Ok. Concerned and hurried. She goes pee as quick as she can and the tugs on the least to go back to the house. She won't even bother with pooping. Neither will the othr dog

the last two days, I'd say, she's been increasingly concerned with the fireworks outside. last night she was actually shaking and panting nervously after we went outside.

she also was audibly dreaming again last night. first time I've noticed in a week or so.

rom109 7 years ago
how this panting different than usual doggy panting? slower,quicker,gasping...etc

John Stanton 7 years ago
it's stressed. she's got her mouth open wide and cheeks pulled back tongue hanging out far....i think her breaths are short and shallow....It's the typical "nervous dog pant" I think. she just stands there with her ears back in alertness, and her back and tail are pretty stiff.

has the amount of fireworks sounding off-increased past week? more often?

how she respond when in house?and fireworks are happening outside?

John Stanton 7 years ago
no it hasn't increased. There weren't even any big ones last night. someone up the hill from us was throwing those little crackly pop ones on the ground and that's all it took. it took her a good half hour to calm down once we got inside and she couldn't hear them anymore.

when she's inside and can hear them she wants to be right at my feet or near us curled up and shivers/pants.

what differences in her response to day-time fireworks and night-time fireworks?

John Stanton 7 years ago
I don't think there's any difference. she's equally afraid of gunfire, and that has happened in the daytime and it's the same reaction. if she wasn't contained (leashed or indoors) she would run somewhere to hide I think.

rom109 7 years ago
how is her behavior?
cowering from mama bear and all tht we went over?
changed?SAME?

John Stanton 7 years ago
She seems to be less cowering etc. she's been growling at the baby when he comes near more often. But on a positive note she does still move away when he comes.
It seems she's a little more leveled out...whereas before it was the extreme of cowering and overly concerned of everything that I'm doing.

I found 1 remedy that has --this 'bang' fear exists--partial homoeopathic---

borax venata

checking over other points --see if has more homoeopthicity..with her other symptom characterisatics

John Stanton 7 years ago
okay I will wait to hear back from you on that.

darn...I used to have that one. I gave it to my sister because her dog has a fear of downward movement...I saw that was in Borax.

rom109 7 years ago
the thing with partial homoeopathic to charcateristics--usually unwanted symptoms occur--not a problem for the probing sort--but patients and patients of patients--the unwanted may be of such nature that ...well..''extreme" is the word...may occur--yet all can be managed----like the puls /headache scene we went thru...

John Stanton 7 years ago
Yes. I am learning.
This was years ago I gave her the borax.

rom109 7 years ago
I wasn't correcting you...I was kind of preparing u for idea--using borax --in a partial homoeopathic manner --it may be a big time drag...
to go thru any aggravation for doggal an you...

John Stanton 7 years ago
Lol oh okay. Well...if you think it would help I'd give it a go and just hope she doesn't get full body sores and mucosy diarrhea lol

rom109 7 years ago
well that's the thing -- --aggravtions -from-artificial
dis-ease ... unless of a investigative nature---is like living in dragville

John Stanton 7 years ago
Yes, I know. Just makin a joke. Let's try to avoid 'dragville' if we can. :)

rom109 7 years ago
for sure --dragville is a drag....would be stressful on u --with son and family scene u are working at..

Yay fireworks!!!
The dogs are freakin out.
My dog is trembling, panting quietly, alternating between curling up in tight corners and standing with tail tucked and alert.
She's very tense.
Soothing her almost helps but also seems to encourage trembling state.
Should I redose lycopodium?

rom109 7 years ago
She seems to want to stay in one spot, tense and stiff.
But she will follow either of us if we get up and move.

rom109 7 years ago
may be passed but if still behaving sam e way--dos e of aconite --would have helped at time of the "bang /freakout ' moment..

but if has settled down and no new symptoms since previous dose of lycopodium
then single dose lycopodium 200c

same water glass method as usual for dosing..2 pellets....etc

John Stanton 7 years ago
Yeah, it's over now.
I went with my gut last night and gave her Lyc 200 as you just stated, and she just went to bed.

rom109 7 years ago
ok--as usual --watch and wait

Everything seems to be going pretty well. I think she's been pretty mellow lately. She growls at the baby every once in a while when he comes near, but she is quick to move out of his way, so it's more of a 'grumpy old lady' grumble. She actually seems to be ever so slightly more accepting of him too. A few times she has (in a friendly/interested way) come close and sniffed his head.
I think we're in a good place.
