Pilonidal cyst & Mr. Pankaj Varma's treament - starting Page 2 of 4

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Dear Pankaj-ji
I have been taking the prescribed medicines. The area has been completely clean for a week now. Pain exists but when I sit or put pressure on it for long hours, otherwise, there is no presence of infection of any kind.

I think it may be time to take long term treatment to prevent pus formation or inflammation.

Do you suggest Silicea 200 / Hepar Sulph - something I can take to prevent inflammation on an ongoing basis?

Thank you for your assistance.

shankar_ramani last decade
Pl. continue with the following for a week at least. Don 't be in a hurry to jump to the next step.

Silicea in low potency like...6c or 30X (preferably not 30c)...this will expel the pus.

Take Calcarea Sulph 6x ...four times a day...four pills each time.

Belladona 200 one or two doses in gap of one hour when pain occurs.

Post feed back in a week.

The above meds are giving you a long term benefit.

Dear Pankaj-ji,

I've been taking the medicines, but I need to report some other related activities during the past week.

The pain while sitting never seemed to go away while infection, discharge etc.. was zero - the area was and is absolutely clean. On one day, the pain when sitting for 2 hours was so intense that I decided to visit the same physician again who this time recommended a more detailed examination by a surgeon. When I visited 2 different experts (surgeons) on pilonidal sinus and cysts, both told me that there is no cyst nor any trace of infection at the moment and both said that the pain is not due to abscess. In fact, they said that they have nothing to treat me for pilonidal cyst or infection. They recommended trying out pain management treatment for the coccyx / tail bone and both mentioned that inflammation of the tail bone may be a likely cause since this level of pain with no infection at all is unlikely due to pilonidal sinus.

I also mentioned the mild discharge that I have been seeing on occasions and the fact that I had my pilonidal surgery 18 years ago - they didn't know why that could be happening.

My analysis therefore is that I have 2 problems that are related to each other somewhat - a minor / mild recurrence of pilonidal sinus that causes the occasional discharge under extreme pressure or heat due the area getting inflamed.

Second is likely some kind of a tail bone inflammation or some other problem in the coccyx that needs further analysis or different treatment.

Inflammation and sitting for long hours seems to be common to both.

I certainly think that I have to continue my homeopathy medicines for the long term for pilonidal sinus problem since it is the only permanent cure, but do you now recommend additional medicines for tail bone pain / inflammation? Or would the same medicines fix both?

Also, do you think it is time now to switch to higher potency of Silicea and / or hepar sulph?

Seems like Apis Mellifica (based on search for remedy in abchomeopathy) is additional remedy solution, but I am no expert in this area, of course.

I also read through various stories on coccyx.org and how pain when sitting develops and it does seem very much like something else other than just pilonidal is my problem.

Thanks as always for your support - I am really hoping some combination of homeopathic medicines can help me get out of this gradually.

Regards,
shankar

Can you explain the nature and exact location of the pain and any other symptoms that you have noticed during these days.

On Remedy Finder ...give me names of the top three meds that were indicated in the answer (including Apis Mel)..

Have you noticed any skin allergies ??

PANKAJ VARMA last decade
Skin Allergies

I am not sure if warts qualify as skin allergies, but I have developed a few black colored small warts on my neck and few other parts of my body - they are harmless though.

On the Remedy Finder - Apis Mel came as the best match.

When I chose View Grid, I saw Silicea and also saw a few others listed such as Petroleum, Sulphur, Hepar Sulph, Belladona.

But when I read through the descriptions of Petroleum, Sulphur etc.. it did not seem to match my personality. Hepar Sulph seemed to match closer than Silicea.

In summary, I felt that Apis Mel and Silicea / Hepar Sulph combination was the best option for the symptoms I selected.

Thanks much,
shankar

Sorry, additional info.

Nature of pain and exact location.

This occurs only when I sit down and am completely pain free and very active otherwise with no pain.

The pain is in the center between the buttocks, about 1 inch below where the parting begins.

On occasions, I have noticed that the pain is somewhat and slightly more on the left than the right buttock, but largely it is right in the center.

On the last 3 occasions when I had a mild discharge was long flights / drives with sultry conditions. Pain kept increasing in intensity after 2 hours of sitting.

Recent most intense pain was when I sat down for 1 hour 15 mins, did not feel the pain until I moved once to shift my position - meaning pressure was applied and no pain resulted until I slightly raised myself and then the pain shot up and then onwards, I almost started feeling dizzy in pain and it only increased until I was forced to stand up.

1 min. after I stood up the pain was gone, entirely with no semblance of anything being wrong.

Again, no infection, no discharge nothing at all on this occasion, just raw shooting pain.

On the odd occasion, when I run around while playing, at random positions, there is an instant of mild pain due to skin / flesh movement, but very instantaneous and goes away right after.

Hope this helps.

best,
Shankar

Sorry more info, in addition to the 2 posts above.

The same pain has been with me for 15 years. It used to be very mild and with extreme sitting like 9 hours of sitting at a stretch.

Since last December, when I was very heavy and obese, I had to sit cross legged on the floor for several functions. AFter 3 or 4 such sittings, the pain increased in intensity sharply so much that I could never sit at all.

It remained that way till March this year when I found it difficult to sit even for 10 mins. Then I started my weight loss journey and lost 45 pounds so far.

