The ABC Homeopathy Forum

Desperately in need of help

I'm a 52 year old female who has been suffering from severe gas buildup in the stomach and intestines. I also have a white/creamy coated tongue, congestion in my throat that makes it difficult to talk without clearing my throat. I have severe pain in my stomach...it feels like a hot poker is being pushed through my stomach (under my ribs, straight through my back). I cannot eat or drink anything without getting more gassy and sick to my stomach. It is difficult to drink fluids, when I do, I have to take small sips and gas comes up shortly after each sip. I have severe back pain just below the shoulder, and the pain runs horizontally. The pain in my back is worse on the right (like gallbladder pain). I have difficulty breathing when the gas builds up too much and I become anxious....and have panic attacks. This causes my blood pressure to skyrocket. I wake up in the morning with gas pain throughout my body, especially in my back and in the small intestines area. The gas problem and pain is not as bad in the morning...but begins to escalate at approximately 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon and gets worse as the night comes. I wake up at 3:00 most nights in a panic state.

I have had my gallbladder, pancreas and liver checked out via ultrasound...and everything looks normal, except I have two small polyps on my gallbladder. One polyp has been there since 2005 with no change in size. I have had my arteries, aorta, veins and carotids checked out, with not problems seen. Can somebody help me please?

Please take Lycopodium 200c thrice a day at a gap of 4 hours for only one day (not daily) and report back after 15 days.

One dose means
If the medicine is in pills form 4 pills. Don't touch pills with hand. Use cap of bottle to take pills.
If the medicine is in liquid dilution form, 3-4 drops in some 20 ml water. Sip up slowly.

Please follow homeo restrictions like no coffee, no raw onion/garlic, no strong perfumes, don't eat or drink anything within 30 minutes before or after taking medicine.

Thank you for your recommendations. I just wanted to add some new information received from my physician. I had blood work done and it shows that I have an acute H-Pylori infection. The doctor is prescribing intensive antibiotic treatment (I believe she is prescribing 3 different antibiotics for a long course of treatment--several weeks). Will homeopathy still work if I am taking antibiotics?

**Yes.

Thank you so very much. I will order the Lycopodium and report back after 15 days. Thanks.

Wanted to give you an interim update on my condition. I did get the Lycopodium and took the 3 doses 7-15-2010. Haven't noticed any relief thus far, especially with the gas buildup which causes me to have to take the maximum dose of simethicone daily. (I am also sipping ginger tea to bring the gas up). I will report back after the 15 days, as requested, but wanted to report another problem I am having as a result of the massive doses of antibiotics that I am taking. I developed Thrush so bad that I couldn't even swallow my own saliva. It's a little better after starting on the Nystatin swish/swallow medication the doctor prescribed, but I was hoping someone might have recommendations to further combat that problem (other than eating Activia yogurt like the doctor suggested). I am also constipated and only passing very small (miniscule) amounts of soft stool. I am sure that if I solved the constipation problem it would help with the gas buildup in my stomach and esophagus. Sorry for so many complaints, but this is the most miserable illness I have ever experienced.

It's hard to find 200c remedies where I live. Are there any other strengths I can use (i.e., 30c) until I can order some things online if I cannot find the remedy locally?

I am on day three of the nux vomica. I am also taking Diflucan and Nystatin oral swish to combat the thrush. While the thrush has been reduced considerably, it is still present on my tongue and back of my throat. I suspect it is also in my sinuses and stomach (based on the foamy saliva that is ever present and causing me to have a difficult time swallowing). I got the results of a stool test which indicated that the H-Pylori is clear, so I discontinued the antibiotics a few days ago. Unfortunately, the gas and bloating are still tremendous and the constipation is completely out of control. I have taken stool softeners and laxatives with no relief. Haven't had stool in days. I feel awful every day and desperately need some relief from these awful symptoms...especially the gas and constipation. I heard homeopathic opium works with constipation? Please help!

tess1253 last decade
Nux Vomica
If there is ineffectual desire to pass stool.

