Reoccurring Strep Throat in toddler

Please help! My 3 year old daughter just tested positive for strep for the 4th time since May and 5th time since February and 9th time since last summer. We have been using antibiotics for treatment. On day 7 of using Omnicef, she broke out in an itchy rash. We were prescribed Omnicef because the doctor felt like Amoxicillin wasn't helping. One week later, this past Monday, we were back at the doctors office and again she tests positive. She is currently not being treated as we are waiting on lab results to determine true strep. I want my child well. I feel like we are in a vicious cycle. I clean, toss toothbrushes, change sheets, etc. with each infection. Every time she has strep her symptoms are different. Scarlet fever, vomitting, rash that's not scarlet fever, swollen joints, runny nose, cough, eye irritation that looks like pink eye, sore throat, congestion, tantrums. It's been so bad that anytime she feels ill or starts acting strange I have to think it could be strep. She rarely runs a true fever with her cases of strep. I can't keep treating her over and over with antibiotics. I need help and advice. Surgery is an absolute final resort and I really don't want to even go there. I need my baby well.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Please go through each symptom separately and give the following information:

1. Describe exactly what happens, including what it looks like.

2. What makes it worse when it is happening?

3. What makes it better while it is happening?

4. What triggers it into occurring?

5. When did the problem start, what was happening around that time?

6. What symptoms cluster together with this one, or occur directly before or directly after?

It is important to give as many exact details as you can on top of the questions mentioned above. For example:

Where does the rash occur?

What does she vomit up?

What kind of discharge comes from the nose?

What does the cough sound like?

What side of the throat is affected? What does the throat look like?

Where does she get congestion?

Describe a typical tantrum?

Also what has been her reactions to vaccines or drugs other than antibiotics?

What was the pregnancy like, were there any problems?

What was her medical history like before the strep?

What is the family history of illnesses?

I chose to copy and paste so I can address each question. I will try to answer each one the best I can. After reading through them quickly the first time I realized how much I don't know and feel like I've let my child down. I've put too much trust into common medicine and her doctor. Please read below for the answers.

Please go through each symptom separately and give the following information:

1. Describe exactly what happens, including what it looks like.

This time I noticed her being less active than normal. She room about a 2 hour nap and when she woke up she had a runny nose and was sneezing and coughing. She felt warm but she fought me while I tried to take her temperature (tantrum) so the reading was off. The current readings have been as high as 100.8 and as low as 99. Not treating with Tylenol or ibuprofen.

2. What makes it worse when it is happening? Not exactly sure since it is different every time. This is the longest we have gone without treating it and she has moments of happiness but is nowhere near herself.

3. What makes it better while it is happening? In the past I would have said the antibiotics. First time to go untreated. Her mood is better when I can get her to eat and drink but it's been difficult. I try ice pops to soothe her throat.

4. What triggers it into occurring? It seems that she goes to church or is around her friends and a couple days later she's sick. 2 times we went to a friends house to swim in her salt water pool. 2 days later she's sick. Doctor said it's unrelated. Friends daughter has never had strep.

5. When did the problem start, what was happening around that time? Her very first infection was about 2 years ago. Maybe a year and a half. She was going to Mother's Day Out once a week.

6. What symptoms cluster together with this one, or occur directly before or directly after? I would have to say her mood change is what made me think she had strep. The other symptoms could have easily been viral but the smallest things will set her off when she gets sick like this. She becomes almost obsessed with things being exactly how she wants it. I hope I answered this question right.

It is important to give as many exact details as you can on top of the questions mentioned above. For example:

Where does the rash occur? The first time it was chest, back then her elbows and knees swelled up like balls. When she had Scarlet Fever (without a real fever mind you) and strep the rash was on her cheeks. I thought it was 5th disease. Then it moved down to her chest, arms, legs and became itchy.

What does she vomit up? This happened with a separate strep infection between the scarlet fever and her current infection. She told me she needed water. Was acting very thirsty. She ate oatmeal and got sick. She continued getting sick throughout the day. I gave her small amounts of fluids and followed a BRATY diet after she was able to hold down the liquids. She vommited a total of 5 times in about 8 hours.

What kind of discharge comes from the nose? Clear, thick

What does the cough sound like? dry

What side of the throat is affected? She wont let me look. Her doctor just said it looked irritated and I didnt ask which side. She just tells me her throat hurts and itches.
What does the throat look like? Red and irritated

Where does she get congestion?
Nasal passage from what I can tell by listening
Describe a typical tantrum? I normal tantrum for her is usually solved quickly with a time out or a simple talk, face to face. When she's tested positive for strep and has these tantrums it's uncontrollable. Throwing herself on the floor. Not able to focus or listen. Obsesses over things being her way like her wanting something specific.

