Dermatitis/eczema on finger tips

I have a friend who is trying to get pregnant, but has really bad dermatitis/eczema on her fingers, and doesn't want to use cortizone cream due to this. She finds that putting her hand under hot water relieves the pain. Her fingers tips are are reddend dry and flakey with cracks that weep. Her stature is short and thin, she is quite out going. She enjoys sleeping in, but is easily tired and goes to bed about 10pm. The cracks get worse when her hands are sweaty. She is just looking for an acute remedy at the moment, and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas.

Symptoms point to silicea but many key symptoms are missing in the description.
