9 week old reflux issue
Hello,My 9 week old was diagnosed with possible reflux about a week ago. We have been having extreme sleepless nights because of his gas and digestion and his need to breastfeed regularly. He seems to breastfeed ok but i noticed that i have a very fast flow and so he struggles with swallowing the milk during a let down. Another worry is his green watery stools. I have cut out dairy for just over week but have not noticed a significant change. On doing some preliminary research I noticed that Nat Phos 6X seemed to be the remedy of choice for reflux complaints. So i tried one pill last night after a feed. Almost instantly he reacted strongly - screaming, crying arching his back unable to lay down in his bed. It was like a magnified version of his complaints. i have since administered half a nat phos pill and he still is reacting and seems very unhappy. I have decided to stop with the nat phos 6x. please has any one got a remedy that they feel will better suit my son? I really don't want to go down the conventional drug route.
Thank you.

1. 10weeks old. He measures around 19 ' he weighed 10lb one week ago. ( I don't have any scales to weigh him)
2. Physical appearance: Thin - medium
3.how is the child mentally and emotionally normally: He is alert and aware. His eyes are always following light even at night, which keeps him entertained. When content he is very smiley and interactive. He seems to love having his diaper changed.. That is when he is most happy?! And he is happy to be on his own. He is generally a sensitive but happy little guy.
4. How is the child mentally and emotionally during gerd? Extremely fussy crying to tears likes to be picked up but can still keep crying. Will find it hard to stay asleep in bed even after being burped and held upright after feed for 20mins. Sleepless day and night.
5. What are the symptoms of reflux gerd? Feeding every hour. Hyperactive arms and legs flailing to express discomfort in the lower stomach. eyes darting. Not sleeping - extremely hard to get him to sleep In bed he writhes and struggles as soon as we lay him down. He will wake up every 45 mins- 2hours at night. Can take him 3 hours max to get back to sleep. Avoids napping in the day. Coughing excessive gas and burping. Also makes swallowing choking noises when laying down.
6. How is the child's stool: very green and stringy. It has a strong smell too. Even after cutting out dairy. Since I have been taking nat phos 6x (last 3 days) it has returned to a yellow color. But he seems to be having more stomach pains.
7. Does the child have gas if yes a lot or less: yes a lot especially when he wakes up or we lay him down.
8.how is the child's desire to feed: Almost constant! He feeds on demand and can feed within 45mins to an hour of his last feed. It's the only thing that comforts him
9. Is the child teething? No he has bubbles and dribble and puts his hand in his mouth but he has no teeth coming through.
10. How is the child's sweat:
Any smelly: yes his hands can really smell but again since I took the nat phos they haven't smelt as bad.
Where: he can sweat on his head during feeding or when he is crying. It. Can be a moderate amount especially when he gets worked up.
Overall I am most concerned with his inability to sleep. Which has got worse since taking the nat phos. It seems to be lower bowel pain that aggrieves him now and exhaustion. He has never been a big sleeper but I'm hoping to find something that can calm him down.

