Old man - Haemorrhoids, Acidity
I am suffering from pilesand acidity for some years.I shall be grateful for any help.2. First about acidity. I am woken from sleep almost daily about 3/4 hours after dinner i.e at about 1/2 AM. The acidity is quite severe and forces me to get up. It is worse when I lie on my right side. There is lot of belching after getting up and the belching is quite forceful. There is absolutely no acidity during daytime.
3. About piles/prolapsus of anus. The piles protrude during stool and force has to be used to normalize them. There is no itching/burning but there is a feeling of mild soreness in the anal region especially on touch.
4. As far as my constitution is concerned, I am around 70, tallish, medium built, mentally and physically alert, fond of exercise and an intellectually inclined person.

Please take three doses of Nux Vomica 200c at a gap of 4 hours for only one day (not daily) and report back after 15 days.
One dose means
If the medicine is in pills form 4 pills. Don't touch pills with hand. Use cap of bottle to take pills.
If the medicine is in liquid dilution form, 3-4 drops in some 20 ml water. Sip up slowly.
Please follow homeo restrictions like no coffee, no raw onion/garlic, no strong perfumes, don't eat or drink anything within 30 minutes before or after taking medicine.

It is 15 days now after I had taken 3 doses of nux vom 200. There is lot of relief with regard to acidity and I feel no distress at night. Thanks!!

Please don't take any dose of Nux Vomica 200c now. You should repeat Nux Vomica 200 only when you find that the symptoms for which you got relief after taking nux are worsening on sustained basis.
Please take 2 pellets each of the following tissue salts thrice a day at a gap of 4 hours for 15 days and see whether it helps piles.

For protruding piles, I have taken calc flour and kali muir 6x for 15 days but there is no noticeable improvement so far. So, continue for another 15 days or any change in prescription ??

I had taken 3 doses of Aesculus 30, 10 days ago as directed and there appears to be a slight(very slight)reduction in the congestion/soreness in the anal region although pilesstill protrude(Quite obviously, I don,t expect miracles).

I have completed two rounds of 3 doses Aesculus 30 for 3 days with a gap of 10 days and there appears to be a significant reduction of soreness in the anal region, although protrusion still remains. Perhaps, some medium term(say 4 to 6 months)treatment may be required.

I have been observing the progress of your 2 problems, Hemorrhoids and GERD (Gastro Esophagal Reflux Disease) or as you describe it -- Acidity after meals especially after dinner. My colleague Kadwa has been treating since you first recorded your problem on February 12 2010 with a multiplicity of remedies but as far as I can see your problems have not been cured so far although you did record some amelioration.
I believe that I can help you and hopefully cure you but I would first like to have your consent before I do so.

My problem of acidity(gerd) has been totally cured.

Thank you for reminding me of the classical approach towards prescribing for an ailment.
As you are already aware, I do not subscribe to this classical formula and it is no wonder that I have been criticized sometimes unnecessarily harshly for my therapy which has been labelled 'Joepathy' even though it usually works.
In this case I shall prescribe my default remedy for Hemorrhoids which many patients have reported that it usually reduces the pile in about 10 days.
It should be interesting to observe if this patient too reports a successful conclusion of his long standing ailment.

Your remedies are as follows:
Hamamelis 200c in the Wet dose taken twice daily.
Arnica 30c in the Wet dose taken twice daily
Nat Phos 6x dose 2 tablets taken after both lunch and dinner. You are advised not to drink more that a sip of water after dinner as this often promotes acidity.
The Wet dose of any Homeopathic remedy is made as follows:
Order the remedy in the Ethanol pack also referred to as Liquid Dilution in some countries.
Get a 500ml bottle of Spring Water from the nearest supermarket.
Pour out about 3cm of water from the bottle to leave some airspace.
Insert 3 drops of the remedy into the bottle and shake the bottle hard before you sip a capfull which is the dose.
Shaking the bottle hard is homeopathic succussion and this shaking must be done every time before a capful of the bottle or a large teaspoonful of the remedy is sipped as directed.
Please report your response in a week.
It is understood that you will not use any other drug or Homeopathic remedy if you use the therapy I have prescribed.
You must exercise moderately to sweat it out and drink plenty of fluids preferably water to keep your body fully hydrated.
You will not take Alcohol, Chille hot food, preserved meats like sausages, ham and bacon which use Saltpeter as the preservative and red meats.
Your remedies are as follows:
