L5-S1 Herniated Disc

I have been diagnosed with herniated disc (12 mm) 6 week back. Pain in my left leg and back was severe for 3-4 week. I used to take ibuprofane, vicodine, skelexene, aleve but none helped much. Neurosurgen and my family doctor both recommend surgery but I am not ready for that. I take rest and do some light stretch exercise. My doctor doesnt recommend physiotherapy so I am not doing that.

One of our relatives are the strong believers of homeopathy. 2 of their family members had same problem and their doctors recommend surgery. But they took homeopathic medicine and now they are recovered. This encouraged me to think abt it. I live in the US and consulted a doctor over the phone for just 2 mins. He has prescribed me Calcaria PHos 3X, Symphytum 200C and hypericum perf 200 C. I have started taking these medicines and feel a bit better. Numbness in my left foot and thigh is there and left lateral calf is weak. I would like to know is it possible to cure this problem completely? If yes then how long does it take?I feel so miserable abt my weak leg and abnormal walking. Somebody please help.

Thanks

P.s. - If someone knows abt some indian homeopathic pharmacy sending these medicines to usa, please let give me the website or email address as the medicines here are 8-10 $ for 160 pills.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Obviously your doctor doesn't know what homeopathy is.

It is:

single medicine

similar medicine

minimum dose

He seems to be violating all three principles.
He is prescribing 3 remedies together and repeating them mechanically. Long repetition of any remedy is going to cause you serious problems.

You should find your self a better homeopath.

Homeopathic remedies are not expensive as just 2 pills can make a stock bottle (if you dissolve them in water), and you would never need to make a second stock bottle of the same potency.

So 2 pellets is all you need of one potency. And, with the right medicine , you would probably just need to raise the potency once or twice and you will be cured.

But for that to happen, your homeopath needs to make the effort to find the MOST similar medicine, and that requires a detailed case taking.

The doctor I consulted is from calcutta and very famous & reputed. People line up to consult him from previous night.

Someone please check my previous mail and give me the advise??

is it possible to treat numbness and weakness in foot cause due disc herniated?

Gemini2001 last decade
People can line up to consult indiots as well.

He might have a great success rate using multiple remedies for acute diseases. But I am sure he is not going to cure any chronic diseases using this approach.

Okay , so this herniated diseases is pointing to a particular chornic miasm , and will need to be tackled through the most similar anit-miasmatic.

I can advise you for this, but for this I need to know your behaviour, personality profile , your likes , dislikes , any recurrent dreams , your fears , any anxieties , any peculiar traits/habits , and how do you behave with your family ...

Also, can you correlate any life event with the start of this problem ?

Any life event which was shocking should also be mentioned.

I am 37 years old healthy female living in the United States. The pain in my left calf started in october 2007 after playing tennis twice. I was treated for muscle pain. Pain used to be more during evening but hot packs helped me to relieve it. I had chronic pain but it was tolerable. I didnt have any pain by March 2008 and I played tennis again and within 5 mins I felt that this is hurting my back a bit. I had severe cough and cold after that and due to coughing and sneezing, I started having more pain in my back and left calf.

A long road trip (12 hrs) and walking in the amusement parks for 2 days made it worse but still it was tolerable. I couldn't bear the pain after I lifted all my grocery and milk jars to my first floor apartment. I consulted the doctor, she took the x-ray and told me that space between 2 of my vertebrae is less so I might have minor arthritis. I was given medicines with steroids, narcotic drugs to relieve pain but Nothing helped. Finally I was sent for MRI which showed 12mm disc herniation between L5-S1. I was not able to sit or walk at all during first 2 weeks. I was sent to the neurosurgen and he immediately recommended surgery after checking my refluxes, numbness in leg and weakness in calf muscle. My pain was reducing and I was slowly feeling better. So this was a shock for me. I was worried and depressed. I spoke to some of our Indian friends here and all of them were in the opinion that don't go for surgery unless you are so desperate and your conditions is getting worse. My pain was reduced to such an extent that I stopped taking medicines.

One of the friends' 2 family members had same prob in India and the doctors recommended surgery and they ignored that and stated homeopathic treatment. They recovered fully and now they are living normal life. This encouraged me to consult a reputed doctor in Calcutta. He prescribed the medicines which I mentioned in my first post here. It has been a week since I am taking them.

Symptoms after almost 7 weeks of disc herniation are

1. Mild pain and sometimes mild burning sensation in my hip and back of this when I stand or sit for more than an hour.

2. Sensory numbness in outer left foot including smallest finger, and back of thigh including hip area

3. Lateral calf muscle weakness which makes my walking a bit abnormal (sometimes limping) and because of this, curved portion between ball of foot and heel hurts if I dont maintain the right balance and posture while walking.