Calc Carb
Fir those who are obese, perspire a lot and avoid cold and damp weather.

Alumina
If there is lack of urge to pass stool.

Opium
Lack of urge to pass stool. If the patient is painless and sleeps a lot.

Bryonia
If the patient suffers from pain in her extremeties that worsen after exertion.

Silicea
If there is lot of straining and stools are soft.

Simlarly Lycopodium and Sulphur are other prime remedies for constipation with their own set of indications.

Take Cuprum Met 200...morning and evening.

Also take two / three doses in gaps of 10 minutes when the panic attack comes at 3 A.M.

It will restore normalcy to your breathing, take away colic, release gas from your intestines etc. The med also works as a heart tonic.

By taking the med...if you notice any aggravation...stop further dosing. Post feed back here.

Please answer the following questions in a descriptive manner after careful analysis and recollection of previous experiences and happenings.

1. Describe your main suffering? Severe gas/bloating

2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body? constipation, thrush, difficulty swallowing, stomach and back pain, anxiety and panic attacks

3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings? fear, anxiety and panic attacks

4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst? extreme abdominal bloating, pain in my back (especially on the upper right side beneath my scapula) and pain in my stomach from the pressure of the gas, nasa congestion, foamy thick saliva and post nasal drip that makes it difficult to swallow my own saliva and also difficult to pass gas (belch). This leads to fear of choking or the inability to breathe, anxiety about this condition and panic attacks. My heart races and my blood pressure rises. I also have tingling in my left arm, hand, back, neck, head and face.

5. When did it all start? Approximately 2 months ago. Can you connect it to any past event or disease? I thought that it might be gallbladder problems, but my gallbladder ultrasound was clear and I was diagnosed with H-pylori bacteria and possible ulcers.

6. Which time of the day you are worst? I am worse beginning in late afternoon (3:00 p.m.) and continuing through the night.

7. What are the things which aggravate your suffering and which are those which ameliorate the same? Afternoon rain showers (barometric pressure changes) and eating most foods aggravate the gas condition. Drinking water and stretching and twisting my back helps to make me belch and bring the bubbles of gas up. Taking simethicone also helps with the gas. Nothing helps with the constipation (not even stool softeners, nor laxatives, nor any of the homeopathic remedies I have tried). The only thing that helps with the anxiety and panic attacks is Xanax.

8. Do your think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)?

Yes...my sufferings seem to be worse when I am at home, especially when I am alone, or when my daughter is having a temper tantrum.

9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather? Feel better during cooler, dry weather.

10. Describe your general mental set up? Are you Moody, Arrogant, Mild, Agreeable Changeable, Nervous, Suspicious, Easily offended, Quiet, Arguing, Irritating, Lazy etc. I am nervous, agreeable, somewhat moody and lazy when sick.

- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm? Nervous, anxious, bloated and my blood pressure rises.

- Do you like being consoled during your tough times? Yes
- Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc? Yes

- Do you have any typical habit or gesture like nail biting, causeless
weeping, talking to one self etc? Talk to one self when alone and feeling down.

- How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife? I feel disappointed in my friends, family and child (I have no husband).

11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly? My fear is of having a heart attack, or not being able to breathe and dying from those conditions. I repeatedly dream of my dogs getting loose, running in the street and getting lost.

12. What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions? I crave sweets, especially chocolate, cheese, diet colas and bread and have no desire to eat bland food (potatoes, rice, vegetables).

13. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive? Very little thirst

14. How if your hunger: Less, Normal or Excessive? Normal

15. Is there any kind of food which your body can’t stand? Although I love bananas, I cannot eat them because they cause extreme gas pains. Chocolate also causes gastric upset.

16. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or Limbs? I have been sweating more than normal and my trunk and underarms sweat the most.

