frequent urination +
Hello. I write about my 29 yr old son who complains of frequent urination and bladder pressure. He does not have any other symptoms of urinary difficulty. He sometimes says that when he urinates there is only a little urine but he never has difficulty urinating. He usually gets up in the night around 6 a.m. to urinate but otherwise sleeps well. He urinates throughout the day and when he is traveling in the car, may have to stop every 30 min. to go to the bathroom. Somedays it seems worse than others. He also complains of feeling dryness in his throat and he drinks very much water -- approximately gallons/day because he is always so thirsty. He likes to eat carbs especially and soft creamy foods like yogurt. He does not like hard crunchy foods like pretzels. He has dandruff and some hair loss /thinning in the front of his scalp especially. He is 5'11', slender, with dark hair, though he has a pot belly now which may be from the medication he takes --Risperdol -- for psychosis. He has paranoia and negative thinking -- this illness initially surfaced in high school as fatigue and dryness of his eyes and skin, tho' the paranoia started while he was in college. He dropped out of college though was able to complete his studies while living at home. He was always a good student. He feels especially paranoid about people from other countries, like India, though he traveled in India when he was 24 as he was hoping to find a yogi who might cure him. There is a family history of mental illness in both my and his father's families. He feels that people feel uncomfortable around him, though that's not really the case. He stays at home a lot and doesn't work. He is very functional in all ways and speaks articulately about a lot of subjects. He is interested in spirituality and says a mantra to try to help control his thinking negative words which frighten him. He sometimes paces. He has some nervous habits --rubs together the fingers of his left hand, recently has started swaying from side to side when standing while talking. He does not exercise. He fatigues easily from both mental and physical effort. I appreciate help with this post. My son himself is really only looking for help with the urination and hair loss as he is fearful generally of taking things. That said, for years he worked with naturopaths and was on a gluten free diet for about 6 years; neither of these helped him with the mental problems he has been living with. One other note is that he tends to have tight muscles (my physical therapist friend worked on him once for some pain in his rt hip while walking).robertarl on 2013-06-08

The frequent urination is one of the side effects of the drug
he is taking, so is probably the swaying bc it affects balance.
I would suggest that you work with a homeopath who
has cured similar mental disorders and he can slowly
reduce the medication as he gets better. It is very
difficult to take these drugs to help with these conditions,
bc they all have side effects and once you have medication
that helps switching over to other meds can be like
jumping from the frying pan into the fire.
If you want some help with a list of homeopaths that may
be able to work well with this, I can look up some for you,
however it would be good to know where you are to see
if any of them are near you so you could go in person other
than doing online treatment.

Thanks so much for your response. Unfortunately, my son's not willing to consult as we do know someone nearby who specifically focuses on use of homeopathy and mental illness. I also thought that the urination is medication related tho' he says that he didn't think so. The swaying, tho', isn't balance-related...just another nervous habit. At any rate, thanks so much for responding to my inquiry!

The urination issue is listed as a side effect if
you google the drug. I understand this issue bc
I did caretaking for 2 people who had this problem
and dealt with all their medication issues and
paranoid issues. I know how hard this is.
I was going to check with another homeopath about
whether your son could use something like a weekly
dose of something to antidote the side effect. If
I find out you can I will post on here.

Thank you so much for your note and for even thinking to look abit further for us. Yes...i had found that as a side effect..as well as the excessive thirst ...among all the other side effects. My son once had a reaction to a homeopathic that wasn't comfortable for him -- ie,something that was underlying came out -- and that frightened him from wanting to use homeopathics again. Understandable. He's caught between a rock and a hard place.

No problem. Actually people should be prepared for things
on the mental level and have someone with them who understands,
especially when sensitive . I have seen people get Ignatia
for grief, trauma and then be releasing thoughts and feelings
for 3 days ( they need reassurance that it is coming out and
going for good) and I have seen people get too much nat mur
and be vaulted into outer space and need to get that
antidoted asap and not go near a remedy again for a year,
bc it traumatized them.
That is why on mental issues, many times the homeopathy works
well with a therapist also ( who understands what the homeopathy
is doing) bc layers can be releasing. One homeopath who understands this very well is Dr. Judyth Ullman. She is a naturopath, famous homeopath, and was a Pyschiatric counselor
before these two things. She has a focus on mental issues and ( she is in Seattle - does skype and phone)
she would set up the framework for your son to feel safe, bc
it needs often a back and forth monitoring and has to be done
safely.Dr. Ullman and her husband teach worldwide and they
have a recent book out on homeopathy and mental illness.
Anyway, I will check on what can be done if anything, to offset
what he is taking.

I'm familiar with Dr. Ullman's name. I wish my son were willing to consult with the homeopath in town who is also a pscyhologist but he really is extremely worried about having adverse effects.
Thanks again, Simone for your responses...and for understanding the challenges on so many levels.

Hi, I got a suggestion on the urination only issue from my friend,
Dr. Showrav, who has a homeopathy clinic in Bangladesh. He has
solved quite a few of these type of cases and he is also getting
another degree in homeopathic medicine development and
understands the chemical body interactions very well.
He advised that you can try this for 3 days. If in three days nothing
happens then it won't work. This is not for anything mental , it is
for antidoting drugs in the body, bc clearly to me, your son
has a buildup of the medicine in him.
Do not eat or drink for half hour before or after this.
Try Aconitum Napellus 30c at night one dose before bed or a 200c.
I would myself order the 200c.
Try Sulphur 200c one dose before breakfast.
A dose is 2 pellets in two tablespoons of water dissolved. Do this for
3 days in a row and see if it has an effect on the frequent urination.
Good luck to all of you.
