Is there a Dr with good experience with CROUP and asthma
Is there a Dr that is experienced with croup and asthma??My son is 2 and just caught a cold. he used to get colds every 3 weeks but sinc having whooping cough in March and one dise of drosera30c curing it he has been very well.
I am not sure if the remedy kept him well all this time or a few changes at home because my other son has also been well and is usually sick.
Anyway i am concerned as everytime he got a cold last yeat he would get nasty barking coughs with croup and asthma.
I have given one dose of dros 30c today as was advised to a few months ago by a dr on here if he got bad again.
If my son wakes with croup in the night can someone please please tell me what to give him as this is very scary,
Many thanks

Yes that could be the case, which
is why you have to wait on it.how long
did he aggravate last time?-
What do you have at home? I have seen on here
Maheeru giving spongia 30 c couple times
then Hepar sulph,
I have also seen someone give Aconite 30 and then
200 c, the child had clear mucous, the croup
came on suddenly, so they went from Aconite
to phosphorus. one dose 200c.
What is the mucous like?

All I remember last time was day 3 was amazing recovery and cough vanished like magic but must of seen improvement beforehand.
How bad can aggravation get, he has a high fever also now and I cannot sleep as worried about the croup starting.
Fingers crossed it will not worsen
Best wishes

Only you would know, and if you can't remember -
?? What other remedies do you have in the house?
And what other remedies have you given him for
this besides drosera?
You have to list his symptoms on here-
started out like? what is fever like? what is
mucous like? breathing and so on and on-so you
can match the symptoms to the remedy. But if
you don't have many remedies then you are going
to have to watch and see what you have to do and
how it goes.

I have 2 remedy kits do have a fair few if the common remedies, he's had a lot in the past but my homeopath used to be quick to change if it wasn't working fast enough.
I realised this when dros worked for the whooping cough.
Simone do you still get aggravations if you use homeopathy the modern way or is it just classical?
Thanks for your help

Pixie,
you have things a bit mixed up.classical or modern or whatever
name you want to call it- everyone can have an aggravation if remedy is the
right match.
The classical 'method' some use (which does not work mostly)
is find the 'one' remedy that is going to boost vital force up
so much that - everything clears out. And if everything clears out
and you are well for several years and get sick- that 'one remedy'
might work again only IF it matches your mental and physical
symptoms and if not you need to find another remedy that matches
where you are.
Other 'classical' homeopaths go in Layers, so they take the most
pressing problem first and match the remedy to those symptoms.
then go to next layer. They don't try to find the 'one' thing that
works like a magic bullet on 'everything'.
An aggravation means the remedy has stimulated the vital force
to work. Old things reappear, and usually clear within hours.
Parents on here who gave Spongia 30c for Croup gave one dose
and child was better right away. Then they thought they should
give more bc of directions on bottle and then child croup
came back- but only for a couple hours. That was not aggravation
that was an overdose that caused a proving.
So when you give remedy if you see - good action , bad action
either way you stop the remedy and see what goes on.
I gave one of mine Aconite 6c last week bc it was a 'sudden'
instant flu with major chills. The Aconite worked in 10 minutes,
I gave one more dose an hour later and after two hours the 'flu'
was gone.
On your son, you can put croup into the Remedy Finder. See
what you get. That is what I did with the 'flu' and got aconite.

If your son wakes up at night with croup and have anxiety, you can give him Arsenicum 30C. It will calm him down, so he can breathe normally.
I've used Arsenicum on my own son when he was little and had croup. Worked great.
Aconitum can also be good when the patient has fear of dying.
Otherwise Drosera and Spongia are widely used for croup, but in an emergency I would bet on Arsenicum. (Arsenicum is also very good for the stomach flu, vomiting and diarrhea at the same time)
Best of luck.

I asked that question Simone because when I had remedies from Asad I felt no aggravation but one dose of prescription from David I felt strong aggravation so was just curious.
Thanks parakletos last night he did not wake atal his croup was mild but worse upon waking at 7:45am but am not worried as once up and about it clears quick, I have windows open wide all night as the cold air helps it a lot, I don't think he gets anxious but maybe he will now he's a little older, I'm wondering if the dros aggravated and I guess i will only find out by waiting to see what happens.
He's dribbling a lot and I can hear a lot of saliva coming up into his mouth during the night,
He's had all of the above remedies in the past for it but none worked but this maybe because I did not wait long enough between remedies.
I get very confused with homeopathy,
Maybe I will see how he is today and list symptoms later
Thanks to you both

Aggravation is not very common with modern homeopathy & that's its beauty.... There are many reasons for that but won't say much here as this may trigger a debate between modern & classical people.

