Vision (Snow, hallucinations, blurred) Page 2 of 4

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I've got the VS too and it's pretty darn annoying! I have never taken LSD though I have smoked weed 2 times. That couldn't have done it, could it? Btw it only started 1 year after that!!!

My 6 year old son recently has come to me describing this snow vision. I was really freaked out until coming across this web-page. He says where the son does not shine so brightly he can see lights like the static on a t.v. except in other colors that black and white. At night he can see it very well he explains. He also describes 'visions', his dreams in his head he can see with his eyes open he says. He sees the open eyed dreams (on walls, etc.) in the static snow view and that the visions are clear when he closes his eyes to see them in his head. He also claims to see oval shapes that float and become circular shaped when makeing a mad face (squinting). I have yet to speak with a doctor reguarding this, I have only began researching this. I do know he has a compromised immune system the doctors are checking into at this time. He has gotten strepth throat 5 times with high fevers in the past 2 months, he has gotten severe pains in his legs since a baby. And, he is extremely intelligent. I don't know if any of this relates, but it definantly makes you wonder.

For the past couple of years I have had vision disturbances. In mid July I became dehydrated and started with the visual snow. Also got increased floaters, starbursts and dark spots. I try not to look at a blank sheet of white paper or the sky ever! It drives me crazy to see 'little things' floating around so fast!I have had a history of anxiety and panic attacks for 10 years off and on. The VS has made my anxiety worse over the last month. I have had a Head CT, had blood work done, got my eyes checked and everything came back normal. I did have a slight asitgmatism like Lisette (earlier post) and have gotten glasses. I am trying acupuncture and this seems to be helping with my anxiety which seems to help with ease the VS. Most of the Doctors I have come across have no idea of what I am talking about when it comes to VS. I am trying to do research and find a way to help myself. I would like to hear from anyone with the same problems. Thanks!

I also have visual snow. It took me quite awhile to figure out how to describe it to people..and the best way I have figured is like snow on the the t.v.

I've also had floaters for 10+ years that drive me absolutely crazy (I'm only 23). The visual snow seems to be worse lately, and I too avoid looking at white walls, or paper, or the sky. Driving during the day can drive me nuts!

It also gives me extreme anxiety at times. I have not gone to the doctor for this (although, I have mentioned the floaters which they tell me is nothing to worry about).

If anyone has any luck in figuring out what couses the VS, I would love to know. I can't even remember what it's like to see something clearly anymore!

Three months ago after headaches and fatigue problems my vision became wavy and soon after the vision snow brgan. It is like bad TV reception combined with blurred vision and a wavy motion. I also have a lot of face and sinus pain. Like all the posts I am reading here, the Doctor and Optometrist find nothing wrong. Judging from the number of posts there must be thousands suffering from vision snow. Now I know I'm not going nuts.

Hi, thanks for your reply. How recognizable (I mean the face and sinus pain). I had that too. And you know what causes that!? Stress stress and more stress. I have got a burnout now and I am taking Prozac for it, an antidepressant. The pain in my sinusses/head is less and my VS is decreasing. Maybe, you're exhausted as well, plz think about it. Love Lisette

Thank you for the reply, You have given me a new perspective on this problem; and hope since you are experiencing less pain and VS.

Do any of you get migraines with auras? I notice the snowy vision after I started getting theses auras, where I would have blind spots in my vision, followed by shimmering lights, then most of the time I am left with a dull headache. Does anyone know if glasses help to reduce the snowy vision?

dcantrell last decade
Yes, I used to get those migraines frequently. I haven't had one in years though (knock on wood!!). I would have the aura/blind spot for EXACTLY 20 minutes everytime, only in one eye....then I would have a migraine for about 24 hours afterwards.

I guess it's very likely I started getting the snowy vision after I started getting those migraines...I never thought about it before!

No, I don't think glasses help reduce the snowy vision.

thanks for the information. How long have you had the snowy vision, is it getting better or worse. Any ideas on what helps with this?

dcantrell last decade
From what I can tell....it's either stayed the same or gotten worse. I don't think it's gotten any better..I've just gotten used to it. Drives me absolutely crazy sometimes (like right now!).

Sorry I can't be of more help. If you figure anything let me know. I'll do the same :)

Abbya last decade
thanks anyways. sorry you are experiencing the same. I am suprised that doctors cant treat this. I will definitely share with all of you if I find anything that helps. Oh yeah, I may sound parnoid but can someone actually loose their vision from this?

dcantrell last decade
NO!!!!!!!!!!!! You can't lose your vision from visual snow!!! impossible!

I've had several eye checks btw. ;-) Everything seemed fine.

do any vitamis help reduce snowy look

dcantrell last decade
I don't think so. I'm taking Prozac now which is an anti-depressant. My VS is decreasing. My opinion is, that it has to do with stress/anxiety and being extremely fatigued. Are you, by any chance? Lisette

I have to agree with the idea of being over tired. When I had this I was in my early twenties. When I closed my eyes I could see people , faces and so on. It like a twisted bad film on a loop. At that time I did a lot of late nights, quite a bit of drinking. No drugs though. I don t think Ive ever mentioned this to anyone either ? It went on for months.

Hmm...I'm in my 20's, but I don't do a lot of late nights & drinking. I do have trouble sleeping and am pretty much always tired. Pretty stressed lately too. I suppose it makes sense.

i know i already asked if any of you get the migraines with auras but i would like to know if any of you get the snowy vision and have not ever had the aura before a migraine. i do stress alot about everything but i feel like i started getting the snowy vision after the auras.

dcantrell last decade
Hi, I've got the snowy vision but not the migraines (so, no auras either).

Lisette

thanks for responding. I might should consider getting on some kind of antidepressants, I have taken paxil in the past and had horrible side effects, I would never recommend paxil to anyone!!

dcantrell last decade
ahhh
Why not try homoeopathy?

Sycotic last decade
Like what?

dcantrell last decade
Hehe.. I've taken Paxil too! and I agree with you, that's really crap. What were your side-effects?

dcantrell last decade
OH DEAR.. that is horrible! And it's supposed to DECEASE panic attacks, lol! I did have panic attacks but mine didn't go away. Now they're almost gone, because of the Prozac. Hurray!I'm feeling a WHOLE lot better. x lisette
