My son, diagnosed Autistic - New to homeopathy

Hi
Am not very clued up on homeopathy but would like to give it a try for my son, who is 4 years old and has been diagnosed with autism.
He is non verbal but shrieks a lot. He understands pretty much what I say to him instructions wise but has to be prompted a lot.
He can be unsocialable with other children and tends to ignore them.
He has learnt to use the toilet on his own and will come up to me and point. In fact whenever he wants something he will point to it. I.e the door when he wants to go out, brings me his shoes etc.
He tends to run up and down a lot and spin. He has a lot of energy!
I have tried him on the GF CF diet but haven't seen any improvement. Was hoping it might clear his bowels as his poo is always runny. Never hard.
He likes to sleep on his front most with his legs curled into him. I don't know if this is important?
Last but not least, anyone with any ideas how I can help him would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Hello!
I would like to help you, if I can.
I've actually worked with autistic people, adults. These were partly violent, and had a lot of rituals. There was a lot of fights. What about your son, he may be violent, or is he a quiet boy?
If you were to mention 5-6 different things that distinguish him from other children, what things would you highlight. What is special about your son, in relation to others?

When did you first noticed that something was different, with your son?
Can you also say something about the pregnancy, was there anything special that happened during that time?

'He likes to sleep on his front most with his legs curled into him. I don't know if this is important?'

Everything is important, everything you can think of are important to the case and to find the right medicine.

Do you mean that he curls up almost like a ball?

What about eating habits, it is something he especially likes? Or do not like?

As said, all you can think of, small or large, are helpful. Also what happened to you during pregnancy and childbirth. Was it as some sort of arguing with your husband, or others.
Or else you can think of.

(Will add that it takes some patience, in terms of finding the right medicine. It may also be that he needs several different remedies.)

Hi
Thanks for replying.

He is non violent most of the time but if I say no to him or he doesn't get his own way, he will kick me or kick the wall!
We noticed that something was different around his 3rd birthday. We wasn't so worried about him not speaking as we spoke two languages at home (now only the one on advice from speech therapist).
He had more autistic traits appear after he turned 3 and less willing to try to speak.

I would say usually he sleeps on his front curled in to a ball. Sometimes its on his side, with his legs tucked up.

I was quite depressed when I fell pregnant as had a lot of stress thinking about coping and raising a child finacially. I was 25 at the time. Also after the birth I suffered with some post natal depression although I was never treated for it. I cried for almost 2 weeks for no reason, just couldnt stop!
My son was born later than he was due, around a week. He was induced.
He has had around 12 injections since he was born. The last one when he was 2 and a half.

When you ask me what distingishes my son from other children, do you mean autistic behaviours or personal qualities?

Look forward to hearing from you again,
Many thanks

Hello Charlotte.

Ok, maybe a little bit difficult question, I mean personal characteristics. What would you say distinguishes your son, how would you describe him.

Another thing, did you noticed that something was different when he was born?
Parents I know, and who have children with autism, has told me that the children were quite 'normal'until ..... a certain age. Slightly different, but about 3-5 years.
There has been some speculation about vaccines may have something to do with autism, that I will not do,speculate in this. Maybe, maybe not. There was autistic people, before the various vaccines were introduced.
But of course, we can not ignore this, because it can show which medicine that is correct.
Homeopathy focuses on the person, not just the symptoms. But the symptoms are important. This means that symptoms are clues that may lead us to the right remedy. A remedy that can help the organism to correct the imbalance that has apparently occurred, for whatever reason.

Birth Depression is not uncommon, but nevertheless a serious condition. This depression can be expressed in different ways: 'The most common symptoms are
inability to feel pleasure, even over the new baby, sleep disturbances, loss of appetite or overeating, concentration and memory problems, hopelessness, self-blame and isolation tendency.

Some cry a lot, others feel petrified. Inner fear and anxiety are not uncommon, and sometimes physical pain is dominant. Most people have thoughts of death, and for some may be suffering so intense that thoughts of death or thoughts of harming the child can become a real threat.'
As mentioned earlier, a serious condition.

Would you say that you've gotten over this depression?

You also said you had a form of depression during pregnancy, can you explain a bit about this? How were you during this period, your mood, etc.Your behavior.
And how was your relationship with the father?
Let us say that a person, who was watching you, how would he describe you?