Also what has been her reactions to vaccines or drugs other than antibiotics? Normal. Not even a fever.

What was the pregnancy like, were there any problems? No problems. The OBGYN called it textbook.

What was her medical history like before the strep? Never really got sick. Maybe a cold or 2 but she was over a year old before she had her first cold. She was breastfed for 4 months.

What is the family history of illnesses? I had strep throat almost once a year until I got pregnant. Haven't had it since. Husband has sinus problems. Some seasonal allergies but not every year. I'm allergic to cats but we don't own a cat. Husband has high BP and triglycerides. Her half sister was diagnosed with Lupus last year but my husbands family has no history of it.

I hope I've given you enough information. Please let me know if I need to expand on anything else. We should hear back on the lab results 7/20. Please keep in mind that every positive strep reading has brought on different symptoms. It's never the same scenario besides her mood. When she had a small break from the February and May strep she had a couple of cold viruses and tested negative for strep.

Thanks,
Melissa

Ok that is a good first pass over the information. I just need to get you to clarify or expand on a few points.

One important point I need to make though. When giving information for a homoeopath, one word or short answers are not very useful for us.

It might be useful to have a quick look at this site that talks about how to give the right information to a homoeopath.

http://www.drluc.com/lecture-five.html

There is one thing that is very clear to me though. This is not an acute infection. This a chronic weakness in her immunity, regardless of what pathogen she shows in her bloodwork. It is 100% an inherited one too, since your yearly strep throats vanished when you had her (the illness has been transferred to her energetically).

What is the common factor with those outings to see friends, go to church or go swimming? Anything about the weather, the temperature, the environment?

What was happening around the time she got her first infection? Any stress in the family? Was she just recently vaccinated?

Can you describe more on 'obsessed with small things' and 'obsessed with things being exactly how she wants it'?

Describe the cough more exactly, more details. What exactly does it sound like?

I will post more questions later, I have a client to attend to.

What is the common factor with those outings to see friends, go to church or go swimming? Anything about the weather, the temperature, the environment?

Her doctor calls the Mother's Day Out program a daycare environment. It is held at a church. Her class has 2 adult teacher and 10 girls total. They do have gym time with another class. They play, learn, have chapel time, etc. She is there 2 days a week for 5 hours both days. It's starts in September and ends in May. I was told by her doctor that this is normal and to expect winter to be even worse. I contacted the other mom and so far I've only heard from 4 of the 9 moms. Of those 4, 2 girls have never had strep, 1 girl had it twice in the fall an once in May, and the other girl had it once in May. In June she did 4 summer classes that were held twice a week separated by a week break. She went twice the beginning of July.

We live in Texas. The weather changes often during the fall through the spring. Our summers are HOT! Since May it has been mostly dry and hot. This limits outside time at both home and school.

When we went to her friends home to swim it was hot out. Maybe more of a breeze the second time. It has been very windy this spring and beginning of summer. The second time the lawn company showed up to do a treatment on the grass. The girls did not play in the grass but we did stay outside in the shade as the mom assured me it was a natural, nontoxic treatment.

What was happening around the time she got her first infection? Her very first infection was so long ago I can't remember exact details. I remember her getting a rash and it didn't seem to bother her but I took her to the doctor. I believe she had a fever tested positive for strep. It was not considered Scarlet Fever though. Days later she didn't get much better with the treatment of antibiotics. I expected more of a recovery since she had never been on antibiotics. Then I noticed her joints looked swollen. By the time we got back to the doctors office her knees and elbows looked like balls. I was told by 2 doctors that same visit that this was a normal reaction to strep. It was her body's way of fighting it off. Any stress in the family? My husband owns his own business so I guess there is always some stress. I'm normally laid back and go with the flow. She's mostly with me. By the time her joints were swollen I was a wreck! Crying at the doctors office and scared that it could be worse. She's my first and I didn't want to ignore or overlook something.
Was she just recently vaccinated? No. I believe it was a few months after her first birthday but I dont have her records on hand and I can't remember.