I didn't think it was due to my experience and with how my children have reacted.
The aggravation is quite scary when croup and asthma are involved.. i wonder how far the aggravation would go and if it could get dangerous. i remember with the whooping cough it aggravated alot but also very suddenly got better too.
fingers crossed thats whats happening now although he is still pretty full of cold
Thanks evryone

Ok i am not sure this dros is working this time round.
My son has started to cough today but there was no coughing yesterday his fever was only there for the night though which is good,
Now that he is coughing it usually starts of asthma within a couple of days does anyone reading these posts no what i should do regarding remedies i can give more information or i could wait until more symptoms.
I had a homeopath that tried for 2 years to stop the asthma and croup and we got nowhere. he did manage to treat a few acutes though.
Parakletos do you want to have a go at this case or i can request a new thread for someone else.
Many thanks

Oh Simone i have all remedies you have mentioned above but maybe not 200c. my son cannot tolerate 200c everytime he has taken them he has been very very bad and been to hospital one time too.
David wanted him to have 200c dros for the whooping cough but i couldn't do it. we did 30c and it cured it like magic
My son has tried all the remedies you mentioned above but i do not believe the dosing or timescale of waiting to see what happens has been long enough,
I would be greatful for anyone to help with this case and parakletos i will not be offended if you do not want to i can post a new thread.
Thanks to all that have responded

Hello pixie wood.
Yes I can look at this case, but I need some information.
I enclose a list of questions.
This form may be a little complex, but you just answer the questions that are relevant to your son's symptoms.
1. What complaints do you have? Describe your complaints in your own words:
2.What Medicine do you take now?
At what time of the day are you the worst? Morning? Evening? Night?
After waking? After sleeping? Etc.
3.How do you react to the weather? Cold-warm-humid-dry-foggy-windy?
How do you react to draft? Exposure to Sun? Snowing? Change of Weather?
How do you react to warmth? Warm rooms? Sun? Warm bathing? Warmth of bed?
How to you react to cold? Uncovering? Cold Water? Cold food and drinks?
4.Do you catch a cold easily? Cold feet? Cold parts of the body?
5.How is your desire for open air?
6.Do you sweat? In general or on special parts?
Sweat during sleep?
Suppressed foot sweat?
7.How is your desire for motion? How do you feel during sitting? Standing? Lying (left, right, back, abdomen?)
8.How do you react to the sea, the mountains?
How can you stand the pressure of clothing, touch?
9.How is your appetite?
Do you have desire for special food? (Sweet, sour, salty, spicy?) Meat? Fish? Cheese?
Do you have aversion to special food?
Do you have aggravation from special food (Fruits, flatulent, fat food? Milk)?
How is your thirst? Alcohol? Coffee? Cold or warm drinks?
Are you hungry at special times of the day?
How is the bowel motion?
10. These questions can be related to the general condition but also to every complaint you have.
With every complaint there must be paid attention to following questions:
What circumstance can cause this complaint? (Anger, grief, cold weather, draft, exertion, sweating, etc.)
Where in the body is the exact localisation of your symptoms?
What circumstances can aggravate and ameliorate this symptom? The answers to that question are the most important to find the right remedy.
The exact sensation that is felt in the complaint (burning, drawing, stitching, etc.).
The exact description of the complaint (diarrhoea is watery, bloody, cough is dry, or expectoration is lumpy and yellow).
Are there any concomitant symptoms that accompany a special symptom? (In back pain there is also felt nausea for example)
11. Do you smoke?
12.How is the healing if you have a wound?
Do you have prolonged bleeding?
Tendency to have a collapse?
13.In woman: How is the bleeding during the period? Are there any changes during the time of the period?
Sexual problems?
14. Very important is the change in the mood during the disease.
Very often the cause of a disease can be found in stress of psychic origin.
What was the most severe grief in your life?
Can you weep?
How do you react to consolation?
What can make you angry?
Are you jealous?
Are there any anxieties in your life?
Have you been anxious as a child? Can you describe your character as a child?
Have you special fears: Heights? Robbers? Death? Dogs or other animals?
How do you react to other people? Do you like company or you prefer to be alone?
If you have grief do you want to speak with someone about or you prefer to solve the problem alone?
How do you react to crowds, to small rooms, elevators?
Can you wait? Are you impatient? Hasty? Always in a hurry?
Did you have grief, anger, disappointment in your life?
Is order in your life important?
How do you react to contradiction?
How do you react if you hear from other people if they are suffering?
How do you react to bad news in TV, to horror movies?
How is your situation at your working place? Your family?
How is your sleeping? Recurring dreams?
Is your sleep disturbed? In what position do you sleep?
15. It is very important to consider the psychic situation. Homoeopathy is a very holistic system of treating people and it is very successful because the whole person is included in the therapy, not only the physical complaints of the patient.
16. Did you suffer from other diseases before? Operations?
17. Accidents?
18. In children: How was the situation of the mother during pregnancy? How was the childbirth? Have there been problems during the first period of life?
How was the development of the child?
How did you react to vaccinations?
19. Are there diseases in the history of the family, the ancestors: Canc.., tuberculosis, heart problems, allergies, etc.?
Finally you can go through the body from above downwards, to make sure that you haven't forgotten anything important:
Head - Eyes - Ears - Nose - Mouth - Lips - Tongue - Throat - Glands - Chest - Heart - Lungs - Stomach - Liver - Abdomen - Bowel motion - Kidney - Bladder - Genitals - Back - Joints - Skin - Nails.

