Speech delay/ screaming 3 year boy

Hello
I'm desperate for help. I have a 3 year old boy who mostly understands everything but does not speak full sentences he rather scream then try to put words together. He screams a lot ...he screams when he is hungry, he screams when he drops a toy, he screams when something doesn't go in the way he likes or wants, he screams when he can't get what he wants. he loves being outside and screams and has a fit when we bring him inside. He screams with so much force that he looks tired his eyes will turn red also. He was 5 weeks early baby always picky eater but has improved a little bit with his food. He loves salty foods doesn't eat any fruit or candy. The only sweet he will eat is some specified kind of cookies. He screams in his sleep asking for a toy or something and he will not sleep unless we give it to him he is in his sleep when he has these episodes. He loves to hold a toy in his hand all the time even to sleep or showers. He doesn't speak well screams again. I try to tell him this is how you ask for something not scream. I feel like maybe if he communicates clearly his screaming will go less. He doesn't even try to tell stories even in baby language. His doctor recommended he gets evaluated for speech therapy and he will be evaluated next month. I really get embarrassed when he screamed and not talks in public. I need help !

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I have had some success over the years with children and developmental disorders. Generally I find the observation of the child really helps, which won't happen on a forum like this.

However, I could try to make a suggestion for you if you can fill in a questionnaire for me. Not all the questions will be relevant to him but answer as many as you can.

Describe each physical complaint/associated set of symptoms in detail. Please include the following when doing this:

1. Appearance
2. Sensation or pain
3. Situations/events/triggers for making it worse
4. Situations/events/triggers for making it better
5. Event that seemed to start the complaint
6. Other sensory features – smell, sound, taste, tactile etc

Make sure each complaint is done separately. Do not group them together. This is for physical complaints/diseases.

MENTAL STATE OF THE CHILD (IMPORTANT)

1. When the physical complaint is active, what is his/her emotional state like? What does he/she do? What does she/he want you to do?

2. Does he/she describe any unusual sensation or pain in the body, especially when they are complaining of something?

3. What fears does he/she have? How does she/he react?

4. Was there any incident in the past that had a great impact? What happened at the time? Is there any ongoing reaction to this event? How does he/she talk about it?

5. Is there any story (book, fairytale, cartoon, movie etc) that seems to really resonate with her/him? What does he/she say about it?

6. What kind of fantasies does she/he describe to you? How does this translate down into play, games, toys? Does he/she tend to draw particular things over and over? If so what are they? If you point to these images, what does she/he say about them?

7. Does he/she describe any dreams or nightmares to you, and what are they? How does she/he react on waking from them?

8. How is he/she when interacting with other children? What about sports or games? How about obeying rules or social conventions?

9. How is she/he when interacting with older people? Is there any difference between family or friends and strangers in terms of reactions and behavior?

10. What kind of activities does he/she enjoy doing? Which of these do she/he spend the most time at?

11. What qualities seem to make your child different from other children?

12. How does your child cope with school, school work, study, deadlines, speaking in front of others, following directions etc?

13. What kind of questions does he/she tend to ask you or other adults?

14. What makes her/him laugh? What makes him/her cry?

15. What makes him/her angry or irritable?

16. What does your child do when alone?

17. Is there a particular person or type of person that he/she reacts to, and what kind of reaction?

GENERAL STATE OF YOUR CHILD

1. What position does he/she sleep in?
2. Is there any position he/she seems unable to sleep in?
3. Any unusual behaviour during sleep?
4. Any problems with sleep?
5. What foods are craved (cravings are strong desires) What foods are hated?
6. What drinks are craved? What drinks are hated?
7. How does he/she react when hungry, or hunger is prolonged?
8. How does the weather affect?
9. How does the temperature affect?
10. Are there any other environmental influences negative or positive (season, noise, music, moon, light, dark, day, night, time, smells etc.)
11. Problems with stool or bowel habit?
Problems with urine or bladder habit?
12. Where does he/she sweat most? Does it stain or smell unusual?

