ear pain in toddler - urgent!!!
hello...my kid has turned 2 this month and he is suffering from ear aches for the past 2 months now. We went to the pediatrician and he suggested a middle ear infection due to excessive cough and was given an antibiotic course. Things were normal only for 3 days after the medicine was over and the child started again with sleepless nights. Daytime went by normally with some light fever sometimes. On the fourth day we again went to the doctor and according to him the infection was not completely cured and he was prescribed another set of antibiotics for 6 days. Alongside i started using Mullien drops to completely get rid of the problem. Now it has been only 15 days past the set of medicines being over and he is starting to complaint again with high fever which appears every 6 hourly. I am giving Ibugesic plus to take care of the fever and pain and afraid to go to any doctor since i don't want to give another set of antibiotics to my small child. He is currently suffering from cough and cold also. Please suggest some medicine so that i can get my child completely cured without those heavy medications.

1)Aconite 30.(3 doses in a day, morning-afternoon-night).
2)Plantago Q (Mother Tincture). Mix 10 drops of medicine in 10 drops of very luke warm water. You can use this as a ear drops.
One dose means:
Use the medicine in liquid dilution form, 1-2 drops in some 2 sip mineral water.
Please do update your childs progress.

Thanks for the quick response.....but i need a little clarification.
1. Aconite will be in pills or liquid. If pills, how many pills should be given.
2. you have written that I can use Plantago Q as ear drops. If not, is there any other way to give it to the child.
for the dosage - is it for 1 or 2 above.
One last thing, should i continue to give Ibugesic Plus to take care of the fever?

Dear Avyay,
Aconite will be in Liquid.
1st dose in morning :1-2 drops aconite 30 in 2 sip mineral water.
2nd Dose in Afternoon: 1-2 drops aconite 30 in 2 sip mineral water.
3rd Dose in the night: 1-2 drops aconite 30 in 2 sip mineral water.
Aconite will take care of Ear infection and Fever as well. Stop all other medicine.
In case of acute emergency it is always advisable to aproach health centre. Dont worry in your case i dont see any emergency in near future.
Plantago Q will ease the pain and fasten the recovery. The procedure is very simple, make the ear drops as explained in previous post. Just slip 3-5 drops in one of the ear, wait for 1 min. turn down the head. All the medicine will move out just dry the ear (dont use any ear bud-cotton to dry). Repeat with the other ear. Thats the way you will be using Plantago. You can treat the ears with this medicine 2 times a day (morning and night ie:before going to bed).
Fever should be controlled with the first dose of Aconite. Keep tracking the tempearture. If there is no improvement repeat the Aconite dose after 1 hr. Try to limit not more then 4-5 doses in a day.
I am waiting for the update after first dose. You Mentioned it URGENT.

But there is no recurrence of fever after that. About the ear pain, it is very difficult to put the ear drops, since i do not have any sterilized dropper to do that.Can I directly put the medicine from the dropper into his ears. I think that will be doable. Please suggest.
For how long I need to give these medicines to him?

You used allopathic treatment in middle of Homeopathic treatment. I dont see any emergency like situations had arisen. In past you had given your child ibugesic Plus but still the fever is back, this proves the allopathic medicine had suppressed the symptoms.
I say it was because of Aconite the fever is under control, but ibugesic Plus is also in the picture, so it is confusing to say which medicine worked !
Fever, your child is having is due to the ear infection. So need to cure the root cause of the fever. And i think Ibugesic Plus doesnt look into that aspect.
Please dilute Plantago as advised, looking into the sensivety of the inner ear we need to take that precaution.
Fever and Ear problem was very much interconnected to each other. I dint have the update for ear problem ??

hello
there is definitely an improvement in him. I gave 1 dose to him of Aconite. His situation is improving. About the ear infection,I have put the drops only once since morning.He is still pointing to the ears and whenever i put the drops in his ears, he starts crying loudly. I dont understand the behavior but there is improvement since he is a little playful in the evening now after 4 days.
Also, he has lost all appetite and not taking food and milk. Will this situation improve automatically and for how long should i continue the medicines?

Do the child have temperature ? If fever is not there. Stop Aconite with one final dose. Keep tracking the body temperature for few days. If in future you feel the temp. is riseing you can use Aconite dose as explained above.
Please start with following:
Hepar Sulphur 200, just one dose in a day. (1-2 drops Hepar sulphur in 3 sip mineral water). Continue for three days.
Continue with Plantago.
Update for fever and Ear pain togather is required on daily bases. Because of pain and fever child normaly dont like eating food, it is normal. But try to persudae him so that he takes some food. Try giving him his favourite food items.