Pixie, fill out the form best you can and then
stick with the treatment, hopefully your son
can get boosted up to a level where none of this
is going on anymore.

Hi Parakletos
Drosera is a truly amazing remedy for my Son.
It was one dose of 30c and it has cured him again. i am guessing this won't always be the case and we may need to up the strength but he is not good with higher potency,
I will fill the form out as soon as possible but will be in a couple of days as it will take me a long time.
Thank you

1. What complaints do you have? Describe your complaints in your own words:
Croup with a cold, has only happened once this yr in January but During last winter he would also get asthma with a cold.
When he didn't have a cold he would have a constant barking cough and get colds every three weeks
2.What Medicine do you take now?
No Medicines at present
At what time of the day are you the worst? Morning? Evening? Night?
After waking? After sleeping? Etc.
Night time for croup
3.How do you react to the weather? Cold-warm-humid-dry-foggy-windy?
How do you react to draft? Exposure to Sun? Snowing? Change of Weather?
How do you react to warmth? Warm rooms? Sun? Warm bathing? Warmth of bed?
How to you react to cold? Uncovering? Cold Water? Cold food and drinks?
Change of weather and the winter suffer alot.
This summer he has been at his best (not sure if this was the dros working or changes we have made at home regarding the lodger not allowed to smoke anywhere even close to the house and dut kept to minimal
4.Do you catch a cold easily? Cold feet? Cold parts of the body?
PLEASE NOTE at present i can only go by the previous 2 winters as this years hasn't begun yet but yes caught colds very easily. every 3 weeks
5.How is your desire for open air?
He prefers to be outside and when he has croup the cold air does help
6.Do you sweat? In general or on special parts?
Sweat during sleep?
Suppressed foot sweat?
7.How is your desire for motion? How do you feel during sitting? Standing? Lying (left, right, back, abdomen?)

Do you have aggravation from special food (Fruits, flatulent, fat food? Milk)?
How is your thirst? Alcohol? Coffee? Cold or warm drinks?
Are you hungry at special times of the day?
How is the bowel motion?
Appetite is much worse than normal lately (used to have an amazing appetite) now he doesn't care for lunch and is a nightmare at teatime but does eventually eat it,
doesn't have much thirst? again can go all day having one drink but does tend to get thirsty in the evening and sometimes wakes in the night wanting a drink.
he does like meat and mackeral and tuna but would not say he craves it,
Eggs have always been a complete aversion but latley he will eat a little egg and mayo sandwhich and will take a bite out of the egg and sometimes eats it but won't have anymore and othertimes he spits it out and throws the egg saying very yukky.
He also does not usually care for cakes but has been eating them lately and if there is icing sometimes he will just eat that.
Bowel motion. pretty regular, usually guaranteed to go first thing in the morning and again later in the day,
Never been constipated usually on the softer side rather than firm.
He does not have cows milk because his Dad has a very severe reaction as a child and was bandaged head to toe with eczema, i did notice slight eczema on his face when he was having dairy but nothing major. i limit wheat also as i do not like this food and nutritionist said this causes alot of asthma,
Since limiting he has not had asthma but this could judt be coincidence because of it being summertime.

