Help - low-back pain 4th week pregnancy!

I am 4 weeks pregnant and I am very tired and feel severe pain in lower back with low energy level. Feel like going to bathroom. The back-pain is like the one during menstruation.
Is there something I can take to get the lower back-pain better?
Is this sign of miscarriage approaching? Hate to even say it out loud...but need to straighten things out.

Have been anxious and happy all together. Can't help but keep planning and overplanning. Anything to take to ease my mind.

My 1st child was prematurely delivered 36 weeks. Throughout 1st pregnancy no problem except at 15th week spotting. Saw doc, did ultrasound they said all ok. Then, at 36 weeks water broke, went in for normal birth process in labor for 28 hrs and then foetal heart arithmia made them take me for emergency C-section. Was throwing up till 5th or even 6th month. By the time throwing-up stopped it was time for baby to come out. One roller-coaster ride.

Something about self.
In early 30s. Love sun, the brightness the happiness with it. Dull weather immediately start connecting with known people. Prefer surrounded by people, however not as comfortably talking now. Have always been trustworthy, life experience taught to be selective with conversation/people. Sensitive with comments.
Can disassociate usually well, since pregnancy even more touched by things linked to parent, life, past good memories.

Severe acid reflux with sour things. Lean toward chocolate, fried, salty, chips. None of the reflux causing foods' intake since past 3 months. Had to control reflux. Usually like warm surroundings, warm food, warm/room temp. water. cold water not liked since 15 yr old. Tonsil swelling redness/fever with slightest carbonated drink/sour food. Not drink soda for 15 yrs. During pregnancy very hungry. Compared to 1st preg. this one within 4 weeks feel so nauseous, eating chapatis like crazy. Taking prenatals regularly with cal. 200mg, magnesium 100mg, folate 800 mcg.

Past Allergy prone - dust. Causes unable to breath. This symptom is under control without any inhaler/homeopathy since past 6 months.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Please take three doses of Kali Carb 200c at a gap of 4 hours for one day and see how it affects in the next 10 days.

Dr. Mahfooz is right. You may take the following salts at various stages.

Srisri recommends the following

You may want to try the following tissue salt regime that is extremely useful in pregnancy:

Months
2 & 6: CF MP FP
3 & 7: CF MP NM
4 & 8: CF Sil NM
5 & 9: CF Sil FP

cf calc flourica
mp mag phos
fp ferrum phos
nm natrum mur
sil silicea

So you can take 2 pellets each of the above tissue salts thrice a day at a gap of 4 hours. Please don't take salts on the day you take a homeo remedy.

Thank you Dr Kadwa and Dr Mahfooz.

I got all the meds today. Will start today.

Again, none of these mentioned meds. might relax my muscles for possible premature delivery, right??

You have taken homeo remedies and tissue salts. Kali Carb is a prominent female remedy and it is well indicated in pregnancy. So the suggestions are gentle. Please see whether they can help.

Best Wishes.

As a holistic mom of 3 young children, in my own research, I discovered deydration is suggested as the top reason for back pain. When I read Your Bodies Many Cries for Water (written by MD) I was shocked to find out even herbal teas don't count...and that when NOT pregnant I should be drinking 1/2 my weight in water balanced with sodium. I was dehydrated on a cellular level and that my thirst 'sensor' wasn't working to tell me when I was thirsty. In fact when I was thirsty it's too late! It can take up to 6 months of proper rehydration to rehydrate on a cellular level. For me it is a conscious effort of setting timers to ensure I drink enough water and spaced apart during the day. It was an INSTANT cure every time. Even now with my husband or kids...if someone has a headache or back ache, we drink 1 glass for thirst and 1 for the headache - 95% of the time it is cleared. Also, friends had experienced miscarriages so when I read about iodine deficiency being the most probably cause I was adamant about getting enough iodine into my diet EVERY day... hope you are feeling better. Pregnancy is so incredibly awesome! Wendy

Thanks Wendy! I do agree with you at many levels. The 1st day I had pain and I called my nurse, she went through a checklist. Toward the end it's like without her saying I was telling myself...water..water. Drank 6 glasses. 1st thing I immediately cleared my bowels, then no more feeling acidic. These followed by feeling 50-60% better.

