The ABC Homeopathy Forum

10 month old diagnosed w Severe Reflux

Since birth Ariana's had reflux. She spits up constantly and other times swallows it before it is completely spit up in its entirety.

In the past month I've seen four specialist amongst the numerous trips to the pediatrician to try an figure out why she doesn't nap or wakes about between 2-4am and cannot fall back to sleep. She doesn't cry to be picked up she just tries for 1-2 hrs to fall back but cannot. I see a Gastro Pediatrician for her reflux but she assumed that since shes not crying and giving her Pepcid before, did not help her to sleep better, then her sleep issues were not related to reflux.

However, i had an endoscopy done, thinking maybe it was enlarged adenoids keeping awake. Although they are not, he noted she has severe reflux and her throat is red and inflamed.

The prevacid they are prescribing eliminates all acid. I was thinking to go the homeopathic route. Can someone recommend a regiment. I have tried the easy stuff, such as angling the crib, burping her small feedings, keeping her upright. Her case is severe.

She is 10 months 21lbs, 30.5 inches. Shes walking already so shes upright. She is very gassy and hiccupy. Constantly passing gas. She is always constipated so i feed her flaxseed meal daily and prunes. With that she'll go once possibly twice daily. I feed her small meals every 3 hrs, but even that she spits up. I make my own food, usually chicken mixed w mangos and another vegetable. She wakes up in the middle of the night between 2-4am usually. However, sometimes she'll wake twice at 11-1am and then another awakening at 3-5am.

And possibly if someone could recommend something to soothe her esophagus.

Please help me, help her. I feel horrible.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I shall copy my default therapy for Baby GERD which I hope will help your baby too.

The remedy that has proved to be very effective for Baby GERD is:

Nat Phos 6x dose 1 tablet dissolved in milk given immediately after a feed. You will not exceed 6 tablets in 24 hours.

It is essential that you burp baby immediately after each feed.

You will avoid eating all food that can cause any distress to baby. You must know that they are passed on to baby through your breast milk.

You will also take Arnica 30c which you will order in the Liquid Dilution as per instructions below. Please note that the Arnica is NOT for baby.
You (the mother) will take Nat Phos 6x dose 2 tablets after each of 3 meals daily and Arnica 30c in the Wet dose taken twice daily. The idea is that your milk will pass the effect to baby. You may like to know that Nat Phos 6x will help to reduce your weight by 1kg per week very safely.
Report progress in 24 hours and as often as you wish on this thread .

The Wet dose of any Homeopathic remedy is made as follows:

Order the remedy in the Liquid pack in Alcohol, also referred to as Liquid Dilution in a bottle preferably with a dropper arrangement.
Get a 500ml bottle of Spring Water from the nearest supermarket.
Pour out about 3cm of water from the bottle to leave some airspace.
Insert 3 drops of the remedy into the bottle and shake the bottle hard at least 6 times before you sip a capfull of the bottle or a large teaspoonful which is the dose.
Shaking the bottle hard is homeopathic succussion and this enhances the effect of the remedy on the user.

Joe I'm not breastfeeding anymore is the treatment still the same? Is there anything you can recommend to heal her throat? And i read Lycopodium 30 or Kali Carb 30 was good for night pain/indigestion associated with the awakenings. Do you agree?

ArianasMom last decade
Joe i was wondering if there's anything else you can recommend because her reflux remains the same. Sometimes shes just standing still and she gets spitups.

Hi, First try eliminating mangos and prunes.

Prunes are incredibly gassy, and mangos are
very acidic. see this linkhttp://www.livestrong.com/article/504818-mangoes-heartburn/ ....

You can get baby probiotics at Whole Foods to help with digestion.

I don't know if Joe is answering you or not, but if nat phos is not
working, try another remedy.

I would try Nux vomica 30c, give 3pills in a couple tablespoons of water.
Do one dose and wait and watch for around 5 to 6 hours, If you
notice improvement then stop and let it work. If there is backsliding
to what it was before then give another dose. You can try this
3x and if nothing happens it is wrong.

Nux has constipation, waking up at 3 am with pains, very irritated
and impatient, tense muscles, arching of back, better from warmth
and warm drinks and after bowel movement.

I would try that one first and eliminate the two foods and see
what happens.

Is your daughter teething now. Signs are drooling, likes pressure on gums etc.

How is she thermally, normally cold or hot.

How is she mentally (irritable, happy etc.)

Without this info, its unlikely that any of the above listed remedies will work.

fitness last decade
Fitness, I should have written try Nux first if these
symptoms apply- which I listed.

Of course if child is teething that should be added in
to the picture, but the child has had this since birth, way
before teething.

Fitness and Simone:

She is definitely not teething. So we can rule that out.