I am worried abt my problem and keep thinking abt it. The support from my family and friends is great so my behaviour is normal.

I guess this is what I can describe abt my proble.

Thanks for your time.

Can you please answer the following questions:

1./) How sympathetic are you towards other's feelings?

2./) Is your intuition very strong ?

3./) How do you respond to consolation and re-assurance ?

4./) Also elaborate about any fears you have ? e.g. dark , heights..dogs.. or anything else ?

5./) Can you sacrifice for your family ?

6./) How excitable are you ?

7./) Do you mix with new people easily ? Extrovert or introvert ?

8./) Do you forgive easily ?

Be as detailed as you want to be.

I will wait for your answers.

1. I really care for others' feelings if I am close to them.

2. My intutions are not very strong but sometimes- not always - sense the things before they actually happen.

3. I do not pay attention when someone who I know is superficial and formal. I really appreciate real and true people's concsolation and reassurance.

4. I feel uncomfortable when I am at height and look down, I am in turbulant water.

5. I can compromise and secrifice for my family.

6. I do not get excited quickly. If I get excited, it doesnt last long.

7. Introvert - 85% of time when I meet new ppl.

8. I do not forget and forgive easily. I am very short tempered.

Thanks.

1) How CONSERVATIVE are you ?

2) Do you always make sure you are being loyal and moral ?

3) Do you find it difficult to break even a trivial rule ?

sameervermani last decade
And, please describe in detail your temper, when do you get angry ? what do you do when you are angry ? whom do you take out your anger on ?

sameervermani last decade
I am a short tempered, conservative and honest human being. I get irritated very easily. But I try to discuss (or fight) the issues with concerned people and get them resolved. This helps me a lot to analyze my mistakes and others as well.

Update - My leg pain from nerve compression has almost gone but the calf muscles are weak and they dont let me stand or walk for long. Sensory numbness on my foot and thigh area is still there.

- I have a question for Sameervermani.

My nerve between L5-S1 is causing leg pain. Why am I questioned about my behaviour and personal life????

Gemini2001 last decade
That is because the correct medicine in homeopathy is based on the person's mental and emotional traits. The mental and emotional plane of the person gives us the deepest indications of the disease.

If this is too personal for you, then I will not ask, but the correct remedy cannot be found without asking these questions.

The choice is yours though.

I dont know anything abt homeopathic treatment and never tried to go for alternative medicines. I just started taking homeopathic medicines because I wanted to avoid surgery and I found 2 people recovered due to it. Since there are many experienced doctors here, I would like to know whether homeopathic treatment helps curing herniated disc related problem. If yes then how? How long is the treatment? I hope now you have fairly good idea about my physical and mental condition and you will be able to find me the answer of my question.

Thank You

Gemini2001 last decade
Okay , so first of all you have to stop the medicine which you started based on just a '2 min' phone consultation.

In the meanwhile please answer this question:

1) Do you have a strong desire for company ? Or you feel ok even when you are alone ?

sameervermani last decade
I feel okay when I am alone. I also like to be with like minded people.

Thank You.

Gemini2001 last decade
Okay, please take 3 doses of Kali Carbonicum 200C equally spaced for 1 single day only.

No more doses after this. Just wait for 1 week after the 3 doses and then report status.

sameervermani last decade
No eating/drinking on either side of each dose for 45 mins.

sameervermani last decade
And this remedy is to be taken alone i.e. all other homeopathic medicines have to be stopped, otherwise this medicine WILL NOT WORK.

Infact I would recommend a gap of a few days after you stop the other medicines, and only then take the Kali carb.

sameervermani last decade
Kali Carbomicum 200 in pills? granules, liquid suspension? Which one?

Also I do not know how many pills will make 1 dose. Please let me know.

Gemini2001 last decade
If you have access to liquid potency. Put 3 drops of Kali carb 200c in a 250 ml plain spring water bottle.

A cap full from this bottle is one dose.

Do this 3 times for 1 day only.

I am a 44 year old helthy Indian male. My problems are exactly similar to that og Gemini2001. Aditionally I can not stand on my left leg toes. With regular physical exercise, the pain has subdided but the limping continues and left leg feels week.
Personality wise I am exactly what Gemini2001 has described of herself. Can anyone advise me ways to overcome the problem of L1S1 herniation?
Thanx in anticipation

Every case is a new one, and in all probability the medicine will be different for you.

Homeopathic medicines are based on totality of an individual's mental, emotional and physical symptoms.

Hence I would advise you to start a new thread regarding the same.
