15 week old with silent refluxMy daughter is 15 weeks and has silent reflux which I suspect she's suffered since early on, possibly from birth. We had troubles nursing, was never diagnosed with tongue tie but I suspect upper lip tie. she failed to gain birth weight at 4 weeks so I started pumping and and bottle feeding, but had low milk supply and supplemented with donor breastmilk (that was dairy, soy, gluten free) but I suspected something was irritating her tummy with the donor milk. I am also dairy, gluten, soy and nightshade free.
She was extremely overfed when we started bottle feeding as our instruction was feed until full but unknowingly she was "never full" because sucking at the bottle was soothing to her reflux.
Once the donor milk ran out I started supplementing two bottles a day ( 6 oz total) of raw goat milk formula (around 12.5 weeks).
At around 13.5 weeks I started Nat Phos 6x, first just half tablet in second half of bottle a couple bottles a day, then every other, and then every bottle totaling between 5-6 tabs in 24 hours. This was over the course of 9 days and did not see much improvement. I noticed what I thought weee side effects of Nat Phos but unsure they could be from the goat milk change up. Withdrawn and unfocused play time, more twitching and back arching, extremely drowsy but restless. Bigger gulping of what was coming up.
Positive effects were less irritable night sleeps and feedings. Less overall time to put down for naps. Less spontaneous crying in awake, nap or sleep.
I also took her to the Chiro around 12.5 weeks and I thought it flared worse, maybe emotionally unready for it- or it could have been the new addition of goat milk.
Seems worse between 4-8PM and 2-6AM especially around 3-4AM
She will not close her eyes to sleep unless they are covered or has a blanket over her eyes or on the rare occasion I stroke my hand forehead to nose for 20+ minutes.
Does make a chirp sound when sleeping. Heavy sleep is purring/gargly.
Dry stuffed nose prone to whistling.
She is unable to connect sleep cycles so sleeps mostly 30 min naps unless I babysit and get her back to sleep.
She likes to be soothed with walking, swaying, singing, firm hold, empathetic moans/hum. Cannot be still, sitting or just in rocking chair.
She also has cradle cap and suffered eczema until about 7-8 weeks. Still has cradle cap and eczema spits will pop up with too much skin to skin (heat/sweat) contact.
Reflux worse 1.5-2 hours after feeding.
Chubby thighs, slender shoulders. She likes when I massage belly, legs, feet but has aversion to touching head, neck and shoulders.
Prolonged active labor (I have prolapse) naturAl pregnancy and bith birth no IV st all, only exception after birth I had localized numbing and she was at the breast.
Born with a bruise on the top her head.
She is struggling at the bottle but hungry
She has more of pink toned skin, strawberry light brown hair, light blue eyes.
Gorgeous chubby cheeks
She does not take a paci, most of the time she makes a gag noise with is, if at night she has a bad reflux episode she will let me hold it for her while she quickly vigorously sucks then let's it out.
A little over 14 lbs now and over 23 inches.
Prone to cold clammy hands and feet.
Loves a warm bath... relaxes her but massage attends to stimulate her and make her playful unless it's just her feet
We had tried nighttime gripe water for better sleep and it helped but had rebound effects on her during the day.
Right now currently at 24 hours no remedy but thinking I need to get her bAck on Nat Phos for now, unsure this is the best remedy for her. Desperate for something to relieve her. However we are not keen on starting any PPI's or prescription for her overall long term health and wellness. Is there a better remedy? Also a possible remedy for low milk supply, alcohol free?