I have been eating food like a glutton right now, so tummy gets filled with food, then no space for water. Then it's like the system gets clogged.

Wendy, what did you mean by iodine intake..did you mean you took less or more salt? By default I lean towards minimal salt. A particle more...and I'll find it too salty.

They said my TSH last was 4.86 (.25 more than the range) with FT4 1.01 within normal range .4-2.0.

They say that iodine deficiency is the largest cause of mental retardation... google 'iodine supplementation during pregnancy'... there is also an article at sciencedirect as well as medline etc. While I don't follow allopathic medicine, their studies still carry some weight. What I did and do is take 'lugol's iodine'. I would not suggest you blindly buy some and start taking it though without researching it first. Dr. Brownstein wrote a great book called I think Iodine why you need it and why you can't live without it. He's written some awesome articles you can find on the net as well. Ideally one would have a superb diet including lots of seafood and raw veggies, no stress in their lives etc. LOL This is rarely the case, the ocean food is poluted, and well we do what we can. While I agree we should get our nutrients from foods, I went several routes, I researched alot of prenatal vitamins and the ones I came up with were the Rainbow brand as well as the Kirkman Labs one which I loved the best and DOES have iodine in it. I also used a green powdered food supplement once I could choke it back ;-) choose a good quality one without fillers. Susun Weed and Aviva Jill Romm have THE most amazing herbal books and I encourage everyone to either buy them or get them thru their library. Very helpful with recipes on nutritive tonics (including kelp) that one can brew to help with vitamins and minerals. I used them post partum with my last 2 children and my babies slept great and especially this last baby was THE hapiest baby in the whole wide world, never cried - really, people comment on it all the time!!! -of course I also don't eat dairy, wheat, soy, chocolate or eggs either...learned from the first 2. It's so worth it. I didn't with my 1st and he was colicky and cried all the time, slept lightly etc. until an older woman at a breastfeeding meeting told me about removing dairy and wheat and then I figured the rest out on my own. I have a free holistic parenting group online for moms if you ever want support or ideas just join up. holisticparents at yahoo dot com is my email address if you need any websites etc. Homeopathy was amazing through my pregnancies and with my children but I also believe that OPTIMAL nutrition and hydration are the key foundations which many times will in many cases strenghten, heal and support the body and baby.

Dr Kadwa or Dr Mahfooz,

I forgot to check - is it alright for me to continue with my prenatal vitamins along with homeo meds. or tissue salts.
Or not take it while with homeo. med. or tissue salts?

**Please follow everything that your hospital asks you to do. All our suggestions are in addition to that. Please continue with prenatal vitamins and also take the remedies that have been suggested.

Hello Dr(s),

Something to report -
Since my last message on the forum things have changed. As I had suspected with low back pain (the kind of pain one gets at delivery time), I had a miscarriage. This happened before I could get started on the homeopath medicines.

Here is what has happened since.
A. a few clots, grey 6-7cm sac that got cleared from my system. 10 days of bleeding as of now.
B. I have yet to see a doctor. They have asked me to schedule after my Hcg levels go down to 0 or less than 5. So, have to test blood. Doc thinks to keep this natural. No D&C surgery post-miscarriage. She thinks on 7th week miscarriage things clear up themselves without any infection.

Here are my questions -

What do you think for
a. getting back healthy for the present i.e just my good health post-miscarriage (assuming post-misc I have my system out of balance?)

b.future healthy pregnancy/delivery?

c. My thyroid ratings
sep 2009 - TSH - 4.86 (.26 more than the range),
Free T4 1.01 (within range .75-2.0)

Feb 2010 (5 mths later, when still pregnant) TSH =11.8, Free T4=.86. Obstetrician said it is normal to have TSH go high during 1st trimester but my Free T4 was normal.

I think it is my thyroid, with high TSH (but FreeT4 levels seemed within range), that could be the miscarr.culprit.

Wondering what to do for future conception trials?

(I had started getting my thyroid tests after I had read enough posts last year in this forum about how thyroid is the root cause of premature greying hair, uncalled for fatigue, miscarriage and premature baby -my child #1 was 1.5 months early, now 6.5 yrold).

Thanks
