I favor Apis M. for the bites. Staphysagria is known to repel mosquitos. Apis helps the swellings.

Not a dissagreement, another possibility. Sabra

Ledum works well for mosquito bites. Many reperteries and materia medica confirm it.The keynote for Ledum's usage is injuries by sharp points, and mosquito bite is also caused by sharp point.

Carbolic acid is known to cure swellings caused even by bees, from which Apis is made.

Apis is useful for swellings,if the patient generally gets relief from applying cold water.

I have not heard of Staphysagria repelling mosquitoes.Let me see whether I can get a reference somewhere.

Murthy,
I apologize if this is inappropriate to leave a message re: another thread on this thread but I was wondering if I might ask for your advice on my medical problem. Was working with Pankaj but maybe he is enjoying some time off with the holiday (he certainly deserves it - he is most helpful and gracious). If you don't mind...may I email you or ask you to review my details?
:)
Thank you so much,

Murphy, while I agree Ledum is for "stab" wounds, Mosquitoes are insects and that is far beyond the stab wound.

Actually, I use Apis and Ledum together. So, now I am in "trouble" again, Ha Ha.

Forgive me, Blessings, Sabra

If you want references about Ledum for mosquito bites,I can provide in the evening.Right now,I am in office.

I think,it will be too much if I ask you to read homeopathic philosophy etc..,but you pl.try to read Vithoulkus's Science of Homeopathy. It is a small book, and is very simple to understand.

We can discuss further after you read it.

Here is the first reference.

Nash--Leaders in homeopathic therapeutics

Ledum Palustre--Punctured wounds by sharp pointed instruments, rat bites, stings of insects, especially mosquitoes.

It is an excellent book for acute as well as chronic problems, and he gives only the very important indications.

To use his words,"They guide you towards the remedy like a beacon."

If you don't have it,get it.

Another interesting reference regarding Carbolic Acid.

William H.Burt

Characteristic Materia Medica

"For the extermination of mosquitoes and flies,a small piece of cloth ,saturated with the acid and hung up in the room."

Lunda, One more thing, APIS is the remedy for unexplained swellings and possibly allergy in throat...life threatening.

Apis corrects anaphylactic shock.

Camping may be accidental burn time?? Get some Calendula dry flowers at health or herb store, very cheap, and make some dark tea. Take a quart with you. This is antiseptic for cuts and burns and probably will help the misquito bites too.

It once healed a third degree burn, hand size behind the knee from fireworks. Blessings, Sabra

Yes.Calendula also helps for mosquito bites.

Cantharis and Urtica Urens are also good for burns.
