Unclear speech in child

My 3 yr old girl's speech is very hard to understand. Might homeopathy help?

She is:
tall, olive color, very long eyelashes, pretty
very emotionally expressive- anger, joy, sadness, etc.
physically aggressive
likes to be/act sad
strong willed
often has tiny colorless bumps on her arms, legs, torso, cheeks
has a little orange colored decay on front teeth
wakes up about midnight every night, wanting to snuggle w/ dad
likes to be without underwear

Her speech has always been bad, but it is not improving much as she gets older.

Thank you if anyone has any ideas.

Sincerely,
Rebecca

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Before anything, you should have her mouth examined by a speech doctor. Could be she is tongue tied. Let us know.

Blessings, Sabra

Hi Sabra-

I checked her when she was younger, she isn't tongue-tied. I'd like to take her to a dr anyway to check the hearing but the boys dental bills come first.

She has had a lot of congestion and runny noses during her 3 yrs, so I wondered if that was influencing it. She talks kindof nasal.

Thanks!

Hi Rebecca,

HYOSCYAMUS 12C would benefit your daughter.

One dose every other day. (skip one day between) 6 doses=12 days.

Let us know.

Blessings, Sabra

sabra last decade
Thank you Sabra, I have ordered the hyoscyamus and will let you know.

I also ordered stramonium that kuldeep rec'd in case needed.

Thanks Sabra and Kuldeep!

Hi Sabra et al~

I tried the hyoscyamus- she finished the 6-doses-in-12- days about 2 or 3 wks ago (sorry, I've been away so long!) and I noticed no difference w/ her.

What do you suggest next? Kuldeep suggested stramonium and belladonna (I have both). I've given her belladonna before for various things and its never helped, but it did seemed to fit alot of her symptoms. Both of those seem to fit alot.

She is currenlty really congested w/ copious clear mucus, lots coming out w/ sneezes, and speech worse than usual. Lots of the little bumps all over her body.

Thanks!!!

Hi Rebecca,

Could you please explain more about your daughter's speech? Is it difficult to understand in certain situations ( like in presence of strangers etc...)or is just the same all the times?

How is her appetite? Any digestion problem?

What are her cravings and aversions?

How much does she sweat? on which part of the body? is it offensive or does it stain the clothes?

Does she talk/ grind her teeth in sleep?

Desribe the bumps: painful? discharge? cause? better/worse after?

How is her skin, palms ( sweaty/ dry/ rough...?) nails ( any white spots?), and hair?

All these questions (and any other information that you provide about her) help us to understand the complete personality of your daughter.

According to me, she needs a remedy that takes into account all the aspects of her constitution.

Take care...

magicure last decade
Thanks, Magicure.

Is it difficult to understand in certain situations ( like in presence of strangers etc...)or is just the same all the times?
-Its always hard to understand. She mispronounces of leaves off alot of consonants. "Adorable" becomes "dobo". SOmetimes there are whole sentences I can't understand. Its worse when she's congested.

How is her appetite?
-She doesn't eat much, then occasionally she'll eat a whole bunch.

Any digestion problem?
-Often has diarrhea-like stools. She was a colicky baby and food pretty much went straight through her.

What are her cravings and aversions?
-Likes sour things like yogurt. Likes spicy food. Loves salsa and ketchup, and green peas and green beans. Doesn't enjoy grains very much.

How much does she sweat? on which part of the body? is it offensive or does it stain the clothes.
-Doesn't really sweat.

Does she talk/ grind her teeth in sleep?
-Nope.

Desribe the bumps: painful? discharge? cause? better/worse after?
-Same color as skin, tiny and pointed. No pain or discharge. Pretty much there all the time, sometimes seem worse but I can't identify when.

How is her skin, palms ( sweaty/ dry/ rough...?) nails ( any white spots?), and hair?
-Normal, no white spots, hair is light brown and curly, shiny but gets dirty fast, she has a couple little patches of white flakiness, the size of a nickel. She resists having it brushed, sensitive to the pain.

All these questions (and any other information that you provide about her)

-She's usually quite happy, animated, sweet, and tends easily toward angry dramatic outbursts.
Recounts dramatic stories with lots of fake tears.
She hates going to the bathroom alone (wants someone to go with her).
Has alot of confidence, not shy in social situations.
Likes to wear the same clothes all the time.
*Screams* loudly in frustration.
Rough with her baby brother. Hates being yelled at. Refuses to be pushed down emotionally.
Beats up on older brother, will punch, bite, throw things, yell, spit.
Smiles easily, loves easily.
Loves to dress like a princess and believes that every woman and girl is a beautiful princess.
*Loves* being a pretend-mom and talks often about growing up and being a mom (looks forward to it happily).
Sometimes pushes her fists together until she shakes.
Loves to be naked.

When she was a baby she was very gentle and tender, and her brother teased her alot, and she would just take it. She would despair alot (and recover easily). One day, at 18 months, she *lost it* when he was teasing her- she clenched her fists and turned red and shook and lunged at him, tearing, biting, hitting... and has been prone to those outburts ever since.

She frequently has the boogers. When she does, both cheeks are often flushed.

Guess that's all I can come up with. Thanks for thinking about my girl!

Sabra and/or magicure and/or kuldeep, I hope you see this post!!

I went ahead and gave Abby the stramonium 30c that Kuldeep reccommended. We are on day 26 out of the reccommended 30 days.

This is what I haved noticed:
*No difference in the 3 main problems (unclear speech, tiny bumbs on skin, really soft stools). Perhaps a *slight* improvement in each of these areas but not enough to know if its real improvemnt of just slight temporary variation.