How is your situation at your working place? Your family?
How is your sleeping?
sleeps well
Recurring dreams?
Is your sleep disturbed? In what position do you sleep?
When he has a fever he is usually very sleepy.
I see a section about my pregnancy which i think is very important
As for anxieties i do not notice any
Ok this is important, my pregancy was horrific in the way of my depression, fear, panic attacks and anxiety.
I really do not want to go into it all but briefly i hadn't long met my husband and i found out of some goings on with his ex and my whole world felt like it had ended. i was very very bad i had constant fear of losing him and everytime i tried to love him the fear was unbearable and would send me into panicattacks, i couldn't bare to be without him and was scared of getting close.
This truly was the worse time of my life and unfortunatly was pregnant.
Also i am HPA 1A- basically i have a rare platlet in my blood. it does not affect me ever but when pregnant i create antibodies which destroy babies platlets and can cause heomorraging.
I had to go on an IV drip for 6 hours weekly with the treatment of something called flebogamma. ( i do not like what i read up on this)
I had no choice to go on it. it was a risk i had to take
Anyhow he was still born ith dangerously low platlets but all was fine after a platlet transfusion..
Birth was very quick it started on it's own 2.5 weeks early but once at hospital they put me on a drip to speed it up a little s needed him born in daylight hours whilst all specialists we're at hand,
1hour and 20mins and he was born
19. Are there diseases in the history of the family, the ancestors: Canc.., tuberculosis, heart problems, allergies, etc.?
Husband very bad eczema as child but lessoned now. he has severe reaction to brazil nuts and some shellfish
He also had ashma as a child but it has gone now.
I have underactive thyroid
Finally you can go through the body from above downwards, to make sure that you haven't forgotten anything important:
Head - Eyes - Ears - Nose - Mouth - Lips - Tongue - Throat - Glands - Chest - Heart - Lungs - Stomach - Liver - Abdomen - Bowel motion - Kidney - Bladder - Genitals - Back - Joints - Skin - Nails
I want to say he is very much a Daddys boy and more often or not Dad has to do everything for him.
When people talk about him they say he is more like the older brother not the younger one and that he is sometimes like an old man and will cuddle his brother if his brother is upset and will get his coat and try to help him get it on.
He can be very independant and likes to do most things himself but has recently got lazy with walking. he will walk so far and ask to ba carried, he never used to.
He can be a little bossy and a little strong willed but nothing i can't handle.
Loves motorbikes and dressing up pretending to ride one all the time. can be quite cuddly especially with Dad.
he has blue eyes fair hair and is certainly on the smaller side, he is a little underweight but nothing to be concerned about although he is not eating or drinking much these days but still has energy and is playful.
He does have a funny shaped chest the Dr spotted this and called it something and it was to do with the amount of coughing he had done,#
Also when he was 6 months he had chicken pox and just before spots came out he had his forst bout of croup and then no croup for another year. he was exactly one year when the asthma started too.
Please let me know if i hhave not given enough detail or missed something and i will respond asap
I also think you should know his previous classical homeopath of 2 years was always coming up with Drosera to be his remedy for acute. it never seemed to work but then i contacted David on the forum and he was adamant he needed drosera also (for whooping cough) he got alot worse after taking it QUITE alot worse and old homeopath would of uauslly switched remedy by now but David said i must sit and wait and sure enough it was a magical cure and again last week it worked the same. it bought on the fever and mild croup and thn done it's magic.
He still has a slight running nose,
Also my child is very very sensitive to anyhting in 200c and responds extremely well to 30c i have to take him to hospital before from an aggravtion to 200c. i do not like giving 200c's i have seen to many severe aggravation please understand this. this is not me worrying about the higher dose in general as my 6 year old is always fine with 200c
Another remedy that used to help really well but not for long was tub he had several 30cs and either one or 2 200cs but it would only help for very short time and i was told to stop it.
Also remember nux vom may of helped another time
Dros seems the magic one at present
thank you for you time
Croup with a cold, has only happened once this yr in January but During last winter he would also get asthma with a cold.
When ill always heads to chest and very often gets croup, its never a simple cold like it would be for some other person.
He is much worse at night with the croup and if he has a cough also usually worse at night.
Not The croup cough but other general cough he was getting alot last yr would always have a barking dry noise (not happened yet this yr but you can hear it very slightly sometimes when he's crying)
11. Do you smoke?
12.How is the healing if you have a wound?
Do you have prolonged bleeding?
Tendency to have a collapse?
Not that noticed
13.In woman: How is the bleeding during the period? Are there any changes during the time of the period?
Sexual problems?
14. Very important is the change in the mood during the disease.
Very often the cause of a disease can be found in stress of psychic origin.
What was the most severe grief in your life?
i think for him this was when i was pregant, i will state this further down.
Can you weep?
yes
How do you react to consolation?
he likes being consoled
What can make you angry?
if he does not get his own way sometimes
Are you jealous?
Are there any anxieties in your life?
Have you been anxious as a child? Can you describe your character as a child?
Have you special fears: Heights? Robbers? Death? Dogs or other animals?
doesn't seem afraid of things
How do you react to other people? Do you like company or you prefer to be alone?
If you have grief do you want to speak with someone about or you prefer to solve the problem alone?
How do you react to crowds, to small rooms, elevators?
Can you wait? Are you impatient? Hasty? Always in a hurry?
Did you have grief, anger, disappointment in your life?
Is order in your life important?
How do you react to contradiction?
How do you react if you hear from other people if they are suffering?
How do you react to bad news in TV, to horror movies?
How is your situation at your working place? Your family?
How is your sleeping?
sleeps well
Recurring dreams?
Is your sleep disturbed? In what position do you sleep?
When he has a fever he is usually very sleepy.

