Diagnostic puzzle:Att: Jeo De Livera and all other specialist doctors

Thank you for your response to my below mentioned query. What is your diagnosis of this problem. Which factor is triggering this excessive gas production. I don't want to treat the symptoms, but I want to treat the disease. Is it due to gall stones or IBS or somethingelse. Gall stones pain is intolerable, which I don't have. What is the name of medicine for dissolving gall stones. Is there some medicine also for bone degenerative disease.

Best regards

'In 2002, a sudden discomfort started under the right ribs. I went for ultrasound. It showed 12 mm multiple stones in gb and a fatty lever grade I. This discomfort was due to gas. Soon it travelled to left side under the left ribs. Since I have bone degenerative problem at the back, It has been causing me severe pain, while coming from sitting or standing position from sleeping position or while driving a car on the bumpy road. I was not a diabetic person, but the result showed sugar even in my urine. In the next test, sugar disappeared from my urine, but my blood glucose level rose beyond normal limits. I think it an attack on my immune system. Blood work also showed that I was a recovered case of Hep B. Antibodies were developed. It is nearing now 4 years that I am having this gas pressure continuously. This gas is attacking me from so many points. I am also having acidity cough. My life has become miserable. The gas is now all over my belly, but mostly under the right and left ribs. A specialist doctor me that since I don't have severe pain, which is due to gall stones, probably it is due to IBS or fatty lever. Strangely enough one of my office boys serving me tea/coffee had also the same symptoms prior to me. This problem is hurting me a lot. This gas has badly damaged my backache problem. This degeneration problem is very long but I did not have so much pain, but only after this problem of gas started. I don;t know which is trigerring so much gas. In first ultrasound they could not see my pancreas, since it was obscured with gas. It is very difficult to sleep or get up or come out of car due to this gas pressure causing back pain also. Can some expert throw some light.'

I will respond point by point.

-It started in 2002 by discomfort under the right ribs. Gradually it spread to left side under the ribs. Mostly, it remained at these two places. Sometimes it travels down at both locations. Sometime I hear gas sounds.

Blood work and ultrasound showed the followings :
-Lever enzymes normal
-Pancreas not visible and obscured with gas. Now is visible and is perfectly normal.
-fatty lever grade I
-few tiny stones of 12 mm in gb
-Recovered case of Heb B. Developed antibodies
-kidneys normal
-all other abdominal places normal, no growth etc.
-First test of urine showed sugar in it. Later it was negative. However, blood glucose remains at 130.
-blood occult in stool negative
-no parasites in stool

Present ailments :

Gas pressure and acidity cough:

I used to have gas pressure under the right ribs and left ribs, but, now during day time, it seems to have somewhat relieved. Now, on some day, I get it. I am also having acidity cough problem during day and night sometimes. But sleeping is causing lot of pains in the back, which is associated with gas trouble in my belly. The back pain is mainly due to gas. I am having bone degenerative disease for the last 15 years. I never felt such pain, which I am having now. Sometimes when the gas pressure is excessive, I get jolts and feel pain by driving car on a bumpy road. My own diagnosis is, since the patient becomes half doctor, this pain at the back is associated with excessive amount of production of gas in the abdomin. Because, when the gas is not there, I make rapid movements without any pain. I would like to make it clear that there is no severe pain which is due to gall stones or even at the back shoulder. This is purely gas discomfort/pain.
I have constipation problem from my childhood. I don't succeed in full evacuation at one time. This constipation problem never gave me any problem with regard to gas.
I am somewhat nervous person. I have sitting office job.

I used pankreoflot for gas removal and that white stuff but they did not help. I also used daspataline for IBS that also did not help. This is english medication. I did not try hoemeopathic medicine.

I used to be bloated and acid erectation before, but now this problem does not exist. I do have acidity problem in throat which causes cough.

The gas is mostly under the right and left ribs. Sometimes it travels down also.

The release of gas does not give me complete relief or sometime no relief at all.