PREGNANCY AND BIRTH

1. What kind of health problems occurred while you were pregnant with your child?

2. Were there any other stresses or traumas that occurred?

3. Did the birth itself have any problems?

4. Do you remember if any symptoms occurred suddenly during pregnancy that then vanished after your child was born? Especially important are any emotional or mental changes during this time.

He is avg weight his height isn't that great some people think he is 2 years but he's 3 years old he always looks drained especially after he has a tantrum session
He never expresses pain or fear of anything he doesn't describe stories nightmares etc
He is always screaming more so when he is hungry or sleepy
His screaming is triggered when his request isn't fulfilled right away or when he cannot describe what he is trying to communicate for example he will scream a request I want toy and if I say ok wait he will scream and cry until his request is made
When he is asked to come inside he cries and kicks
When he is watching YouTube video and an ad comes he gets upset and cries screams until it's over
He cries really loud if he drops his toy on the floor he will not pick it up himself
He is not into stories he watches movies like cars and polar express he does imitate actions from movies and repeat its dialogues during play
He mostly plays with his 2 yr old cousin the run around and play nicely and fight over toys common among kids he gets shy with new kids
He screams when too close to stranger and will drop on floor and cries
He loves playing with cars trains trucks planes
He doesn't take direction well , speak like other kids his age
He never asks questions or shows curiosity on anything he gets really frustrated when he can't explain his request and when his request isn't met quickly
Sometimes he will just scream for no reason as well

He sleeps on his stomach mostly occasionally on his side or stomach
He screams in his sleep for few mins sometimes takes 10 mins to calm down however this has subsided recently and if he does wake up crying he want his toy to sleep with
He loves salty foods like chips etc he will not eat fruit at all no candy just cookies he will eat roti and rice he doesn't drink milk much maybe less then a cup a day no juice he drinks water but not too much he doesn't eat or drink on his own unless it's fries or Chips or junk food i give him vitamins everyday
He gets reoccurring cancker soars in his mouth along his tongue all the way to the back but he never complains about it he will just not eat well he is happy when he is playing and being naughty I give him time outs put movie on to calm him get him to sit and okay cards or color , distract him try to have conversations about what happened during the day etc

During pregnancy I craved a lot of carbs I ate a lot gained 40 pounds he was 5 pounds and was born 5 weeks early I had to take oxygen mask during delivery because my Bp was low and his oxygen level went low whenever I had contractions or pushed
He was poor feeder from when he was born
My second pregnancy was complicated I was hospitalized for a week and he had extreme separation anxiety he has improved a lot with the anxiety but I'm having hard time getting him to talk and explain his feelings express himself through speech and not scream he is not jealous With his little brother
I need something to calm his screaming and develop his speech
Also he doesn't sit to read books or color maybe just few mins he doesn't seem to show interest in holding a pen or listening to stories he just wants to play run scream all day long
Hope this description helps

Ok there are a couple of choices here, but I would like you to start with the remedy BUFO RANA 30c.

If you instead have pillules or pellets, you will need a small bottle and a dropper to make your own liquid dose. Mix water and alcohol into this small bottle to the ratio of 5:1. Dissolve 3 pillules/pellets into this bottle. All doses will be made from this bottle.

If you already have a liquid dose just start from step 1.

1. Hit the bottle 5 times firmly against the palm of the hand

2. Place 3 drops into 100mls of clean fresh water

3. Stir very thoroughly

4. Take 2 teaspoons out into the mouth and hold for 20 seconds, then swallow.

This is one dose and the same steps should be taken for any further doses, unless I ask you to change them in some way.

Give him 3 doses, one each day, STOPPING if there is any noticeable aggravation of any of his symptoms.

If any old symptoms reappear, or any current symptoms worsen, this is a GOOD sign in most cases. DO NOT SUPPRESS them with other kinds of medication unless he is in real danger (which is a highly unlikely reaction to a remedy).

However, if he is on regular medication it is also important that you do NOT stop taking this. Once it is determined the medicine has acted beneficially, we can look at reducing such medication if safe to do so.