Now I am able to sit without putting pressure or sitting one sided for 2 hours or so.

Still the root cause of the pain has not gone away.

I was linking it all the while to pilonidal sinus, but seems like the 2 specialists are unanimous in their opinion that it is not exactly pilonidal but tail bone pain and inflammation - or at least that is the closest they have come to.

I went to 2 expert colon rectal surgeons (they are ones that treat pilonidals today).

Sorry 1 more post, in addition to the 3 above.

I have a strong tendency to form heat boils, have them on a weekly basis.

In general, body tends to get heated up due to over activity of brain and less than necessary sleep - I have to keep applying a lot of cooling hair oil to keep it under control.

Aesculus Hip 200

Will take away the pain in that area

Take 3 doses in gap of 1/2 hour on day 1

day 3 ...one dose

day 5 ...one dose

then stop.

(All in the morning on empty stomach)

after 12 noon ..take Calcarea Sulph 6x twice a day..this will remove the tendency to formation of boils. (continue this for 3 weeks).

Thanks again,

shankar_ramani last decade
Dear Pankaj-ji,
I tried Aesculus hip and it did not produce any difference. I have been continuing taking Calcarea Sulph regularly per your earlier recommendation.

I finally had to visit a pain management specialist and then get an MRI scan done of the sacrum and coccyx to analyze what was causing the pain.

Here's the report and diagnosis by the doctor -

The scan demonstrates a small tract or elongated area of scar tissue within the buttock subcutaneous tissue, just above the buttock crease, slightly to the left of the midline. There is no discrete subcutaneous cyst or collection in this region. Small areas of susceptibility artifact are seen in the region, suggestive of prior surgery. No fractures, dislocations, or bone bruises. No muscular atrophy and everything else normal in the pelvic area.

--------

Although the pain management specialist has recommended a visit to the surgeon and I suspect the surgeon will likely recommend excision of the tract through a minor surgery, I feel certain that my tendency for pilonidal sinus has clearly caused the tract to be formed. It has not been very severe such as that due to a cyst but there is a pilonidal tract for sure and likely an infected one - this is why the pain is so intense. The drainage has been minimal to none and only mildly for three times in the last 8 months.

So, I want to now check with you for a permanent solution to prevent the tendency to form pus (pilonidal sinus). As you well know, even if the sinus tract is removed through surgery, I feel that unless I rectify this tendency there will be a future repeat of the same problem after several years again - my last pilonidal surgery was in 1990, so it took 19 years for it to recur even though it was mild. But I feel that there has always minor internal discharge over the years because I have been feeling the pain mildly since 1995 and it only grew severe this year.

So regardless of what the temporary and immediate cure for the pain is or what the excision / other techniques may occur, I need your kind help for long term preventive cure.

Do I just continue with Calcarea Sulph or do you recommend something else, now that the problem is clear from the MRI scan. It is also clear, I suppose that there is no cyst - the lack of results from Myristica confirmed this as well.

Thanks for your help.

HI Dr. Varma,
I am female and I got the pilonidal cyst for the first time. I have no pain, warmth, swelling around the area. I do have a cyst in the sacrococcygeal area which has been draining blood and/or fluid from it. I do have 2 dimples in the middle of the gluteal cleft. I have been cleaning the area with dettol and have been putting cotton balls with castor oil on them to try to drain it out. I have just found out today that homeopathic remedies may actually cure this disease. I do not want to have a surgery. I have read many of your posts and have ordered the following medications:
1) Myristica 200ck
2) Silicea 6
3) Calcarea Sulphurica 6
4) Silicea 200ck
I have found the treatment regimen from a post:
Start with:
Myristica Sebifera 200C - 3 times (take 5 pills, wait 1 hour
before eating anything) - 1 dose
Clean local area with calendula cream

To
start 48hs after Myristica and take during 1 week:
Silicea 6C (pills)- take
4 pills 4 times a day

To start 48hs after Myristica and take during 1
month:
Calcarea Sulphur 6x - take 4 pills 3 times a day 1 hour after Silicea

To take when Silicea 6C has finished:
1 dose of Silicea 200C at
morning and 1 dose at night - just one day

The way I understand it. All of them of the medications I take only 1 day. I am not sure if that's right. Please tell me what I need to do or if I understood it correctly or not. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Nawaz-ji,
I just got the berberis vulgaris through mail. I just took the 1st dose. I was wondering if it has to be in regular intervals.
Thank you very much all your help. I really hope that this is going to stop the drainage.

Hi Harrylilly,

Please give 4 hours gap.

Down the road, you will be needing more remedies to fully dry and close the cyst.

Please list all remedies you have at home right now?

BV is not going to do the complete job. This remedy will control your blood and yellow color pus. Then, change in your symptoms will be white/watery color discharge indicating your miasm change and road to recovery. So, there is no quick fix, therefore, please take this problem seriously as it is a bad disease and one must respect, and be patient.

Many prayers for your good health.

Nawaz

Merc. Sol 200C
Alumen 30C

Hi,
I have a few questions about the medications.
Does sulphur stand for something else or is it just sulphur? Is there certain quantity I need to buy (ex: 30 ml or 60 ml bottle)? Please let me know.
Right now, the pus is reddish brown in color. It was never really yellow, more red than any other color. There definitely is a reduction in the quantity of pus. I will post the changes as I see them. Mentally, I am feeling fine.
Thank you.
