6 week old with reflux issues

Hello,
I'm looking for suggestions for our almost 6 week old baby girl who has had what I believe to be reflux issues since a few days after birth. She sleeps well at night (7-8 hours) but when she is awake she cries almost constantly. She is happy to nurse, but is usually uncomfortable within 10 minutes of a feed and sometimes immediately after. Her face gets red and she starts squirming and grunting. When she gets really worked up she will clench her fists, throw her head back and arch her back. She is frequently inconsolable and just can't seem to get comfortable no matter how much I change her position. In general she prefers her tummy to her back. Her tongue is usually coated in milk (I'm sure it's not yeast.) Sometimes she spits up after every feed and other times she'll got for a day without spitting up much at all. It's occasionally projectile. Her poop is yellow. She has had a red rash on her face for a few weeks now.

She has regular chiropractic adjustments which sometimes seem to help a bit and sometimes not. We're giving her an infant probiotic daily. I've been advised to cut cow's milk out of my diet to see if that helps and started that on Saturday.

As for homeopathics, I started giving her Nat Phos 6X on Saturday afternoon. I've been giving her 1 tablets after each feed. I thought the spitting up might have diminished a bit, but today she was projectile vomiting again and is still very cranky. Last night I also tried giving her Nux Vomica 30C wet dose, which also seemed to have no effect.

I guess I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong and/or what I should try next.

Thank you in advance for your help.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I note that you are using the therapy I have prescribed to many other mothers using Nat Phos 6x and Nux Vomica 30c in the Wet dose.

It is important that you give her the Biochemic Cell Salt of Nat Phos 6x as the Homeopathic version which is sold in pellets does not work. You can also get another stock and if you live in India you can ask for Dr Recheweg or Haslab which are recognised brands.

I would not recommend that you use a full tablet for your baby who is just 6 weeks old as it is best to use just half tablet dissolved in milk after every feed. You can also take 2 tablets yourself after every meal as the Nat Phos effect will be conveyed to baby in your breast milk. It will also help reduce your weight by up to 1kg per week.

The addition of Nux Vomica 30c will also boost the effect of the Nat Phos 6x but you may not exceed over 3 quarter teaspoons full or 2ml per day.

Please report progress as often as you wish as I will get the email alert and can monitor her progress.

Thank you so much for your response. When I posted the first time I had taken our daughter off the Nat Phos and Nux Vomica for a day because I hadn't seen any results after a day and a half. After reading your reply I started her on them again on Tuesday. I've been giving the doses mentioned for 3-4 days now and haven't seen any big changes in her behavior. Some days she seems a little better and goes for longer periods without crying, but most of the time she still seems uncomfortable and is cranky. I've also been taking the nat phos as you suggested. It is Nat Phos 6X and not the homeopathic version. I'm not sure what I should do next.

I am copying a post made by Dr Reva V prescribing for another baby which you can also give your baby.

My local health food store generally sells the homeopathic pellets. Can I make a liquid dilution of this myself and if so how?

The Wet dose that I use and promote exclusively is best made with the Liquid Dilution (LD) of any remedy. Reading your statement I believe that you have not fully understood the term Liquid Dilution which is always in Ethanol or Alcohol and is the purest form of the remedy available and is recommended to make the Wet dose. You will realise that we use just 3 drops of the LD in a bottle of water and pellets are not as effective to activate the water into the remedy.

You may use the pellets till you get the Liquid Dilution and when you do get it you will then make a new bottle and discard the one you made with the pellets.

You can use 10 pellets in a 500ml bottle of spring water.

Thank you again. You're right. I didn't fully understand what the wet dose was. When making the wet dose with the nux vomica I put 6 pellets into 500 ml of spring water. I guess this was wrong. Do you think it could have worked better if I had used the proper liquid dilution? I purchased the ignatia 30 pellets today and will give that to my daughter tonight and will administer until I can get the proper liquid dilution.

I've given the solution (with pellets) for two nights now and have seen no change.

I am beginning to wonder if your baby's problems stem from the Probiotic and the 'Chiropractic Adjustments' that you are subjecting her to.

'She has regular chiropractic adjustments which sometimes seem to help a bit and sometimes not. We're giving her an infant probiotic daily. I've been advised to cut cow's milk out of my diet to see if that helps and started that on Saturday. '

Can you indicated what precisely is done during this chiropractic adjustment session, and how many sessions have you subjected her to?

In any event please STOP this procedure.

Continue with the therapy prescribed, Nat Phos, Nux Vomica (Not more than 2 doses daily and Ignatia (2 doses daily) and report progress.

I would also suggest that you consult a paediatrician to diagnose the cause of her distress but do not give her any drugs which may be prescribed especially the PPI type like Nexium.
Do not also consent to any vaccinations till she is older.

You can also take Nat Phos 6x yourself dose 2 tablets after every meal thrice daily. This will ensure that the healing effect of the Nat Phos will be conveyed to baby in your breast milk.