My mental state is normal. But I am a nervous person and do get day to day worries which is not a new thing to me, as this problem started in 2002 only.

One of my office boy serving me tea/coffee had similar symptoms of gas pain and back pain before.

Please read these replies in conjunction with my earlier posting reproduced above. If you have some other questions, I will be pleased to answer them.

khawaja,

it will take some weeks to cure your problem as its going on for too long now.

this treatment will give you long term relief as far as your gastric complaints are concerned. to dissolve your gall bladder stones, another set of remedies may be required. first let us concentrate on gastritis.

start your treatment for a week with one dose of LYCOPODIUM 30C in the morning ( empty stomach ) and one dose of NUX VOM 30C in the evening ( empty stomach) everyday.

dont take any food at least one hour before or after taking the remedies.

during the treatment stay away from rich oily, sweet, sour food, coffee etc. in short, have a bland diet as far as possible.

continue this routine for a week and get back to me with your observations.

based on your observations, we will modify the treatment if required.

if you have some aggravations in between, get back to me and stop the remedies for a day.

best wishes.

To Khawaja

I note that you have addressed your post to me personally and other specialist doctors.

I note that a competent specialist has taken your case and shall await your response with interest.

In the event of his treatment not being satisfactory I shall then indicate the remedies that can help your case which I must admit is complicated and may take some time to resolve.

The fact that you have multiple Gall stones each 12mm in size is a major obstacle as an attempt to reduce them with a homeopathic remedy can dislodge them and block the gall duct which will result in a severe cholic. I believe that treatment on a Lithotrypter machine is indicated but I am not quite sure if this device which works by projecting a low frequency sound wave focused on the stone can be used in the case of Gall stones although I know that it has been successfully used for both Kidney and Bladder stones. You are advised to consult a specialist on this matter.

It is very likely that your other problems will all resolve themselves if your Gall stones are treated first.

In the event of surgery being suggested you are advised to use the laparoscopic method which is relatively simple and does not stress the patient.

Joe,

LYCOPODIUM and NUX also cover gall stones.

i think the gastritis is not dependent on the gall stones entirely, however, once the patient gets physical relief,
i will modify the treatment to give more stress on removal of gall stones.

Do you think that it is safe to dissolve the Gall Stones which are reputed to be 12mm ?

I fear that they may get lodged in the duct which may precipitate immediate surgery.

Thank you for your suggestions.

Presently, I can not use hoemeopathic medicines, since my job in such a country where these medicines are not allowed. I will use it when I go on vacation.

About gall stones, I would like to state that my sister-in-law used the following medicines prescribed by a hoemeopathic doctor :

20 ml mother tincture of
-Chelidonium (Chelidonium Majus)
-Carduus marianus (Silybum marianun

She had a very big gall stone (a lot more bigger than mine), which by the use of above medicine is reduced very much. She has been using the medicines for the last one year. It is dissolving the stone gradually instead of passing through tiny bile duct. There has been a considerable decrease in her fatness, since belly was swelled due to these gall stones. I would need expert advice on these medicines and any possible side effects. I would also request you to go through one american website www.curezone.com, where some big doctors, hoemeopaths and other herbal specialists emphasize the need to do a liver flush to flush out stones from liver and gall bladder. They state that epsom salt is the best one to dilate the bile duct to pass the stones without any obstruction.

Joe,

you have a point there, but even if the gall stones get lodged in the duct, it will not happen so soon. it would take some weeks to get disloged and gradually reduce in size.

the patient will be asked to do regular checks afterwards.

just for the next 2 to 3 weeks, nothing of this sort should happen.

rishimba last decade
khawaja,

you are right. the gall stones gradually decrease in size before getting dislodged from the place.

also, i didnt prescribe you these remedies now because, my first objective is to give you physical relief.

i believe the gastritis is not connected to your gall stones directly.

take the medication for your present problem and you will find that the gall stones have also reduced in size by the end of a few months.

Rishimba,

My choice would be Berberis Vulgaris 6c taken in the wet dose thrice daily.

