Alopecia Areata???

I am 24 years old. A year ago I noticed three bald patches on my head. Each was about a quarter size. The two on top of my head have merged into one patch. There is some grow evident but during shower time, I have noticed some hairloss, not on area of new hair growth but everywhere else. The third patch is on the side of my head (near ear area)and that has grown a bit too, though not as much. It was diagnosed as alopecia areata by my dermatologist. I am begining to suspect it is something else, since the hairloss is still present, even with the treatment he suggested(below).
Vitamin E,
Topical solution consisting of 35% absolute alcochol and 35% lemon essential oil.

Could what I have be tinea capitis or related?
Thanks a million,

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Please talk about yourself as an indivual. Likes and dislikes. Try to think about what happened a year ago or more in your life. Did you move? Just talk. Please leave some spaces so it will be easier to read.

Well as far as events that ocurred a year ago there are a few.I purchased a new car that I had desired for a long time.

Around a year ago, my car got keyed and it really upset me. I tend to worry a lot, so this event really affected me. I had a hard semester last year too.

As far as mentioning events that happened a year ago these previous two are the ones that come to mind as of now.

As far as me as person, well I am the type of person that is always thinking of something. As I get ready to go to sleep, I sometimes can't, because a million thoughts pop into my head, either things I have to do, things I have done. Now, with this hairloss problem I have been spending a lot of time searching the internet for solutions and treatments.

This condition has really affected and as soon as I remember, I get in the internet and look for treatments.

Thank you very much, I really appreciate your effort to help me.

I forgot to mention that my dermatologist also gave me some vitamins called Ocuvite.

Alcohol is not good on the skin as a rule, especially the scalp. Lemon juice or vinegar is ok.

Worrying is a collosal waste of time. How in the world did you get into this habit? It is a habit you know. No matter what you worry about it will change nothing. It will happen or it will not happen.

Over these past weeks, many have suggested Homeopathic Nux Vomica 6X for hair losses. Take 3 times a day for two weeks.

"My car got keyed." Does this mean stolen or crashed? What if you were in the tsunami? Would you fall apart or would you be a helper?

There is no "general" remedy or medicine for hair loss or anything else for that matter. One has to begin with themselves and examine their life style.

You will find a dozen things online that say will help, but I doubt the truth of it. Don't waste your money.

There are several homeopathic remedies that do help. It is not like a magic pill. One has to report symptoms and talk a lot until someone here recognizes the correct treatment. Begin with the Nux.

Post often to talk to us. The best vitamin is ZINK for the body and hair. Three tabs per day.

My experience shows that when people are in intense stress period they have Alopecia Areata or patches of hair loss.

Best thing will be leading a stress free life. Ask for a medicine to cure your mind from extremes.

Thanks for all your advise. As far as the ZINK vitamins, what potency should I take? I do not want to take the inappropriate potentcy of ZINK three times a day.
Thank You,

My dog had venereal tumour in dec 2003 and underwent chemotherapy of vicncristine. Two to three months ago he started having baldness on the croup area near his tail and is beginning to show alopecia at the shoulder joints .At the same time he had anal sac infection. Hence he had been getting silica 30 C plussing for a month. The anal sac infection appeared to worsen since silica but now appears to stop. I believe the silica made him discharge more pus. But his coat shows no improvement at all. So I switched to fluoric acid 6C plussed. No improvement . Please help!

I discovered a patch in the middle of my head about 4 years ago. I have been to a specialist and they prescribed me some Betnovate scalp lotion. This hasn't worked. I have now got to the stage where I am sick of everyone saying I am bald when I actually suffer from Alopecia. I went to Holland and Barret and they have told me to take a 3 month course of Royal Jelly. I am not sure this will work but if it does I will let you know. In the meantime, if anyone has any other remedies they can suggest, please feel free.
