Ulcerative Colitis/Allergies/Insomnia

Hello,

Over the last couple of years I have suffered increasingly bad allergy symptoms, mainly to food. In the past I have been a fairly frequent drug user (most types), but not for the last few years. I have a good job and live alone.

Within the last few years I have radically changed my diet (through neccesity) and have stopped smoking and drinking. Recently I have had a sigmoidoscopy which has pointed to UC/Chrons (I am waiting for biopsy results to say which).

I also suffer badly from insomnia over the past 18 months. I have seen a homeopath who initially gave sulphur and nux, which I showed some immediate improvement from, but which then dissapeared. I have been taking nux (6c 3x daily) for a while also. My sleep of late had improved quite a lot. I am taking 2mg of diazepam a day at present (reducing at 0.5mg/week).

I recently saw the homeopath again and merc cur 13c was given to be taken 3x per week. I have also stopped taking the nux. I have now started to get terrible insomnia, to the point where I cannot work. I know diazepam withdrwal can cause imsomnia, but this last bout has coincided exactly with starting merc cur for my intestinal issues.

I also get very tense and when I am so tired dislike almost everything. Another odd symptom is a tingling sensation in my scalp. Does nux (6c) sound like a good thing for me? It seems to help, other potencies do not seem to help. Does anyone have any advice on other possible remedies - mainly for the sleep!

Thanks.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Initially you should phone your homeopath and explain what is happening in case they want to alter the potency or frequency of the remedy.
If something is suggested here it could interfere with your homeopathic treatment.

In addition to the homeopathy you could take avena sativa (herbal drops made from oats) to take - these help the nervous system cope with withdrawal and can help insomnia.

I have had a reply from mu homepath - he suggested to stop the mrec cur at the moment and use 30c nux 2x daily and to use avena satica compound drops.

One question that follows from this... grains usually stop me sleeping - is there much danger in using avena sativa in this case?

glad you got an answer from your homeopath.
do all grains stop you sleeping? oats are usually ok, but if you are sensitive to oats in this way then it may affect you.
Try taking the drops during the day before 4pm?

I have got hold of some avena sativa today, but I will leave off taking it until tomorrow. I took a 30c nux this afternoon and almost immediately felt better and feel quite natrually tired now. If I still do not sleep then tomorrow I will try with the drops. Thanks for the input.

Nice Post. Suffering from Insomnia is a great trouble. I had been suffering out of it. Its all because of the stress I had in the office. I then came to know about thoughtsbecomereality. co.uk and their Hypnotherapy treatment and then undergone that. Now I am able to sleep peacefully.
