Please can someone help with reocurrent coughs and asthma in my 2 year old please Page 3 of 4

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
So if he is better, just wait. It may be that both children have the same acute, which fits Spongia. What that might mean to him in the long term is unknown. It could just be the remedy for this moment.

I would wait 24 hours from the last dose, if he is still unwell repeat the remedy. If he relapses at all repeat the remedy. If he continues to improve wait and do nothing.

Ok he is better in himself hasn't had any nasty coughing fits but does still cough but not keeping him up all night it sound loose at present and when he gets up in the morning the cough does go on for a while so I'm unsure if the spongia should of nipped this in the bud or not? I know with whooping cough the full cough doesn't develope right away this is in the back of my mind but he hasn't got worse, what a tough job you have

This cough just seems to be the same I was hoping there would be no coughing this evening but he has been, still not violent just the same as previous nights but better than a few nights ago as it made him vomit then do I still wait one more night and see how it is and if I notice it is worse than last night repeat the spongia?

I have repeated spongia it is getting worse but it does not sound dry it is wet and I just cannot describe the noise of it I wish I could tape it and you hear it I have never been good at describing coughs, it's not dry and is noisy but also a bit of a higher sound rather than just a bark type noise Hhhmm thus isn't easy

Isn't this the Drosera child? Go back to the remedy I prescribed - the Spongia was the wrong one and clearly now he is getting worse.

It is but you said stick with it if he Improved and he did improve alot it certaInly took the fever down

I tried another spongia and it only helped a tiny bit so have given the dros now as I would of certainly expected the cough gone by now but spongia did 100% work for the fever, will report anything later

Hi David

I gave dros as i reported. the cough does still seem to be the same i think i may of seen a little aggravation but the coughing on exertion is no better, he is very underweight and would like him to have a good appetite like he used to when a baby. i do not know if this whooping cough was stopped or is it lurking around the corner as i do know it takes a while for the cough to develop but if it was lurking i am sure it would be slowly getting worse and just seems to be the same but better than last week when he was vomiting from coughing.
It does seem to be good so far doesn't it. but this cough it is barking and also loose. it isn't a dry barking cough and sometimes in the night it doesn't bark atal it has more of a higher tone to it,
I understand you cannot always answer as cannot get internet access.
Thank you Sophie

Move to Drosera 200c, which was my original prescription. I often find 30c does not work for very long in acutes especially for children.

brisbanehomoeopath last decade
the 200c worries me with this child ...alot, he has had belladonna, cina, pulsatilla and tub 200c andthe aggravation is far far too high. he even aggravates most of the time on a 30c. my other child i would have no probs giving the 200 but this worries me.
i did the pusatilla before and tapped the bottle before dosing and even that was too much for him. but what else can i do.
I will say the cough on exertion has been going on for several weeks so maybe something seperate.
Thank you

i still cannot work out if it worked atal. yes the spongia helped the fever and when i look at the cough last week it is better but i moved over to the dros as you said because the 2nd dose of spongia did not help for long. the cough did start to worsen yesterday so i gve dros and the cough was worse after and was worse last night but not massively and it is more barking today could the dros still be working as it was almost 24 hours he had it last??
this child responds very quickly to acutes usually. 1 hour or instant. is this normal or fast reaction?

This cough is becoming more loud dry and barking with clear runny nose, I haven't given anything apart from dros over 24hrs ago now and im not sure I saw any improvement after it just him worsen

To David can you please let me know what your views are on the above, I understand your views on 200 potency and you say you have never had a bad reaction on 20 years but is it atal possible that he is very sensitive to homeopathy? The cough is getting less now but still barking and a higher tone to it also
Thankyou

pixie wood last decade
I never said I have not seen a bad reaction. I have seen lots of those. Homoeopathy is very powerful.

What I said was that I have never seen someone who reacts badly to a specific potency regardless of the remedy. Does that mean it doesn't exist - no of course not. But I suspect that it must be rare if I have never seen it in my own practice.

30c will aggravate him now if it is not a strong enough potency. 200c is the next step, otherwise I wouldn't know how to advise you. If we do not try that potency we could be missing the correct remedy, so this is the most logical step. After that we can reassess taking into account whatever symptoms are prominent.

brisbanehomoeopath last decade
ok i understand so when i do try this i would need very clear instructions on how far i let the aggravation go for example he has had remedy for bad croup before and when it is very bad anyway theres is noway i would want it aggravated anymore as it could be dangerous.
the cough is good. it has lessened but is still noisy so am ordering the 200. i will also need instruction on antidoting if it is too strong i understand now why you need to do 200c as you could be thinking no remedy is working and going round in circles never finding correct remedies. i imagine you understand my concern too.
Thank you
David
Is there anything else you think i should order in 200c whislt i am placing an order?
[message edited by pixie wood on Thu, 05 Apr 2012 13:07:38 BST]

Antidoting means using the symptoms to prescribe a new remedy. That is all. I would be doing that anyway if he does not improve.

