Reducing cholesterol has to be done in a step by step method, as you have suggested that your total cholesterol is 305, which means it is very high.
First is diet control, avoid all fried items and foods, completely stop fast foods like burgers and french fries, while cooking fully reduces the amount of cooking oil used into half the quantity of which you are using now, then use cholesterol nil oils for cooking, avoid lamb/mutton, eat lot of fish, avoid thinkgs like ground nuts, chasew, badam, pista etc, and stop all underground stuffs like potatoes etc.
And out of the cholesterols there are two varieties which are very important, one is LDL also called as bad cholesterol, and HDL called as good cholesterol, they both are inversely propotional, so the more good cholesterol in the body the better for you, and this cholesterol can be increased only by exercise, there is no medicine for increasing this good cholesterol, so start doing exercise, walk in the morning, brisk walking, undertake swimming, aerobic exercises, and cyclying. these things are not for a day or a week but life long.
Try controlling your food habits and undertake the above mentioned exercises on a regular basis for atleast one month and then repeat the lipid profile once again and get back to us, your cholesterol level should have drastically reduced. if there is very minimal change then we can start treatment, because all cases of cholesterol abnormalities are to be treated with general management first and then only should be taken to medications.
so all the best in your food control and work outs.
don get carried away with the notion that if you take medicines and sit at home your cholesterol levels will be maintained, it will always create problems in the long run, so always try avoiding things and try the natural ways to bring back your health, if you cannot do it we can help.

The best way to start to deal with abnormal Cholesterol level is life style modification and exercise messures+food habots change.(It can be genetic also)
You told total cholesterol is 305. However it has got four components. LDL, VLDL, HDL and Tryglycerides. Only HDL is good and protective and rest all are bad. What is important is
(1) Your total cholesterol should be under control
(2) If your TG(Tryglicerides) is high, check and be cautious of diabetes risk
(3) Your LDL/HDL ratio should be less than 3. This is very important
You can reduce LDL and increase HDL. You have to bring ratio around 3. As rightly told by DR.Bhagyavasan, you can increase HDL by only exercise and activity(Which wil also help you in reducing LDL)
This is vast subject. However there is Omega3/Omega 6 & 9 fatty acids ratio which needs to be taken in care while opting cooking oil. Use minimal cooking oil and if you have to use than use Saffola(Cardi oil) or Mustard oil which are relatively better as compared to others.
Avoid, Avoid, avoid fatty foods.
Reducing body weight is directly proportional to cholesterol level in most cases. If you wish, you can try some ayurvedic herbs (Much latter, when other option dont work) like wheat grass juice, triphala-guggule, Tulsi (Holi Basin), Garlic(must be avoided with homeopathy medicine usually) and Fenugreek(Methi).
Reducing cholesterol needs PERMANENT life style changes, exercise, food habit changes and solid determination to continue the same.

Please consider that people post questions on this blog looking for Homeopathic solutions - Not all the other things. Otherwise - they could just as well look at herbal remedy sites, etc.
Please remember this in your next answers! Thank you.