She wakes approximately 3-4am and does not cry. Does not appear to be in pain. HOWEVER, she does have a high threshold for pain. And i must add that for 7-8 months I've been searching for a cause for why she does not nap or sleeps very poorly. None of the drs could pin point it because she was not showing any signs of pain. But when i saw the ENT and he did an endoscopy of her throat he saw severe burns. By that time, the gastroenterologist had taken her off all medicine because she said she did not appear to be in any sort of pain. Therefore her 3-4am waking i cannot say for certain if she is in pain. But this is what she does; she wakes up and then tosses and turns while sucking her finger in an attempt to fall back asleep but cannot. After an hour or two i intervene and put her back to sleep.

She seems for the most part an even thermal baby but she does like her room cool. 68 degrees generally. If not, i have noticed she can sweat.

She seems somewhat cranky usually because she is tired.

I will buy the Nuk this week and eliminate prunes and mangos. Any ideas for supplemental fruit since i make her solid purees?

Hi, here is a list of fruits and vegetableshttp://www.livestrong.com/article/336993-list-of-non-acidic-...

simone717 last decade
Due to what the ENT said, and the fact that this has gone
on for so long- with severe 'burns' I would contact
a very experienced homeopath for this. Bc while the nux
may help some things here- like acid not coming up-

I think she needs another remedy for the Burns. I would
like to see her get a course of treatment and then you go
back to the ENT and see what the esophagus looks like
after the remedies.

I suggest using mary aspinwall in Santa barbara, or Lia
Bello in New mexico. Both have well over 20 years experience
are teachers of homeopathy and if It was my child I would
want supervision from someone like this. Normally reflux
is considered an acute ailment and they will work with you
on the phone for $50 on this. I think due to the burns
that it is important that you have this caliber of person
treat your child,

I have already prescribed for this baby on 10/27 and the mother has not confirmed if she is giving Nat Phos 6x as prescribed. She has also not confirmed that she is giving Nux Vomica 30c in the Wet dose (NOT PELLETS) twice daily. Refer to my post above for instructions to make the Wet dose.

STOP prunes and mangos and report in 48 hours.

Joe i am giving the Nat Phos 6x as prescribed however it is not helping. The Nux Vomica i ordered but hasnt arrived yet.

ArianasMom last decade
Please give your daughter two doses of Cal-P 30c, 12 hrs apart.

The right remedy shows results in 10-12 hrs.

One dose is made by dissolving one pill of the remedy in half a glass of cooled, boiled water. Stir it and give one tea spoon from it.

No dietary restrictions.

fitness last decade
Fitness, will i still give Vomica? And if so i dont have the correct wet dosage. Can you please give me the dosage for the liquid version of the nux vomica? You dont know how thankful I am for your help. Thank you

ArianasMom last decade
No, you should not give Nux-Vomica.

You should give two doses of Cal-Phos 30c as described above.

Liquid Dose:
One dose is made by dissolving one drop of the liquid remedy in half a glass of cooled, boiled water. Stir it and give one tea spoon from it.

Arianas,

You are confused now bc of too many people posting.

It is rare that any two homeopaths will prescribe the same
thing. You have to choose who to follow. It seems
you have been talking to Joe perhaps on his site which
is why you got directions for the wet dose of Nux vomica,
that is not on this thread.

I thought you were not getting answers from Joe, which
is why I posted. Joe has been on the forum for years and
he uses homeopathy medicines in a somewhat different
way. Of course you can read about Joe on his own site.
Fitness is not a homeopath, he is an engineer, I am not
a homeopath, I am a student and a Mom, and Joe is not
a homeopath either.

You can only follow one person or prescription at a time.
I think your case is more complicated which Is why I
suggested talking to people who have many years of
a real practice.

simone717 last decade
Simone, correction! I am an engineer AND a self-taught homeopath.

My choice of remedies can withstand any scrutiny as its based on sound homeopathic principles. That's how & why I am able to challenge so many prescriptions on this forum.

My profile clearly says that I practice only true classical homeopathy. Not the hodge podge I usually see on this and several other forums.

What Joe is doing is not homeopathy. He is using homeopathic remedies but not as per homeopathic principles.

fitness last decade
Fitness is it simply Cal-P 30c or is it short for something because i can not find it?

ArianasMom last decade
Its Calcarea Phosporica 30c.

fitness last decade
Yes, I know you are self taught, and so is Joe, and so
am I with home courses. Joe has been on the forum
since the start, and he has always stated he does
not believe in classical homeopathy.

This is not a 'classical homeopathy forum' in case
you have not noticed. It is for any type prescribing,
and any type of anything to do with homeopathy,
and anything that may help that has nothing to do
with homeopathy. The moderator set it up that way
and he allows all kinds of prescribing to go on.

The moderator has an open mind on all of this.

simone717 last decade
I am self taught in classical homeopathy, I can withstand the scrutiny of any homeopath as I have the basis to prove my single remedy selection.

I post on this forum to prove that homeopathy always works when used as per its principles.

Again, I invite you and everyone who posts here to critique my prescriptions based on the principles of classical homeopathy and let me know where I am doing wrong.

This gives everyone an opportunity to learn the true single remedy approach which is the essence of homeopathy!

I stand for classical homeopathy and thankfully the moderator has no objections to this either:)