Your remedy is: Calcarea Phosphorica 30c.
HOW TO TAKE THE REMEDY:
Please take two doses 12 hrs apart. Just two doses. Not daily.
Report back in 2 days with changes observed.
WHAT IS A DOSE FOR CHILDREN:
One dose is made by dissolving one pill of the remedy (or one drop, if you have liquid remedy) in half a glass of cooled, boiled water. Stir it and take one tea spoon from it.
TIME OF DOSE:
First dose: At night before sleeping.
Second dose: 12 hrs after the first dose.
Dont take any more dose or any other remedy unless I tell you.
PRECAUTIONS:
If there is worsening of symptoms (called homeopathic aggravation) after the first dose, then dont take the second dose.
Dont take any other homeopathic remedy during this treatment.
Give a break of at least 10 minutes before eating/drinking anything before or after taking the remedy.
During the treatment, dont eat anything which you have never had all your life.
HOMEOPATHIC AGGRAVATION
Sometimes the symptoms for which treatment is being done can worsen after taking the homeopathic remedy. This is homeopathic aggravation and a good sign. It usually dies down within 24-48 hrs. During this time you can use any non-medicinal means to keep yourself comfortable. If the aggravation seems excessive, you can use any & all means necessary (including taking allopathic medicines) to keep yourself comfortable. Keep your homeopath fully updated if this happens.
HOW TO GIVE FEEDBACK:
A good example of how to report your progress is by giving %age improvement for all your health problems e.g.
Headache: 30% better
Low energy level: 50% better
Anxiety: 40% better
Sadness: No change
Depression: Worse
And so on list all your complaints.
MOTHERS DIET
If your child is breastfed then what you eat will have a huge effect on your babys health. If you eat foods which cause gas (e.g. cabbage, beans, cauliflower etc) then your baby will have gas too. Cut back on the foods which cause gas in you or your husband (because your baby may have acquired the genetic tendency of your husband to have gas & bloatedness). Eating a few fennel seeds will address infrequent gas & bloatedness, eating it in excess will cause constipation.
THE NAT-PHOS MISINFORMATION
Homeopathy works on individualization i.e. the remedy for GERD which will work on one child may not work on another. There are several remedies for GERD. A particular person is promoting Nat-Phos as THE remedy for curing GERD by selectively quoting parents benefiting from his Nat-Phos protocol. This is not only incorrect but totally against the principles of individualization in homeopathy. I am sure desperate parents would do anything to get the cure but blindly going for Nat-Phos is not the route as many have found the hard way. Its a case of common sense & statistics. If you give Nat-Phos to 100 kids for GERD, some are bound to improve, it doesnt mean that its THE remedy for GERD. Next time someone touts Nat-Phos as the remedy for GERD ask him the statistics first.
GENERAL INFO ABOUT HOMEOPATHIC PRESCRIBING:
If someone is giving several remedies, without waiting to see the effect of one remedy, then it is totally against the core principles of homeopathy. Such an approach is unlikely to give permanent cure, rather it may distort actual symptoms making subsequent cure even more difficult.

Hi fitness,
we gave the dose of calc phos as prescribed and so far his symptoms seem worse?
He woke up last night sometimes every 1hr 30ins and at the worst every 45 mins.
since waking this morning he has been crying and screaming pretty much non stop unless feeding. he is having broken naps unless he sleeps on me.
he didn't pass a stool at all last night which is unusual and when he finally did this morning it took a lot of effort and was obviously painful for him.
I am unsure what to do now. I think he is extremely sensitive to homeopathic remedies. please give me your advice on how to proceed.
Thank you.

Worsening indicates aggravation, a good sign. It will wear off in 12-24 hrs. I'd suggest to just observe and not give any more remedy. Update me in 24 hrs.

Hi fitness,
Here is an update of my sons condition: yesterday after inconsolable crying he began to show signs of calming down. He followed his night routine and was asleep by 7pm he woke up 3 hours later which is usual. He had another good 2hr run of sleeping but by 2 am woke up after an hour and things got progressively worse he would not sleep after 4.20am He seemed to be very gassy and burped often. This morning he appeared in a much happier mood but overtired. Today went well but by 4pm this afternoon he got quite cranky and cried a lot. He went to bed at 7 and woke an hour later to burp. He then woke up an hour after that. This seems like a bad sign to us as he has consistently slept from 7-10pm. He also was being sick a lot more than usual.
Sweat: 80% better still has a slightly sweaty head when feeding
Stool: 90% better - seemed to poop quite a lot tho?
Night Sleep: 20% I was hoping to improve on what little sleep he had but it's gotten worse
Naps: 60% he takes a nap but not for longer than 40mins
Mood: daytime: 80% from 4pm 40%
Gas: 30% seems to wake up more to burp.
We still have the night ahead of us... But I wanted to let you know how things are progressing.. A bit back and forth..
Please advise.
Thank you.
