bird flu - historic homeopathic solutions by symptoms???

I would like to open up this thread to any homeopath who can explain in simple terms the specific flu symptoms that each of the leading historically proven remedies contain.

From my research into the 1918 Flu Pandemic, it seems that three homeopathic remedies were used the most with great effeciveness. They are:

Gelsenium was noted as being used the MOST during the epidemic. It seems from some of the historic texts I read, many of the docs just gave it out to patients without worrying about reportizing too much (at least that's the sense I got from the articles.)

Since HISTORY has shown these remedies to be effective, I would love anyone to give us clear-cut remedy pictures of Gelsenium, Bryonia and Aconite that would CLEARLY help us novices determine how to administer the proper remedy that matches the SYMPTOMS.

By the way, if there are ANY other important remedies that anyone thinks we should have on hand for the possible BIrd Flu, please note them.

Thank you very much.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I realize I forgot to add one remedy to the list. Upon reviewing an article by Julian Winston, he references that Eupatorium was regularly followed by Gelsenium to complete the cure.

Quote from nurse during 1918 pandemic:
"We would send them home with a bottle of Gelsenium and a bottle of Eupatorium...tell them to stay in bed and in five days they would be well."

Curious to know the pattern of how these two remedies would be used.

Also, the nurse believed they were both used in 6X potency!

I agree and am curious to know what the dosage of these two recommended remedies would be. It might something we all should have on hand. Gogetter

Gelsemium and Eupatorium perfolatum, these two remedies are specific for well established flu, euatorium perfolatum is the true picture of flu. These two medicines can be used in alternation. There is a difference between these two.Eupatorium has severe bones pain, with sneezing and coryza and aching in every bone, while in gelsemium watery excoriating discharge, coryza and dull headache and fever, the fever is not high it is round about 100f and the patient is lethargic, heat and drowziness with trembling and with absence of thirst, chill is so severe that he want some one to hold him while in eupatorium perfolatum these symptoms are not so severe.Avoid using allium cepa in coryza the cold will go to lungs. The best potency of these two medicines is 6c and if not available 30c is equally good.I hope the explanation is sufficent and if you feel more detail that can also be provided.

Thank you, Sajjad.

When is Allium Sepa recommended?

Jane525 last decade
Allium cepa is used for common coryza as gelsemium and eupatorium perf but it will transfer every problem to lungs and then you have to use phosphorous to correct the problem.

Thank You for the response Sajjad. I'm not sure was you mean when you refer to coryza. Also would aperson follow the directions on the bottle or would there be a different dosage? Thank Again-Gogetter

In acute apisode, the dose is 2-3 drops 0r 1 tablet to be repeated after every 2 hours. The drops must me added into a little water and if you want to save the medicine, just add 2-3 drops in half a cup of water, mix it well and from this give just a tea spoonful out of this as a dose, next day prepare a fresh exactly in the manner dascribed above.

So this may be a dumb question but...

If allium sepa is prone to push the illness into the lungs and phosphorus is the follow-up, then what is allium sepa good for as far as colds and flu go??

Sorry if this is an inane question but I'd like to know.

Yes allium cepa is no good for coryza, there are other remedies like gelsemium, eupatorium per, justicia adhatoda, that can be used in place of allium cepa.

If Avian Flu strikes Sri Lanka where I live, I shall use Oscillococcinum 200 in the Wet Dose once daily.

It is interesting to note that this is a remedy which is made from Goose Liver and I do believe that this may perhaps save mankind from a Pandemic. It has yet to be tested and I would recommend that tests are carried out in both Romania and in Turkey where this flu has infected the geese and chickens.

It has not so far affected humans and although we know that over 60 people have died in SE Asia and in Indonesia, I do not think that it has been passed from one human to another.

I do hope that my suggestion of using Oscillo 200 is tested in the two countries now affected and I hope that this message will be seen by health officials in this two countries.

It seems we have several opinions on what might work best for the Avian flu, or maybe the Eupatorium and Gelsium are for the more standard types of flu. Anyone else have an opinin? Gogetter

Sandra Perko has written a Special Bird Flu edition to her book The Homeopathic Treatment of Influenza you might find very helpful on the questions listed in this email stream. Since I can not post a web address to this comment, you can contact me via email for the URL. She has a specific way to help identify the individual symptoms and the corresponding remedies.
