remedies have worn off, and the patient is back where he started.
In some patients, this 'state of confusion' will even continue until the problem is rectified by applying antidotes etc.

Combinations are not a good idea.

Thanks for your explanation Dr. Organon

'I know it is dificult to find such single remedy prescribers in Europe, but if you hunt enough, may be you will find one.'

Hmm, a somewhat bold statement if I may say so Mr Murthy? Europe of course is made up of 47 seperate countries and therefore cultures, almost to the point of being actual seperate 'races'. It is not like India where although there is some regional differentiation in culture, you are basically all of the same creed.

If such a generalisation was made that the majority of Homoeopaths in India prescribe in the mongrel way (which has actually been my experience so far, with one or two exceptions), would this not be considered somewhat insulting also?

One should also not forget of course, that it was in Europe that Homoeopathy was actually born, not india.

I hope you take this post in the somewhat tounge in cheek 'good humour' it was intended, but I think this needed pointing out, particularly here where so many prescribers are from India.

'India has close to 400,000 homeopathic doctors, and many more unqualified practitioners like me.'

Wow. That's an incredible number, I had no idea this was so high. I also did not know you were an unqualified practitioner Mr Murthy...not that there is anything wrong with this per se, if the practitioner in question knows what he's doing, and understands the subject and principles of Homoeopathy fully. Having said that though I do think there are some things one can only learn through proper initial training, the actual practicalities of clinical practice, and the safety of patients, being two examples.

Just out of interest, are there many unqualified practitioners who practice on the internet?

B.JAIN. Is an excellent source of cheap literature Joaquin, and I used to buy many books from them when I was a student. Just treat them with a lot of care, as they will fall to pieces very easily, as a whole chest full of various book odments in my attic will attest too!

Sometimes also the translations are a little off, but in my experience this is never of such a degree that you can't ascertain the meaning intended on your own.

I think you can actually order from them through many good mail order Homoeopathic Pharmacies in Great Britain, and sometimes France, and I'm sure this must be the case for Spain also, but it has been a long time since I have done this, so I am not sure if this is still the case.

Murthy,

in Bjainbooks there is a section with Libros en español (Spanish books). There are 86 titles. I'm lucky again!

That is really good news. However you seem to be very comfortable with English too.

Thanks,
but reading a book in your mother language is always easier to understand and to catch the idea.

Without any doubt your english is quite better than mine. Sometimes I have problems trying to express an idea to you, but I try to do it as well as I know.

The Companies that manufacture 'combination homeopathic meds' employ qualified homeopathic doctors.

The meds in each combination are checked for complimentry action.

I have discussed this with the Chairman of SBL India Ltd. (a former collaboration of Bioron) and with the Marketing Manager of Wilmar Schwabe India Ltd (WSI)....a wholly owned company of Schwabe of Germany. The CEO of WSI is a German who has been posted by the parent Company to oversee all the activities of the company in India.

My information is that the Chairman of SBL India is a alumani of Harward University of USA and is fully aware of his responsibilites as the head of a Company manufacturing healthcare products.

These two companies have a number of homeopathic combination meds avilable in the market.

Thought I would share this info with all who have doubts about combination homeopathic meds.

Joaquin

Myself, Giri, Pankaj, Sameer are unqualified for sure.

There is no way to know whether those who have Dr.tags to their names are really qualified or not.

Dear Joaquin and Murthy,

This is given on top of the forum page:

'Information given in this forum is given by way of exchange of views only. It is not to be treated as a medical diagnosis, and should not be used as a substitute for seeing a qualified homeopath or physician. In most cases, advice posted here is not given by a medical expert.'

When I first started posting here at ABC in 2003 I used to post a similar message before starting any reply.

Infact ABC picked it up from my posts and improved the wording .... then placed it at the top of the Forum page....very rightly.

Just for information of all.

Interesting thing, however, is that many who suffer at the hands of practising homeopaths come here to seek our advice.

I know the purpose of this forum. So, before to take some of the remedies here recommended I try to assess if it's reasoneable or not. I have a logical thinking and can do that. But sometimes, I see you are in 3-4 different cases and in other forums, all at the same time, trying to help people, and in fact it's really impossible to take into account the particularities of every patient, unless they post about acute problems.

That's my opinion. Anyway, I think I have found a great place to talk/learn about homeopathy.

Yes. Joaquin

The main purpose of these forums is exchange of information on homeopathic matters.

However, as Pankaj pointed out some people who got vexed with their homeopaths' inability to bring in results come with a hope and ask for remedy suggestions.

Being an open forum all sorts of advices will be thrown in, and it is upto the seeker to seperate the chaff from the grain.

A really daunting task for the uninitiated.

There are going to be recommendations, counter questions, lot of debate and what not, which in a way is good in general as the seeker then will be forced to take an informed decision.

However the same may create confusion too, and the person may get bewildered and leave in disgust.

However in general people who can think logically, who are wise enough to take their own decisions can get benefitted by these forums.

Important
Information given in this forum is given by way of exchange of views only, and those views are not necessarily those of ABC Homeopathy. It is not to be treated as a medical diagnosis or prescription, and should not be used as a substitute for a consultation with a qualified homeopath or physician. It is possible that advice given here may be dangerous, and you should make your own checks that it is safe. If symptoms persist, seek professional medical attention. Bear in mind that even minor symptoms can be a sign of a more serious underlying condition, and a timely diagnosis by your doctor could save your life.