More times of being genuinely somber/sad/morose than before.

Her cheeks are chapped- dry rough pink skin just in those little cheeky circles nect to the nose/beneath the eyes.

She uses more complex sentences.

Shall I just finish out the 30 days and wait? If you didn't see my above response, the hyoscyamus didn't help.

P.S. I miss y'all and apologize for not checking in more...

Thanks!!!
Rebecca

Hi, I would like to pitch in my thoughts. From all that you have said, I feel that Staphysagria 30c (3 pills once a day) can be given for a week followed by Nat Mur 200 (maybe once a week for 4 weeks).
Nat Mur is very good for children who have delayed speech & also looks like she has silent grief. The anger, runny nose & desire for spicy food etc also call for this remedy.

Willway-

Thank you so much for your input!

DO you think I need to wait some/any time inbetween the 30 days of stramonium (ended yesterday) and the next remedies that you reccommend, of just start giving her them right away?

Thanks,
Rebecca

Rebecca last decade
Hi Rebecca
Pl note that it is NOT 30 days of Staphysagria but Staphys in 30c potency to be given for a week . wait for a couple of days before you start giving Nat Mur. Pl notify if you see any changes.

Hi Rebecca
sorry for confysing Strammonium which you have been giving with staphys.
have you found any improvement with Strammonium? If yes, then wait & watch. If not you can start off with Staphys immediately.

willway last decade
Huh, interesting, I am glad you told me that. I am not sure if the minor changes I see are significant. I'll feel it out and decide. I will keep you updated.

Thanks willway!

Willway-

I felt like I wanted to give Abby some time w/o any homeopathics, so I did adn then I started her on the staphsygria a few days ago.

So far the only changes I notice are that her little chapped cheeks are back (she had those w/ the stramonium, but then they went away) and her little bumps are more pointed.

I will check in again!

Thanks,
Rebecca

Remedy will only work if child is aware of her problem and is willing to correct it.
3 year is too small to be willing.

Hi rebecca
some physical symptoms seem to have come back. But how do you find her emotionally? Any changes? watch out for those too & Keep us posted.

So how does homeopathy for animals work then?

Willway and Kuldeep,

Abby finished the week of Staphsygria.

Emotionally she is falling apart at the slightest provocation. Normally she falls apart (starts crying, attacking, falling on the floor in despair) pretty easily but the last 2 or 3 days she does it instantly over practically anything.

Since yesterday she sounds congested, her speech is much more unclear, she sneezes about every 2 hrs and clear/white mucuc shoots out of each nostril and hangs down to her chin or even her shirt.

She has said a couple times that her cheeks (which are still chapped) hurt.

Do you recommend different remedies now? I will be going into the city tonight and could get one that I don't have.

One day during the week I forgot to give her the remedy, and another day I accidently gave her symph. (symphytum? it was right by the staph. in my box), then I gave her the staph. immediately following.

Kuldeep- in light of what you say, do you have any suggestions? Her being unable to speak well interferes w/ her enjoying life. I believe it has an emotional base- that she doesn't feel like she is important in our family, that her voice matters. I'm not sure how much of that is her own issue, and how much she picks up from me. I had the same nasal/unclear speech when I was her age, and my parents had my hearing tested. They didn't address the emotional issues tho, and that is what I am trying to do w/ my daughter. I thought homeopathy would help also, though.

Any suggestions??

THank you so much,
Rebecca

I went ahead w/ Willway's suggestion of Nat Mur 200c starting (tonight) a couple days after the staphsygria. Will let you know!

Thanks!

Hi Rebecca Thanks for the post. Staphys tends to bring out pent up emotions which is what probably happened with the little one. Do let us know further developments.

what vaccinations so far ? and when administered?

John Stanton last decade
Willway-

Thanks, I am glad you told me that, wish I'd known earlier. Are there any responses from the nat mur that I might expect?

Will it interfere w/ the the nat mur working if I administer other remedies during her treatment? I wonder bc I'll continue giving her the nat mur on thursdays; today is Saturday and she got some bad mosquito bites and I'd like to give her some ledum 30x or something to help w/ the bites.

John Stanton-

Thanks for your interest. I don't give her vaccinations, she has never had one.

Thanks all!
Rebecca

Hi rebecca,
Normally some acute remedies to take care of acute conditions is quite ok, unless they are remedies which interfere with the main remedy. It is quite alright to treat the mosquito bites. But if you waant to give anything else in future,pl let us know.
We cannot always say for sure what a remedy can bring out, so it is better to keep a watch in all areas:mental, physical. Since the treatment is for a young child, the mother or the father has to keep a close watch.

willway last decade
Just as an update...

she started the nat mur 1.5 wks ago, so has had 2 doses.

Boogers have cleared up.
Still emotionally extra volatile and *can't stand* to be alone.
Ignores me and my husband more than usual, just doesn't "listen".
Chapped cheeks have healed over.
Her stools got more solid for a couple days, but then have been even looser than usual, and she has to go more frequently.
A couple times has said her tummy hurts, in the late evening.

Her bumps and her speech are still the same.

THanks!!
Rebecca

I'll keep you updated of any more changes.

Rebecca last decade
Kuldeep-

If she were aware and willing, what would you suggest doing with her?? Some things I can do vicariously for her, you know what I mean, bc we are hooked together and I think she got this hearing/speech thing from me. So if I can do what you think she would need to do, she could possibly get the benefit herself.

Thanks!
Rebecca
