foot cramps

Hello;
this is my first time posting. For months now, I have been getting intermittent foot cramps when laying down. Lately it has been increasing in frequency and intensity. I do not know why I am getting them (right foot only, usually medial side of foot, sometimes involving my calf). I would truly welcome any advise. thx. so much.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
So, when are the cramps??? Learn that when you awaken, DO NOT stretch with pointed toes. Teach yourself to keep foot bent upward.

Now, get a small paper bag, small like a lunch bag and crunch up the top so you can breathe into it. Re-breathe your own breath for a few breaths and the cramps should subside.

Let us know if it works.

Blessings, Sabra

thx. so much, Sabra. The foot cramps can happen at any time, but generally do not occur when I awaken. Generally they occur in the evening, when I put my legs up on a pillow or even just straighten them out when seated on the sofa (almost never when standing). I am able to somewhat use the mind over matter concept to decrease the pain once the cramp has begun, but I would like to know if there is a homeopathic to resolve the issue so that I no longer get them. I am most concerned because of the increase in both frequency and intensity. I have been on lots of websites that attribute this symptom to many things, but none of them resonate. thx. again, cinna

I too used to get severe foot cramps. See Lachesis (night aggravation) and Secale Cor for the cramps. Both have helped me from time to time.

Hey Murthy,
i know about Lachesis being very powerful. Have not prescribed it. Have just advised to go through the MM and see if all symptoms match. I have taken it intermittently for 17 yrs as it was my constitutional remedy prescribed by my doctor. No problem. But this is not to say that others will ot get problems when they take it. Must take it only under the guidance of a homeopath.

I find that a pint of chocolate ice cream relieves most any pain.

Potassium! Your body is lacking. Bananas are a great source. Also dehydration will bring that on. If your drinking alcohol, that's making it worse. Hope this helps and I hope you get rid of those, I can only imagine how annoying that must be.

I've had success treating foot cramps with Reflexology. The cramps disappeared between Reflexology sessions but, OCCURRED DURING the sessions! For this, it has been advised that a lighter touch be administered in the arch reflex areas during the sessions.
