Social Anxiety-This is ruining my life!!

Hi everyone, I've had anxiety for a few years. It's gradually gotten worse. It's hard to describe, but I think it is both general and social anxiety. A little about me: I'm a 25 year old female, work fulltime and go to school full time. I've tried Zoloft, Celexa, St. Johns Wort, and Sam-e to no avail. The Zoloft seemed to work but then I broke out in horrible acne and was sweating all the time. I'm too scared to try traditional medicine now because of the side effects and want to try a homeopathic remedy. My grandmother suffered greatly from anxiety and I don't want to end up in the same way.
I have a very hard time letting people get close to me and always end up pushing people away. I am also hypothyroid and always tired, could stand to lose a good 10-15 pounds, and have poor concentration/memory, and digestion problems. I have a twin sister who is 15 pounds thinner and I get so anxious when I'm around her and other people and I analyze everything to death all the time. She is so confidant and I feel that everyone is constantly comparing me to her and the pressure to be like her makes my anxiety worse. Because I work full time and go to school full time, I really need to take something for this. It's affecting my work at both work and school. I have NO social life. People are always inviting me out places but I'm too anxious to go with them. Please help me! I want to be myself again! I've read something about Gelsemium. Is this something that would help? I don't have the money to go and see a homeopathic doctor.

Hi,

I dont think you will be benefitted by Gelsemium.
The root of the problem seems to be "self consciousness" and "comparison/ jealousy about sister".

If you were thinner, then you would have felt more confident, and less anxious, right?
The weight gain is due to Hypothyroidism in your case.

You need a constitutional remedy to take care of it.
For that , you will have to write more about yourself.
Your cravings/ aversions, food intollerance, bowel habits, menses, nature, fears, perspiration, thermal state, apetite etc....

I am on Synthroid right now and have tried T3 meds before(and had reactions to that). It's not just self consciousness. I get all the anxiety symptoms. Racing heart, nervous/restlessness, jitters. I can't do anything when I feel like this, I just sit/lay there or pace around.

homeopathic thyroidinum taken alongside your normal thyroid meds may help. A couple of my hypothyroid patients have benefitted from this in either a 12c or 18c potency, taken 1-3 times daily - their mood/emotions/nervousness etc. has improved dramatically. You lessen the dosage if your symptoms improve and increase again only if needed - you should really see a homeopath for a consultation if you want to stay on this longterm. I don't recognise synthroid - prob cos we live in different countries - but if this is a regular allopathic thyroid med then Pls check the dosage of your thyroid meds regularly with your doctor as the symptoms you are getting could be related to the dosage needing adjusting.
Your other much more excellent option is to post your symptoms for magicure for a constitutional remedy to be suggested.......

Thanks everyone for your replies. How often should I take the Argentum Nitricum and in what dosage?

What does the ch stand for on the dosage? How much oats do you take. Did you purchase yours from this site or is there a particular brand that I should use? Thanks!! Do any of these cause sleepiness as a side effect?

Thanks for your post magicure. I'll list more about myself like you suggested:

Cravings: Tomatos & Salty things mostly, but every now and then I do crave something sweet. Lately I've really been craving meat (but I have a hard time digesting it)

Food intolerances: It seems like everything! My stomach noticably distends when I eat most things. I love tomatos but they make my stomach distend, feel gassy/bloated, etc. Fruit too. I'll eliminate something from my diet only to find that another thing makes me feel the same way. It's eshausting! I'm very self conscious about eating at gatherings or on a date because after I eat my stomach is definitely distended, & I feel gassy/bloated/full pressure in my stomach, pretty immediatly. I'm not a big eater so it's not like I'm downing a 3 course meal.

Bowel habits: If I didn't take senna laxatives everyday I would not have a bowel movement. I've been to the gastroenterologist and he gave me something to take which didn't help much so I quit taking it.
Menses: normal
nature: I'm not sure what you mean by this, but if you mean my overall nature as a person, I'm a pretty deep thinker, a dreamer, sad, hopeful, people genuinely think I'm a happy confident person. I definitley have to force myself through social situations. I don't know if this is what you meant.

Fears: Not succeeding, dissapointing my family, never having my own family because I get too anxious about letting people get close to me, nobody ever really knowing me because I supress everything.

perspiration: When I was super hypo (before meds & when my TSH was 195) I never perspired. I could go running with my friend and I wouldn't break a sweat after 5 miles even though I would be exhausted. After I took that Zoloft for only 2 weeks I was perspiring like crazy. It's been a few months and I still perspire a bit more but not as bad as it was. It's still made me go out and buy a special deoderant though!

Thermal state: That's the wierd thing, I'll be totally perspiring under my arms but I'm always cold. Especially my fingertips (which I know is a thyroid thing, but my TSH is now within range)

Appetite: Is pretty normal
