Sabra, need your help
Hi Sabra, I realize you are helping lots of people, but am wondering if you can read my'mom and baby colds" post.
My daughter is coughing loosely today. Just now she had I guess pale greenish yellow expectoration. It seems to come from deep in her ( I guess; it is so hard to tell in little ones). It is sudden and spasmodic almost as though choking.
Still no fever and her nose is still running. I think it is clear discharge from nose.
My sister noticed her pulling her ear earlier today. I have not seen it.
She has red cheeks again.
Is a little fussier than last day or so. Seems to still not be eating as well.
I don't know whether to use or believe the Remedy Finder. I get confused when I use it.
I am not giving her anything right now, not since about noon because I don't know what to do. I have looked at a book I bought "Everybody's Guide to Homeopathic Medicines" and just can't see her in any specific one of the suggestions.
I so appreciate the help you have given me!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Dear Linda, The Remedy Finder is good, it is just that it is hard to distinguish how to interpret/report the symptoms when one is beginning. Homeopathy is NOT easy to understand in this sense.
One difficulty here is the changing of the remedies often. One would only do this in case of very high fever.
Granted, the condition of your baby is alarming to you, but the mucus without fever is much harder to choose a remedy. Usually a successful fever remedy takes care of the rest of the symptoms.
I have chosen RHUS TOX, a remedy that I would not have normally thought of, except that many symptoms seem to fall in line. It is left, and she tugs on the left ear. It has the caugh and eye symptoms.
Because of the continual body discomfort Rhus Tox is called for. Rhus does not have the adverage type of fever. The ache of the body is better from movement or limbering up. Chilly and quite soon changes to very warm.
Rhus tox has more itching, but you do not mention it. This does not always have to be present, but anyone knowing Rhus would think of this. (almost first)!
If an itch condition occurs, this may show us the remedy is good choice. Give only two doses in the day instead of 3. Post progress.
Was there a day when you and baby got a little wet or chilled? This indicates Rhus T. You may have forgotton this and this type of occurance is part of the picture when reporting.
Get 30 to 200X and give 3 doses in one day. Wait and post. Water is ok, one half teaspoon. You taking it may also be ok as you also had the body aches.
Is there any Menthol or Camphor in the "Young living oil?" This would completely confuse homeopathic treatment. What is the type of oil? These things need to be considered in treatments including homeopathy.
I cannot comment on the supplements as I need to know more about what they are as you refer to them as more allopathic. Lets get the baby well first.
NATRA-BIO is a homeopathic brand of liquid supplements that I have found quite good. The "Thyroid supplement" is one of their products. This one says not good to take while nursing. You really should wait until not nursing to take anything other than regular vitamins and possibly a "food" supp to keep healthy. There is an Iron supp made only from vegetables. Things like this. Never take prescription allopathic iron, it is dangerous to the body.
Do you have a veg juicer? This may be a consideration.
I have checked and rechecked, I sincerely pray we have found the correct remedy. Let me know.

Thanks so much Sabra. I knew I probably had messed it up with changing it. And yes, the Young Livng oil is pretty strong. Can't remember what is in it. I realized the possible interference and stopped rubbing it on her after two times.
I will try the Rhus Tox for her and report back.

Sabra, just another quick thought. This is all about control for me. I want to do what I can to get rid of her cold before it turns to something where, in desperation I take her to the pediatrician who gives her something I wouldn't want her to have. So, in my desire for control, I guess I am trying everything out!

You may call it control because of society's criticisms, but from my standpoint, I call it "protective mother." You are too anxious and still impatient to "protect" your child. Please continue to do so while you learn things that will help you relax.
I would have near/killed anyone that got in my way of protecting my asthmatic. I was the mother that came to school raising hell when someone tried to push my child into eating something that would harm him. I taught him to refuse "the adults" when he knew they were wrong. I taught him that NOT ALL adults were right.
I began this after reading the story of the 7 year old boy that was highly allergic to peanuts. He went to a party and politely refused the peanutbutter cookies. One old biddy came along and shamed him by saying "Oh, ONE cookie couldn't hurt anyone, and put it in his hand!"
The child died.
I am still so angry about this that I cannot hold good thoughts about that woman, or women/men like her.
I advocate forgiveness, but an egomanic who thinks they know the beginning and the end of someone else's business are still hard for me.
I am now an avocate for "Hidden Illness" clients and friends. I go to the doctor, the lawyer, and court with them to see how they are treated. If they are treated badly and told it is in their heads and they imagine it, we go to court with me as the witness as to what occured.
Just because someone "looks well" does not mean they are well. Why do we have to look sideways or be a cripple or be in a wheelchair to be "Ill" in someway?? People are constantly accosted by idiots and threatened for having a disabled sticker on their cars.

When you take her to the pediatrician, ask all sorts of questions to learn about your child, this doesn't mean you have to fill the prescription.
Go to a used book store and get books on anatomy and study the words the doctor uses. Find the pics and this way you are more informed. If something is really serious, ask him to show you on the pic. Usually the names will lead you to the right place.

Hi Sabra, my daughter has had the Rhus Tox twice a day since Sunday. I think she may be doing better, but it is hard to tell.
She has slept more soundly at the beginning of the night. She has woken up with a cough at 3:30 Mon am and 2:30 this morning. It is sounding less deep and sometimes loose, sometimes not .
You mentioned getting chilled, etc. We had very cold weather last week and a snow. Our house is very drafty, so we are cold a lot but dress in layers. Since she has had this cold she has been salivating a lot and so is hard to keep her dry all the time. Now yesterday, it was 65 degrees here and today, about 50-55.
She still has a runny nose. It is seeming more pale green. I don't think it is running as much but still is running.

I just looked back at your instructions and see that I was to give her three doses a day and not two. Perhaps this will help me see more progress.

After I posted this afternoon, she developed a very painful diaper rash.
Now it is several hours later and it looks like it did when she had a yeast infection at 6 weeks. Her vagina is very red. She is crying in a lot of pain. She coughs and sees to be in pain and I can't tell if it is from coughing or her sore bottom.
The last time they gave her nystatin. Is this an antibiotic?

Not familiar with the word, it is likely. Have you read the post...Stupidity....?
Go to health store and get the Chinese herb "Chien Chin." It is great for yeast of this type. You probably have it too, so take 5 balls 4 times a day until she is completely better, or the bottle is gone. Small bottle. About $8. Won't interfere with Rhus.
Seems Rhus is releasing some suppression. Watch carefully. Be at peace. We are back to 6 weeks, a good sign. She will not go through ALL of it, just bits and pieces, maybe only this.

Think of it as a stain that is really locked in the skin. Something like ink. Like a marking pen. Almost impossible to remove.
Now you have found the right "cleaner" to release this stain, (suppression).
Homeopathic remedies release unseen suppression from many "reasons." Things we have put into the body. The body cannot release all of them itself. Suppressions are like side-effects of something else. Probably vaccinations and antibiotics.
If a remedy is working well, past suppression may show itself in various ways. In this case you made the remark, "like she had at 6 weeks." You had no idea this would be very valuable information, but it is.

It took 5 months to get her to this statement. I asked her what happened at this time. She had a pain in her left ovary and the MDieties "painted" some sort of chemical on the cyst found there. She then had allergies for 7 years. So, we treated each symptom as it showed up, and finally treated the incident of the chemical. She no longer had allergies, nor did she have ovary pain.
This is why I deplore using antidotes for the responses many get from a good remedy choice and get upset by the self-eliminating discomfort.
Today it is called differently, but I was taught that homeopathy goes back in time to the cause of the conditions.

Sabra, I have looked for and called around town for the chien chin. No one has it. There is a chiropractor who deals in chinese herbs, but I don't really want to make an appt with him to get it if he has it. I think I will order it online.
What can I do for her in the meantime? The last time she had a yeast infection, she had blood in her stools. She is really in pain with this especially when she has a bowel movement. The people at the health food store gave me this Bio K acidopholus/casei that I give to her orally and rub on the affected area. I don't think it is helping.

You don't have to have an appointment to buy the Chien Chin. Or did he say so??? If he did he is not much of a man to refuse this kind of help. It would be criminal. It does not require a prescription.
Did you call accupunturists and such?
Try Chinese herbs online. If you end up needing to buy this way, get two bottles.

The ferrum met, as I said was helping him out well, until he had the food that he is sensitive to on Sunday. That night his face was very red.
Then on Monday, Tuesday and now tonight, he has had a dry cough. He had a bit of the cough during the day today. Dry but not deep sounding. At night and early in the morning, it is dry and deep, barking sounding.
His mood is off and on demanding and irritable. But this is kind of the way he is at his age anyway. But I think it has been more than his normal behavior.
It is after midnight now and he is sleeping soundly after the earlier coughing spell.

I do remember we worked with him, but I do not keep track of postings because time just keeps going along. Then when the forum "shifts" I lose my place and depend on people to look me up to keep it going.

Hi Sabra, you know I almost wrote back last night and told you that I had wriiten about him a couple of months ago (two year old with asthma) He is 2 1/2. We had talked about foods he is sensitive to--wheat, cows milk.
Anyway, I will keep the ars alb going. Thanks for getting back with me.

Your daughter is showing improvement within a day and half? Have you done anything else? If not, this continues to show the workings of the Rhus Tox. Keep me posted.

Well, you know what I did---I thought it couldn't hurt and I had read that a bath in apple cider vinegar helps with yeast infection. So I gave her two baths in it today.
She still has the yeast infection but it is seeming to be less area affected and is not as bright red. She is not crying in pain so much--sometimes not at all when I change her diaper. So maybe a combination of soaks and Rhus Tox?

Hi, I just looked at your other posting, thinking it was this one. Are you still nursing?? Should not take any thyroid supplements.
There is a good one to try. About $8. NATRA-BIO makes very good remedies.
NB Thyroid support can be found in health stores.

Hi Sabra, thanks for the information. I saw that one at the health food store when I was looking for the chien chin. I will try it when my daughter is done nursing.
Her yeast infection continues to get better! I gave her one bath in the cider vinegar today and she continues on the Rhus Tox. I am thinking it may be gone by the time I get the chien chin in the mail!