Can you describe more on 'obsessed with small things' and 'obsessed with things being exactly how she wants it'? The time she ended up having Scarlet Fever we went to see a movie a couple days before I even knew she was sick. Her second movie ever, the first being a whole year ago. I had my son, 6 months at the time, with us. She picked where we were going to sit. I was feeding my son and she would not sit down. I told her to sit or we would have to leave. She told me she needed the bathroom. Walking back to the theater I tell her we must sit still so that we all can enjoy the movie, mostly others in the theater. We walked in and she wanted to stand and walk around. So I had to follow through and we left. It took over 30 minutes to get to the car. She was throwing herself on the floor screaming about the movie and not wanting to sit down. Sometimes it's wanting a toy but she wants me to get it and will start screaming when I don't do it. She won't listen or follow directions as well. She becomes much more difficult to soothe. Her normal mood is happy. She sings and dances often. She is happy sitting to do art projects or reading in her chair. We read a lot.

Describe the cough more exactly, more details. What exactly does it sound like? I'm not very good at this but to me it sounds more hacking but not so much in the chest. She doesn't clench at her chest when she coughs. It doesnt seem to be producing any mucus. It can seem deep at times because she'll move her whole body to cough verses just her head. But she's 33 pounds so this could be normal. I have no idea.

I hope this helps. If you need more just let me know. I really appreciate your help!!!

Thank you,
Melissa

What is the family history of illness - you, her father, both of your parents?

brisbanehomoeopath last decade
My history. I've been fairly healthy. Don't get sick nearly as often as before I got pregnant with my first. As a baby I would get eat infections often. All other illnesses were the occassionally cold, flu, stomach illness. At about age 8 I was diagnosed with acid reflux but it was controlled mostly by diet. My sister had a tonsillectomy at about age 10. She had back to back strep infections that didn't go away. My mom, as far as I know, was healthy growing up. About 13 years ago she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis but is very healthy otherwise. Her parents both passed away due to heart attacks in their 60's and 70's. My father was healthy growing up, again from what I've been told. He had a sever heart attack at 48 and his heart stopped twice in the ER while they were working on him. After 6 shocks to the heart. He was a smoker until the day of his heart attack and hasn't gone back to smoking. His father died of a heart attack in his 60's and his mother lives in a home. She has diabetes and has suffered other problems like broken hip, UTI, and other medical problems due to change in medicines and finding the right combination for her. She is 86.

My husband has high BP. High triglycerides, he is often stressed as he runs his own business, he is overweight, he also suffers from migraines from time to time. His father died if bone c (can't write the c word out) in his 60's. His mother has diabetes and has had c cells removed from her skin. She is in her late 70's and is otherwise healthy. My husbands brother has diabetes. My husbands daughter was diagnosed with Lupus last year. Her mother said it doesn't run in their family but according to my mother-in-law nobody in their family has ever had it either.

Please let me know what other information you may need.

When I called to check on the results of her test I found out the doctor's office never sent it off. We went back in for another swab test to be done. The rapid came back positive again. I had them check my son as he was showing symptoms and he also tested positive. I know you said it didn't matter how it came back but I just wanted to update you on the results.

Thank you so much for your time!

Ok get hold of Carcinosinum 200c. Get pillules and also get a separate small bottle with a dropper. The bottle size should be 15-30mls. Some alcohol will be needed too - any kind of spirit is ok, brandy, vodka etc.

Thank you for the information. Do you mind giving me detailed directions on how to use all of this? I am completely new to this type of treatment and don't want to mess up especially when I'm giving it to my daughter. Also, the alcohol, is it for me? I'm a little confused. Sorry.

Thank you again for all your help!

Once you have the remedy in pillule form, you need to create a separate dosing bottle. Get a bottle with a dropper, 15-30mls in size, and fill it with a mixture of water and alcohol (5 parts to 1 part). Dissolve 2 pillules into this mixture. Each dose will be made from this bottle.

Hit the bottle firmly against the palm of your hand, or another elastic surface like a book. It should be a firm hit not a tap. 2 hits is enough to begin with, and should not be increased unless it is clear that it is needed. The water in this bottle will 'remember' the number of times you have hit it, so that subsequent doses will be stronger (necessary to overcoming the resistance of your disease).

Place 1 drop into 1/4 cup of water (60mls). Stir thoroughly and take 1 teaspoon into the mouth. Throw the rest of the cup away.

This is one dose. Repeat doses would be started from the 2 hits on the bottle.

Each step of this process can be adjusted to reduced aggravation or to increase the effect of the medicine. In order to be able to do this, it is important to measure each step (count the hits, the drops, measure the water etc).

Initially, I will ask you to do only one dose (once only) then we reassess after a week.

Now I'm catching on. I have done a google search and really don't know who to trust my purchase with. Do you recommend any websites?

Thank you for the detailed explanation!
