Three months ago I twisted my ankle at home, two weeks later it started hurting, didn't know I was supposed to stay off it, went to general practitioner who asked me to take Aleve for two weeks and go back, it got better in few days so stopped Aleve but pain came back went back to the doctor, he sent me to orthopedic who took x-rays and sent me to physical therapist my condition got worse stopped the physical therapy went back to orthopedic he did MRI then asked me to use crutches for four weeks, after three weeks I still had swelling on my knee got my MRI report it said that I have torn ligament.

HI Dr. Mahfooz,

Rhustox-30 you have mentioned does do you mean three small white round pallets because I can't find the liquid form. Please advise. Thanks.

Hi Anupamsrivastava,

I never heard back from Dr.Mahfooz, went ahead and bought Rhustox-30 (small white pallets) have been taking 3 drops morning and evening along with staying off my leg and lot of ice packing.

I went off the crutches two weeks ago,(was on the crutches for four weeks), started walking slowly, swelling seems to be going away too.

I did my own research on the internet about treatment for torn knee ligament, it was mentioned that it takes 6-8 weeks for it to heal, a week from tomorrow will be 8 weeks when I started the proper treatment i.e staying off my leg, and ice packing.

Hi Farkhunda

The other measures that you have taken should have benefitted you. i think that Dr. Mahfooz's suggestion has also helped.

Let me also tell you my friend that I have had it for 2 years and whenever I try to exert the pain comes back. So you have to be at it and at it, and strengthen your knee through exercise even as you heal it so that it does not get injured again.

Dr Kadwa, I have taken Arnica CM yesterday on Mr Murthy's advice and will try jogging two days later and report on the Forum what happens.

Hi Anupamsrivastava,

Thanks, I agree that Rhus-tox suggested by Dr. Mahfooz did help, prior to that I took Arnica tablets and applied Arnica ointment to the knee (an adviser who works at Henry's) had suggested Arnica and ointment.

I am sorry to hear that u still have to be careful, I will be careful as well.

I had similar problem with my left knee last year, it was misdiagnosed as well and later I was given Cortisone shot along with pysical therapy. I will never know what the problem was as no MRI was done, however left knee has completely healed.

I am also taking vitamin E capsules for healing.

I have also heard to take 1 tsp tumeric with warm glass of milk for healing, have not tried it yet, friends who suggested have tried it and are very happy with the results.