I also want to know more about your son's eating habits, or rather, what he likes to eat. What he likes best of, salty or sweet?

Sorry, but a bit more about sleep position, just so it is quite clear. He lies on his stomach, with legs curled up under him? Is that correct?

Another thing, you, your husband and you, speak different languages at home, what language is this? And where do you live? Sorry, but I'm a bit curious. :-)

Please, just ask if there are any questions.

Hi

My son is very loving (towards me and his father).
Loves to give us cuddles and kisses.
He's very determinded. Knows what he wants and will try to show me by pointing or bringing me something.
He's fun, loves the outdoors and running. The beach is one of his favourite places.
Very focused, when finds something he enjoys doing he will do it for hours.

I would say we started to notice something was different in him at around 2. By the age of 3 it was much more evident. He reached all the milestones at the correct age up until the speaking. He even walked quite early! About 12 months. Since then however he hasnt stopped. He used to run around and was very hyper active. This has stopped a little, but if I leave him to do nothing he will just run up and down and says 'urghhh' while he's doing it.

After my son was born, I don't think I slept properly for about a month afterwards. He cried a lot and always seemed to be hungry. I had many thoughts that something I would do could harm him. Maybe I didn't steralize the bottles correctly. Maybe I didn't put him in his cot the right way and he may die of cot death. It all ran through my brain and my relationship with my partner was very tense at this point. I was angry with him as I felt he was useless and couldn't help me.

My mood during my pregnancy was low. I was working at the beginning however I had a lot of bending to do and it was adviced that I should stop. My partner worked in the night and would sleep for most of the day. So I had a lot of time to think and worry about money. I bloomed on the outside but felt very scared and alone inside. During this time, I had a few dreams about past on relatives. I dreamt about my mother (who had pasted away when I was 14) and also my grandmother who passed on after her. I cant really remember alot of detail now but they were good dreams and it was nice that I felt close again with them.

When my son was about 2, I was desperate to have another child. We now have a little girl who is 7 months old. Since she was born I have felt much better. I still things running through my brain now for her and worries that she could be autistic too but I never had the same stresses as I did with my son. Maybe because she is my secound? Maybe because this is round 2? I don't know, she has definately been a quieter baby than my son but definately has the same appetite!

I feel now very upset and angry that there isn't more I can do for my son. I'm also searching for answers and question all the time, why us? Why my family?

My son loves to eat sweet foods. Anything bad for him really he likes! Cakes, biscuits, chocolates. He's a big fan of chips, pizza, chicken nuggets etc. He will however eat healthy foods apples, bananas, oranges and does like chicken and red meats. Not a liker of lentils and beans. He goes crazy for coke and sprite. Have tried to ban it from house, but keeps sneaking back in!

I was watching my son sleep last night and he slept for most of it on his back! I have caught him especcially in the day time curled into a ball asleep. Either on a chair or the sofa. He does however in the night fidget a lot and twitch. He always grinds his teeth.

We live in Crete. My partner is Greek and I am English. When we go over to England and speak English my son understands most things but when we are here in Crete I speak to him mostly in Greek!

Hope I've made some sense? Let me know what your opinions are?
Many thanks

Hi Charlotte.
After analyzing what you've told me, I believe that the homeopathy medicines your son needs is, *Stramonium*.
When you buy this, buy it in potency; 30C and 200C. Can you get this medicine in liquid form, it is good, but pills and granules are also good.
Greece is home to perhaps the world's best homeopath George Vithoulkas, I expect, therefore, that homeopathic medicine is relatively easy to obtain?

Once you have obtained the medication, take a glass of clean water. Pour 3-4 drops (30C) in the water, or 5 pills as you do in the lid of the container, and then directly into the water. It takes some time before the pills are dissolved in water, about 10 - 15 minutes.
After this, take one teaspoon of this water, and give it to your son, into his mouth. Only one dose, after this you have to wait a few days.
Remember to give the medicine at least half an hour before or after food.
Do not drink coke or anything with caffeine. Nor anything with menthol or camphor.

I look realistic on this matter, and autism is a relatively difficult disease to cure, but we will try.
But, please, do not have too high hopes. Although autism has been cured by homeopathic medicine.

Sincerly; Parakletos.