I have no experience with the remedies that you have suggested Lycopodium and Nux V nor with Chelidonium and Carduus Marianus which Khawaja states was used by his sister.

I am aware that Berberis V is the remedy of choice even though I have not used it for a gall bladder patient although a Kidney stone case with about 8 stones who was scheduled for surgery discovered that he did not have them any more after about 6 months treatment on the 6c potency in the wet dose taken thrice daily.

Joe De Livera last decade
Joe,

Berb V is a good remedy for Kidney and gall stones.

I concentrated more on the physical sufferings first as it would take months to remove the stones, may be a year.

lyco and nux would also cover gall stones but would be much beneficial for the present totality of symptoms khawaja has presented.

maybe, after a month or so, when he overcomes his physical sufferings, we can suggest a suitable remedy for gall stones based on totality of symptoms at that time.

Thanks for your valuable suggestions.

I forgot to tell something here that when this problem started, I took few tablets from my friend, who was using for reflux problem, Zantac. These were 5-6 tablets but they did not make any difference, no improvement. Then a doctor prescribed flagyle also to kill, if there is any bacteria, but no success. Thanks God, this gas problem is well relieved during day time. But during sleeping, I feel it a lot in a sense that it becomes very difficult for me to get up from the bed and then coming to standing position or to change position in the bed. I feel jolty pain at the back which is associated with some heavyness in the belly, as I feel movement of gas.
I want to confirm that the medicine which you prescribed for me is for gastritis. I am very confused by going to doctors. Some say IBS, some say fatty lever, some say due to gall stones. The surgeons straightaway say to remove gall bladder, whereas, internists differ that I have silent gall stones which many people do have. I also want to ask you whether Zantac and your prescribed medicines have the same effect or they are different. I am also using that white stuff for anti acid and anti gas, but no improvement.

khawaja1 last decade
zantac is a popular allopathic drug for better digestion and reduction of gas, acidity etc.

do not take zantac continuously because your body will get used to it and then you will need some digestive aid throughout your life.

no one would like to have that condition.

the combination of NUX and LYCO will improve your digestive system permanently and improve your fatty liver too.

it will have a positive effect on the gall stones as well.

when you take these remedies, do not take any allopathic drugs like zantac etc. also do not take any anti acid or anti gas powder.

just take a bland diet for 15 days and let the remedies help in bringing back your liver and gall bladder in good shape.

as you know the function of liver and the gall bladder are very important for digestion, once they are set right, your overall digestion will improve.

you can also buy RECKEWEG R 49 liver and gall bladder drops and use them for quite some time. it is marketed for similar symptoms and has all the remedies mentioned by me and your sisters homoeopath. i have recommended it to many of my patients who have got permanent relief by it. it will also take care of the gall stones.

rishimba last decade
sorry, my typing error,

buy RECKWEG R7 instead of R 49 which is marketed by the name of HEPAGELLAN also.

( R 49 is actually for sinus troubles )

Thank again for your response.

I would like to inquire another point. There are hoemeopathic medicines locally made in a country and there are hoemeopathic medicines imported from Germany. Which ones are better ?

khawaja1 last decade
you mean, I can take these 3 medicines prescribed by you at one time. It will not cause any problem.

khawaja1 last decade
german made medicines are much reliable. better take german made only.

take NUX and LYCO as i have directed, for a week.

after a gap of nearly 30 days, if the symptoms still remain, you can take one file
( 15 to 20 ml ) of the remedy mix for nearly 10 days.
it has to be taken 10 drops in quarter cup of water, 4 times a day.

again after one month, if the symptoms remain, take another file.

have the tests done by that stage for liver and gall stones. there would be much improvement.

Thanks for your suggestions. I will report the resuls after use of these medicines.

Another point which is from my childhood is irregular bowel movements. I remain constipation, though it has not much a problem to me, with hard stool and a sense of incomplete evacuation. Can you please also prescribe something to regularize my bowl movement and soften it.

khawaja1 last decade
NUX will take care of it.
