Painful cough
My 77 year old mother is suffering from a very painful cough. She gets it every winter, usually in January, perhaps after exposure to cold wind. The cough is painful in the center of her chest and nonproductive. She isn't very thirsty and you have to make her eat and drink.
Her mental state is that she hates to be sick and doesn't want to be any trouble. She has a very weak bladder and wears pads every day. When she's sick and bedridden, she wets the bed and has to get up several times to change pads and pajamas.
Her memory is failing and she seems confused a lot. She shakes her head as if to clear her head and think better (but it doesn't help!)
I've tried Sulphur and Causticum with no improvement.
Any advice would be very much appreciated.

I gave all the information I knew to give. No, she doesn't have nausea or vomiting with the cough. No, there is no particular time of day when it is worse. It is all day long. I said I thought it was after exposure to wind but I'm not sure.
The significant factors are that it is painful down the center of her chest, that she is incontinent and that she is thirstless. Her mental state is remarkable to me in that she remains cheerful and doesn't want to be any trouble.
The online Remedy Finder came up with Apis. I know very little about Apis. Anyone have any experience with Apis?
Mahfoozurehman, I have tried Bryonia before with no improvement. I know this year's illness may be different, but I don't see her as being Bryonia. She isn't better for being perfectly still (she still coughs) and I thought Bryonia was actually a thirsty type? I know Bryonia is one of those that you can try for cough, but since this is a recurrent problem, I'd really like to find the simillimum.
I'm going to try Apis until I hear back from someone. I'd really like to know of anyone has experience with Apis.
Thanks,
Ruth
