Slipped disc

I have been diagnosed with a slipped disc.
The pain is on the left side of my back
My CT scan shows disc bulging at L4-5 and L5-S1
This started back in November 2010
I have had appx 8 sessions with chiropractic.
I have now moved on to physio with heat for 15 mins and traction for 15 mins
I have had appx 10 sessions
I perform 4 gentle exercises at home prescribed by the physio to help exercise the back muscle plus Hamstring
I use heat and ice packs throughout the day
I walk every day
In the past week I have started getting a little sciatica in my left leg
I always get a dull ache on the left front pelvic
I take ibuprofen to try and reduce the pain
My job is desk based
I do get up throughout the day and walk around plus stretch.
The pain can be really bad at times always in the same place lower left side of my back
i have not tried homeopathy to date

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I can attempt to make a prescription for you, but homoeopathy requires a lot of detail, some of which may seem strange and unrelated to you.

1. Describe the pain exactly. Give a variety of words to describe the pain. If I wanted to feel the same pain, what would have to happen to me (don't use the actual diagnosis of slipped disc - be more imaginative). Use an image that is not your body, to describe what it feels like.

2. What makes the pain better?

3. What makes the pain worse?

4. What other kinds of symptoms do you have, even if not related to the back?

5. What is your medical history of problems?

6. How has this problem affected your mood, your mental state?

7. What has been your general strategy in managing this problem? What has been the affect on your life?

8. Have there been any other changes to your health - Sleep, Appetite, Thirst, Sensitivity to temperature or weather, General Energy, Sexual energy - anything else at all?

Those questions are a start

1a The pain feels like someone pushing their finger nail or a pen top into my lower back. I’m get a sharp burning sensation. The sharp pain is always in the same place lower left of my L5. Just over the past week it’s increased and have experienced pins and needles in my left leg.

2. What makes the pain better?
2a Ice, strong painkillers, sleep seems to help relax the pain. When I wake up for first 30mins it feels OK
3. What makes the pain worse?
3a Sitting down at a desk, doing light jobs around the garden, car journeys,
4. What other kinds of symptoms do you have, even if not related to the back?
4a pain in my left buttock, pain on the left outside of my pelvic, dull ache down the left of my back starting from the top. and some pins and needles in my left leg from time to time.

5. What is your medical history of problems?
5a When I was 21 I but my back out lifting something heavy. I am now 54. Up until a year ago my back has been fine. When it happened I did not lift anything heavy.

6. How has this problem affected your mood, your mental state?
6a I am a lot more irritable with my family. I feel very frustrated because I can't do everything I need to do. It de-focuses me from, work at times.
7. What has been your general strategy in managing this problem? What has been the affect on your life?
7a I walk every day, I swim in the summer, I also get up every 30/45mins from my desk and walk around plus stretch. It has effected my life because I feel I don't want to go out as much, i.e to sit down in a restaurant or travel long distances sitting in a car. I find I can’t totally relax socially with friends and family.
8. Have there been any other changes to your health - Sleep, Appetite, Thirst, Sensitivity to temperature or weather, General Energy, Sexual energy - anything else at all?
8a Since my back problem I cant work out as much, so I don’t feel as fit as what I used to be. I eat healthy. I'm not overweight; I’m 6 tall and weigh nearly 190lbs

When exactly does the pain start - what are you doing? Does it matter what you are doing?

Is the sharp burning pain just in a small defined spot? Does the pain travel to any other location?

The pain is better for putting ice directly on it?

What kind of movements affect the pain? What specifically do you do when sitting, gardening or in the car that aggravates it?

Was the old back injury anything like this, from memory?

What behaviour comes from your irritability?

When you can't relax, what is happening instead?

What foods or drinks do you crave, what foods or drinks do you hate?

Is your sleep unaffected?

How does stretching affect the pain?

Is the pain consistent all day?

When exactly does the pain start - what are you doing? Does it matter what you are doing?
It does not seem to matter what I’m doing. Most days when I wake up there is no pain for the first 30mins. Then when I start to move around to get ready for work, sit down eat breakfast, there is a very slight dull pain. At this point in seems to be more in my front left pelvic. Then later into the morning the sharp pain starts up again when im working at my desk at the computer. I also find as soon I do any stretching exercises it starts up even a very mild exercise like laying belly down on the floor and coming up on my arms which is one of the exercises my physio gave me. I do this 3 times a day 10 reps each time; this is supposed to help the disc.