17. How is your bowel movement and stool type? Suffer from severe constipation. And when I go, my stool is very soft, scanty and incomplete.

18. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping? I wake up several times a night (1:00 a.m., 3:00 a.m., 5:00 a.m.) and typically sleep on my right side with my left leg raised up near my chest.

19. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general? No

20. How do you think you are different from others, if at all? I think I am less happy than most people

21. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication? I was taking massive doses of antibiotics to treat the H-Pylori bacteria and prevacid. The antibiotics caused yeast overgrowth, sinus congestion, and foamy thick saliva...so I began to take Diflucan and Nystatin to fight the yeast infection. I take simethicone to reduce the gas and bloating and occasionally take a very low dose of xanax for the anxiety (1/2 or 1/3 of a .25 mg tablet).

22. What major diseases are running in your family? Heart disease, kidney disease, stroke

23. Describe, how do you look like? Describe your overall appearance I am 5'3', 120 lbs, petite build, thin upper body and heavier lower body (hips, thighs). I have long hair (past my waist) and olive complexion.

24. (ONLY FOR FEMALES)

If you are not having normal menstrual cycles, please answer the following questions:

- Are the periods early, regular or late in general? How long do they last?
- Do you suffer from any kind of physical or mental discomfort before, during or after the periods?
- Is the flow scanty, normal or excessive?
- Is the blood thick bright red or pale watery?
- Do you notice any clots in the flow?

I have gone through menopause, so I do not have periods.

Kadwa - is your recommendation in response to the questionaire I filled out? Also I noticed that Pankaj Varma recommended Cuprum Met 200 morning and evening....and two to three doses in gaps of 10 minutes for panic attacks that come on at 3:00 a.m. Should I follow both recommendations or one or the other???? If I should follow both recommendations, then:

Pankaj Varma - how many days should I take the Cuprum Met 200 morning & night doses? And should I take such a strong dose 200c two/three doses in gaps of 10 minutes for the panic attacks at 3 a.m. or a more mild strength? Can I take this if the panic attacks occur earlier in the night or day? And how long should I continue using this approach for panic attacks?

Thank you both for your help!

On the basis of your details i think that Ammonium Mur is your remedy. Please take it as advised and report back. We will consider other remedies later.

Sorry for delay in getting back to site...but I have been in an out of the doctors offices trying to address my various problems (thrush, severe bloating/gas, etc.) I also lost a tremendous amount of weight (primarily muscle), suffered from insomnia (sleep deprivation) and cold/flu which the doctor suspects was caused by depressed immune system from lack of sleep and heavy antibiotic treatment for H-Pylori. Unfortunately, during that time, I was unable to locate the Ammonium Mur locally, so I was unable to try that recommended remedy.

My condition has improved somewhat over the past month. I took a week's worth of Diflucan and the thrush is currently not a problem. I also switched from Prevacid to Aciphex, which seems to work better with the gastric reflux.

I continue to have nausea, severe gas in stomach and moderate gas in the intestinal tract, acid indigestion/burning just below sternum, radiating to my back (like a hot poker) and pain in the upper right quadrant of my back. The stomach pain and gas is still worse after 3:00 p.m. and during thunderstorms (which occur in the afternoon almost every day here in S. Florida) The massage therapist and chiropractor I have been seeing say the pain is in the gallbladder meridian and suspect the gallbladder problems I experienced several years ago have returned (sluggish gallbladder). Pain in gallbladder region is worse when I give in to my cravings for chocolate, bread, bananas, and dairy products (cheese, yogurt).

Could you re-evaluate my condition and recommend remedies which include the gallbladder issue. Thank you.

'The gas problem and pain is not as bad in the morning...but begins to escalate at approximately 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon and gets worse as the night comes. I wake up at 3:00 most nights in a panic state. '

Simple, You need :

1. Sulphur 30 after bath the morning,

2. cina 30 in the afternoon

3. Nux Vomica 30 at bed time.