It sounds like 30c aggravated him if he is now improving.

You should really get Spongia 200c as well. On top of that it is hard to predict. There are 117 remedies with a barking cough.

brisbanehomoeopath last decade
ok lol that is what i thought. i will order now, the spongia 100% helped and i can see the dros has too. thanks David
Dros was one that kept coming up with my old homeopath but we thought it didn't work t is interesting now as you work quite similar but you do not give up on a remedy as quick as he did so i think this good. you are making very sure a remedy doesn't work before switching.
Thank you again

I think the cough is pretty much cured AMAZING and this is the remedy my old hemeopath kept coming up with yet only tried it once... this was definitely whooping cough as back in the beginning he had the whoop... only one night but was sick a few times also. amazing stuff. have got the spongia and drosera 200c on order but THANK YOU
When you get time David could you please look at our cases for long term remedies but please if this is too much I understand how busy you are, thank you again AMAZING

I am so happy to hear it worked so well. Very happy.

Ok now to the long-term treatment. I will post the form again.

1. Describe in detail the main problem - appearance, colour, shape, sensation, pain. etc. What happens, when it happens etc.

2. Describe any pains or behaviours associated with the symptoms.

3. Describe anything that makes the problem worse ie. position, temperature, food etc.

4. Describe anything that makes the problem better ie. pain is better for cold bathing or at night in bed.

5. Go through each symptom or problem he/she has, doing the same thing, even if the problem does not seem connected to any others (repeating answers for questions 1-4 for every problem)

6. When did each problem start? What happened around that same time?

7. What is his/her character like? What kinds of fears or anxieties does he/she have? What makes him/her irritable? Flesh out his/her personality as much as you are able (age can make this difficult)

8. What foods does he/she crave or hate? What drinks does he/she crave or hate? Is he/she sensitive to anything he eats or drinks? How does he/she feed?

9. How does the weather or season or temperature affect him/her?

10. How have all his/her milestones gone? Does he/she have any issue with speaking, learning, walking, climbing etc

11. How is he/she with socializing with others?

12. What is his/her bowel habit like? Any problems? Any odours, strange colours or stool shapes?

13. Where does he/she sweat? Does it have a smell or does it stain a particular colour?

14. History of illnesses in his/her life?

15. Has he/she reacted to any vaccines or medical drugs?

16. Problems with sleep? Position he/she sleeps in?

17. How is he/she with animals?

18. How is he/she with adults or strangers?

19. What is the family history of illness and disease?

20. What was the pregnancy like? Any odd symptoms or feelings that disappeared once he/she was born? Any symptoms that were problematic? What kind of stresses were you under?

Repeat the remedy again.

This is often the situation, when you treat an acute without trying to solve the chronic problem.

brisbanehomoeopath last decade
Ok last dose was dry sugar pill 30c do I do the same or mix with water this time, thank you David

pixie wood last decade
You must dissolve the pillule in water, at least 1/4 cup. Stir well and then give 1 teaspoon only. Cover it and keep it aside for repeat doses.

It is actually better to have a dosing bottle for repeat doses, but this will do in a pinch.

brisbanehomoeopath last decade
I do have a spare new bottle do I dissolve a 30c as he responded so well last time and could you give instructions for using the bottle thank you

pixie wood last decade
I still think 200c would be better, and possibly would create a more stable long term effect for him. But if you wish you can start again with 30c.

INSTRUCTONS FOR SPLIT DOSING

Firstly, you need to create a separate dosing bottle. Get a bottle with a dropper, 15-30mls in size, and fill it with a mixture of water and alcohol (5 parts to 1 part). Dissolve 2-4 granules or 2-4 drops of the medicine you bought from the pharmacy into this mixture. Your doses will be made from this bottle.

Hit the bottle firmly against the palm of your hand, or another elastic surface like a book. It should be a firm hit not a tap. 2 hits is enough to begin with, and should not be increased unless it is clear that it is needed. The water in this bottle will 'remember' the number of times you have hit it, so that subsequent doses will be stronger (necessary to overcoming the resistance of your disease).

Place 1 drop into an amount of water - I may start with anything from 1/4-1 full cup (62ml-250ml) depending on the sensitivity of the patient. Stir thoroughly and take 1 teaspoon into the mouth. Throw the rest of the cup away. Wash the cup and spoon in hot water, no detergent, and put them to the side for further dosing.

This is one dose. Repeat doses would be started from the 2 hits on the bottle.

Each step of this process can be adjusted to reduced aggravation or to increase the effect of the medicine. In order to be able to do this, it is important to measure each step (count the hits, the drops, measure the water etc).