Hey.
Sorry for the late reply.
I have read and studied your answers, and what strikes me is that here we are talking about a lot of hereditary disorders. From both sides. It may be that the grandparents or great-grandparents, have had a serious illness, for example tuberkelose, Spanish flu etc. Such diseases tend to be passed on in the genes.
A medicine that may be relevant is TUBERCULINUM BOVINUM.

Here are some examples of symptoms related to this medication:
Many different allergies, to cat fur, dairy products, etc.
Repeated chest colds, bronchitis, pneumonia.
Acute respiratory Infections in cases with family history of tuberculosis.
Aggrevated: cold damp weather, from getting wet or cold bathing. Evening, sea
Ameliorated.: Feels better in warm and dry weather, open air, driving with window open.
A question about your husband. Is he a person who likes change, travel, change jobs, etc.?
Generally WORSE BEFORE STORM or any change in weather.
Before I go any further, it would be nice if you could say a little bit about what I've written?
Thank you.

Hi Dr
I have read through your post and i vaguely remember our previous homeopath saying something similar about something in the genes being passed down from many years ago.
I will need to ask the family if they know any history of the illness mentioned.
He treated my son with several doses of tuberulinum but this failed. it did help acutes but nothing long lasting and nothing has ever worked as good as drosera.
He has had several TUB 30c and twice 200C which is too strong and yes they helped acutes but very very short lived and homeopath said this was not correct remedy,
As for husband liking change. he is inbetween as he really does not like starting new jobs, he is a carpenter so does start alot of different jobs all the time.
He doesn't mind travelling.
I know you did not ask about me but i do not like change one bit i don't like to be far from home or going abroad. i am out of my comfort zone.
Do not know about worse before storm but certainly the colder damper weather.
I will say my other elder son has a different Dad and he also started having lots og coughs and also a couple of bouts of asthma last year he is six years old and this started when he was 4 when we moved to my husbands house and after his brother was born.
There is not history of asthma or allergies on his or my side.... maybe in previous generations that i do not know about though.
Thanks for your time
Pixie Wood
I remembered something. My sister had bad croup as a child and her daughter has very bad croup which seems to be growing out of now but she would end up in hospital everytime.
My grandad had asthma all his life but my mother or father had none of this.

What you mention about your sister and her children, which it is for most children. They grow out of it.
I have three sons and all have had croup. One of them more seriously than those two others, but they all grew out of it. Think it has something to do with the fact that the throat is too narrow, at least what I was told by our pediatrician.
I think you should continue with your emergency medicine, Drosera. If it stops working, you can use a higher potence, 200C. Works even better if you take the medicine in water. Half glass of water with 3-4 pills.( Or 10 Granuls) When the drug is dissolved, you can give one teaspoon every 5-10 Minute. As it gets better every half hour, and then every hour. Stop the medication when he feels relatively well.
As regards Tuberculinum, it must always be given in high potence, 1 M and higher. 30C and 200C will only touch the surface. But do not use it now, stick to Drosera.
Should it get worse or appear, new stuff, just contact me. Best of luck.

Hi Dr thanks for your reply.
Are you thinking that Drosera may help long term??
I know Tub cannot be repeated often and he did have the doses quite close and on the 200c he aggravated so so much the homeopath had to interfere so i would be very worried about 1M i would never give this without you advising so do not worry about that.
So to be more clear even though one dose of drosera 30c helped i can still give it every 5 - 10 minutes?? will it cause more aggravation.
The last time from the one dose it took 24 hours for the aggravation to stop and he started getting better.
I will say he is still having running nose in the morming and when running around he will cough a little.
I will order the 200c for the future as i do understand the 30c will not work forever but what about shaking the water with the 30c in it does this strengthen it?
I will ask before doing anything though and will stick to 30c until you advise otherwise.
Thank you