Is the sharp burning pain just in a small defined spot? Does the pain travel to any other location?
It can start with a dull pain sometimes at the left side of my pelvic, but 90% of the time it's always in the same defined spot, left of the lower L5 or thats what it feels like.
The dull pain in the pelvic is much milder it just sort of stays like that most of the day.
By the end of the day the pain gets worse to the point I have to just try and lie down
The pain is better for putting ice directly on it?
Yes it seems to numb the pain.
What kind of movements affect the pain? What specifically do you do when sitting, gardening or in the car that aggravates it?
90% of the time its happen’s when I’m working at my desk on the computer. I am just sitting upright using the keyboard. Gardening is cutting the grass with a powered lawn mower.
Was the old back injury anything like this, from memory?
The pain as I can remember was similar, except I did not have any pins or needles down my leg or this dull ache in my pelvic
What behaviour comes from your irritability?
just little short tempered
When you can't relax, what is happening instead?
I walk around and try and make the pain feel better. Or I will lay on a bed with an ice pack and read a book.
What foods or drinks do you crave, what foods or drinks do you hate?
I east a very healthy diet, fish, meats, lots of fresh vegetables, very balanced. I don.t really grave anything. I will have a couple of glasses of wine with dinner and sometimes a beer before dinner.
Is your sleep unaffected?
I sleep well 80% of the time. In fact it’s probably the best time as far as comfort for me. It makes ne totally forget about the pain.
How does stretching affect the pain?
Even though the exercises are very mild the one I describe above it seems to aggravate it.
Is the pain consistent all day?
I wake up at 6:30am. From about 9:30/10AM onwards it’s constant and it gradually gets worse as the day goes on. Early evening at about 4/5pm it can be unbearable

Ok get hold of Kali-bich 30c. You can get pillules or drops.

Also get hold of a separate bottle with a dropper. Mix together 1 part alcohol to 5 parts water in the bottle (any spirit will do). Dissolve 2 pillules or 2 drops from the pharmacy bought medicine into this mixture. This is your dosing bottle.

Then for each dose do the following.

Hit the bottle firmly against the palm of the hand twice only. Place 1 drop in 1/4 cup of water, stir thoroughly, and take 1 teaspoon into the mouth.

Do this for 3 days in a row (starting with hitting the bottle twice). Let me know what has happened at that point.

Stop if after any dose, you feel the symptoms worsen, or if the symptoms become markedly better.

Thank you for your reply.

Can you tell me what the Kali-bich will address. will it focus on helping to repair the bulging disk and help with the pain coming from the nerves.

Thanks

Any properly prescribed remedy is aimed at correcting the PNEI axis (Psyche Neurological Endocrine Immunological) which homoeopaths call the Vital Energy. This control system, when unhealthy, creates symptoms, and when healthy cures them.

We identify what the PNEI axis requires by looking at pecuilar symptoms, at mental and emotional symptoms, and at what we call general symptoms which are 'person-wide' rather than just location specific.

So the remedy I have suggested should realign this axis, which will automatically repair all problems.

I have just received the Kali-bich in 30c pillules.

Can you tell me the amount of liquid I need to use for the 5 to 1 mix. This will help me determine the size of the dropper bottle to purchase.

Also do I have to use a special alcohol.

Thanks

graham57 last decade
There is no specific amount. The ratio is just 5:1 water to alcohol. I use 15-30ml bottles typically. Any spirit will do - I use Vodka or Brandy but medicinal alcohol is fine.

Re the dosage. Place 1 drop of kali bich to a 1/4 cup of water. Do you mean one tiny drop from the dropper, or all the dropper which you can fill.

Thanks

graham57 last decade
One drop, from the dropper.

I have followed the dosage for 3 days and I still feel the same.

graham57 last decade
Continue with the remedy for another 3 days, but increase the number of hits of the bottle from 2 to 4 on the first day, then to 6 on the second day, then 8 on the third day.

I would also remove the step where you dilute into the cup. Place the drop directly on your tongue instead.

I have tried the new dosage but I don't see any change. my back pain still feels the same.

graham57 last decade
Well that definitely means the remedy is wrong. Are there no other changes, everything is otherwise exactly the same? No new symptoms or changes to the way your symptoms feel or affect you?

The pain on the left side of my back is the same, to the left of my L5 S1. The pain I was feeling at the front on my pelvic seems to be much better.

Hi-Looks like your case got lost
or something. But now the brisbane
homeopath is ill and not on forum till he gets
better.

I suggest you create another thread and ask
for Dr. showrav to help you with the medicine
prescription. He has healed people of this. He is
not on forum everyday tho.

Also if you are in USA? Have been thru this L-4-5
deal with 3 relatives- doing chiro, phys. therapy acupuncture,
and massage. The best thing that has worked
is a Shiatsu massage-unbelievable what it did
just after one!! massage and the results stay-
both people have incorporated daily stretching and
yoga which keeps up the flexibility and both
people can now do all physical things with no pain.