You should have a look at this homoeopathic website on Autism.

http://www.tinussmits.com/3734/home.aspx

I have begun to use Dr. Smits isopathic methods for dealing with obstacles to cure in patients that have been heavily medicated or have had powerful reactions to orthodox drugs, with some very good results.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies.
Will have a look in the local pharmacy which sells homepathic medicines as soon as. If not, will go online.
Which brands could you suggest?
Would you recommend 30c or 200c? If I could get it in liquid form would it be better than pills?
You said to give him one teaspoon and then wait a few days, after those few days, for how long should I give it to him for? Should I give it everyday there from and for how long?
And sorry lastly what is camphor?

Many thanks

I see that Tinus Smits uses, or used, he sadly died last year.
In any case, he used vitamins and minerals as a support for the healing process; Vitamin C, Magnesium, Zinc and fish oil.

Charlotte, you can do the same, give your son Vitamin C, Magnesium, Zinc and fish oil.
I would also add selenium, 20ug.
(Selenium helps the body to rid itself of mercury.)

Selenium, 20ug.
Magnesium, 3-500 mg.
Zinc, 10 mg.
VitaminC, 100 mg.
And, fish oil.

Thank you, Mr. David Kempson. A very good website, especially in relation to autism.
Hope you can come up with some good suggestions.

At first, I will try with Stramonium. I believe that I see, perhaps not 100% clear, but nevertheless, several symptoms that point to Stramonium.
Loose stools, grinding of teeth, autism, hyperactive, and others.
----------------------------
Tinus Smits believed that most cases of autism was caused by vaccination and side effects of allopathic medicine. 70% vaccination, and 25% medical, 5% due to diseases.
If this is the truth, that vaccination and allopathic medicine is the main cause of autism, 95%, one may wonder why, long before the vaccine and medicines were invented, there were people with autism?
The Earliest well-documented case of autism is That of Hugh Blair of Borgue, from the year 1747.
I believe that autism is a genetic disorder.(A hypersensitivity, weakness, of a special part of the organism.) In many cases, however, the body's defense system is capable of dealing with this disorder. But when the body, especially a child's body is exposed to vaccines etc, this could weaken this system, so that a disorder such as autism can flourish.
I do not think autism is the disease itself. But 'only' an expression of an imbalance in the human organism.

Some thoughts on autism, a Saturday afternoon.:-)

Pills are good, but thought that the liquid is easier to manage. But pills are okay.
Brand, well I do not know what you get at your pharmacy, but Homeoden is good, Boiron, Ainsworth and DCG. These are the brands I use, and which I can buy here in Norway.
Do you have difficulty finding this medication, I can certainly send to you, if necessary.

You should start with 30C, one dose. Wait 5 days, after that you can give me a report. Or if something were to happen. Try to notice any changes at all levels.

Please, look at the suggestions I have given regarding vitamins and minerals, in the post above.

Hello again, Charlotte.
I'm just curious if there is any news from you, regarding, homeopath treatment of your son?

Hi Parakletos,
Have been waiting for them to arrive by post. In the end I brought them from Ainsworth website. Should arrive in next few days hopefully.
Was just wondering though if it would be possible to give the treatment to my son last thing at night before he sleeps? Or would you suggest a better time? Its just hard to stop him from eating or drinking for 10 mins let alone half an hour. But if its better to give in the morning or afternoon, will lock fridge!
Let me know and will be in contact again soon,
Many thanks
Charlotte

No problem, give the medication at bedtime.
Must say it took a long time to get these drugs, is it not possible to get them through a pharmacy?
Had perhaps gone faster if I had sent them to you? Maybe next time, if needed.:)
By the way, have you started with vitamins / minerals?

Sincerely; Parakletos.

Parakletos last decade
Ok will do.
Has taken a very long time. I don't think the postman here comes out if we have bad weather! Ha ha! Disadvantages of living in a small village!
I have been giving my son Super Nu-thera vitamins on and off for about a year now. And Vegepa fish oil.
I was only giving one Super Nu-thera as I brought them in capulet form and they both smell and taste horrible.
According to the packet though I should be giving 3 a day! I have started this last week and noticed that he has more babbling 'ma ma ma ma' etc. Although he is still very energetic.
The vitamins have in them:
Vitamin C 250 mg
Zinc 5 mg
Magnesium 125 mg
Selenium 25 mcg

I did try to contact the Tinus Smits website but they said I would need to speak with a consultant near to me and as there is not one I will need to do this by Skype.

Many thanks

Hi
Sorry its been a while getting back to you.
I gave the remedy on friday night to my son. I didn't see any improvement on sat or sunday.
On sunday night he vomitted in the night.
No improvements from there on.
Have had a very bad episode today which involved a lot of screaming and hitting.
Charlotte

Charlibos last decade
Hello Charlotte.
Would you say that this behavior, hitting and screaming, is unusual?
There will be some time before you can see a change.
If this is the right medicine, it may be that the change comes as an aggravation.
Often when homeopath medicine, or life force, begins to work, you may experience a transient worsening. So I wonder if this episode, you tell me about, is common?
Have you any idea why he vomited?. Can you connect it to something?

How would you say he is now, after this episode? Some change in mood, and otherwise?

P.

Hi Parakletos,
I would say it was quite usual for him but we tend to avoid any situations where we know he will get frustrated. He isn't however quite so violent usually. Yesterday I did get upset with it all.
I don't have a clue why he vomited sunday night. It was very unexpected! He was fine in the day and fine again on monday morning.
He's still pretty much the same after yest though. We have done a couple of activities which he loves today and he's been happy. It seems to be me who gets the brunt of the violence. He will sometimes lash out at his father. But not so often.
Many thanks

So it may have been one or another situation that triggered this outbreak?
Well, we just have to wait a couple days, see what happens. If nothing special happens within 2-3 days, you can give one dose of stramonium C30.
You still give them vitamin / mineral supplements? Have you noticed any difference after taking this?
As I have said before, it required a good dose of patience. Could be that nothing happens before we get to the C200. But it is important to go all the way, with the C30 3 times.

Do you have something to ask about, or something special happens. Please contact me.

Hi Parakletos,
I'm thinking now the outbreak was over tiredness. He did have a long day, but he's so stubborn with his ways its hard to compromise.
He has been calmer on a whole since though, which is good news! Slightly less hyperactive in the house and followin commands.
I gave the 1st dose last friday, when should I give the secound?
Trying with the vitamins, have ordered some new ones and theanine, which I've heard is a good vitamin for calming! He refused point blank to take the others! And I've tried to hide them in everything! They really did taste disgusting so I can't blame him!
Many thanks

What happens when you give a homeopathic medicine is that the energy contained in this medication, triggers the human body's life energy.
So what determines whether we shall give a second dose, is whether this energy is still active or not. We can see it on the patient, it is still an improvement? Or has this energy to a halt, and need a new push.

When you see that progress has stagnated, you can give another dose.
How would you describe the situation now?

Mr.P

Hi
I would say he has been more co operative these past few days. We did have another episode yesterday as he wanted to stay and feed the birds in the sea but was dangerously near the edge! We had to leave and this set off a big tantrum!
Apart from this, he is more alert and we had a word yest! Google! My son loves a computer!
I'm thinking to wait a few days more and then give another dose? Poss this fri? If I see he hasn't made any more improvements? It will be two weeks since the last dosage.
Many thanks
Charlotte

Charlibos last decade
Sounds like a good plan. Had actually planned to propose the same.:)

Another thing, you say that your son was dangerously near the edge, he enjoys such challenges, dangerous challenges? And, it looks as if he is unable to stop what he is doing, must carry out what he does, to the end?

What do you think it is with computers, that your son likes ?

R. Flemming

Parakletos last decade
Hi
Yes, he does like dangerous challenges. He used to just run in the supermarket and would try and find an exit. Nowadays we've found a way to keep him occupied so he participates in the shopping, or he'll sit in a shopping trolley!
If he says goodbye to something (waves) he is usually ok at leaving.
He's very good with computers. He uses the mouse with his games and the keyboard. He's been pointing at logos and signs for a couple of months now. Likes adverts alot.
I think he likes the computers a lot from the games he plays.
Charlotte

Charlibos last decade
Okay, but then we keep to the plan. Please send me a report after the next dose, or if something special would happen.

A little friendly warning.
I see that there are different advertisements for medications that can help with autism.
Do not believe everything you read. Had it been so easy, there would not be a problem.

Greetings from a Viking, tired of snow and winter. Let's go to Greece. :-)