Thank you so much !
Can I give him the bufo Rana 30c in pallet form? I don't think he will hold the solution in his mouth for 20 seconds :/
If I can give him pallet form what's the dosage ?
You're a life saver thanks again

Am123 9 years ago
Don't give him the pillules/pellets directly into the mouth. That may cause a large aggravation of his symptoms. If he won't take the teaspoons, use a separate dropper (clean) to put the liquid from the teaspoons into his mouth.

If you only have 1 dropper, after placing the drops into the cup of water, clean the dropper with hot water by flushing it several times. Then you can use the same dropper to suck up the water from the teaspoons.

Sorry I can't find liquid form of the medicine only pallet form
Can I make it without alcohol ?

Am123 9 years ago
Hi Evocationer may not be on here
for a couple more days.

He is trying to set up the dosing bottle
with the alcohol, so that the medicine
if it works, can be continually changed
up by hitting the bottle more times if
needed.

This gets much more complicated if
you don't use the alcohol, bc you have to make the
remedy up fresh and you have to remember the amount
of doses and amounts of hits on the bottle and add those
up for each dose, etc.

It will be much easier to control what is going on with
doses if you do the alcohol.

Sorry to be difficult is there an alternative to this remedy we don't drink and I want to avoid use of alcohol even if it's minimal I don't and won't have access to alcohol to prepare this and can't seem to find liquid form online
I also would like to add that my son has started to repeat some phrases he has memorized randomly over and over and sometimes repeat while screaming
I had his speech evaluated recently and he is under 2 years of speech development the therapist noted he feeds off energy in the room, he doesn't make eye contact or answer you if he doesn't want to only if he interested in it , he is good in repeating things , difficulty pronouncing some words and does not speak spontaneously he will only say sentences that he has memorized
He screams so loud his eyes get red and he always looks tired even when he is well rested
Plz if you can give me an alternative that is pellet form it will be greatly appreciated

Dear Am,

What country are you in? ( so I can help
with where to get medicines)

simone717 9 years ago
You can make it without alcohol, but the medicine will only last a few days that way. You will need to keep remaking it if repeat doses are necessary.

There is already alcohol in the pellets though, and in all homoeopathic medicines you buy - dry form or liquid form.

Evocationer 9 years ago
I was able to find it online through this same websites store
I started using it in my son a week ago
I tap the bottle like you instructed mix 3 drops of it well in 100 ml of fresh water and give him 2 tsp three times a day when the batch is done i make more
I see very little improvement but I do notice his speech some words have become clearer to understand and his screaming isn't as consistent he still screams especially if he gets excited from watching a cartoon movie or just from the environment he Is in at the moment
How long should I continue this dosage ? Am I doing the dosage mixing correct ?

Hello
It's been about 10 days into the treatment and my son caught a cold a few days ago his face has become flushed and just red patches on his cheeks and chin area not sure if it's side effect of bufo rana or cold
I have been giving me homeopathy hylands cold tablets too is it bad combination ? Why the redness ?
Also he has improved a bit but has become clingy to me

Am123 9 years ago
3 times a day? I said 3 DOSES - one each day.

You have given him too much. Please stop immediately and wait. We need to let the medicine wear off and try and assess what has happened. Wait one week then we can do a proper assessment.

It is very important to read the instructions carefully before dosing. Homoeopathy can have side effects if misused.

I feel terrible for giving him too much
It's been a week since ive stopped the medication
He has become overly clingy, follows me everywhere, he has gone against his grandmother who he was once close to, still screams... Screaming seemed to have improved very little, he repeats some phrases over and over, has a scenario in his mind that he has seen or heard over and over and his old symptom of waking up and screaming at night has returned he had stopped this but it's returned. Also if he wakes middle of night he repeats sentences that he has im his mind over and over inappropriate to the situation, he has started putting everything in his mouth which he used to do before, his speech pronounciation has improved slightly, he is starting preschool next week for his problems with speech and see speech therapist I'm scared he will have intense separation anxiety
What should i do ?

Am123 9 years ago
Plz tell me what I should do next his speech is slowly improving but screaming and tantrums are still bad
He screams on everything and his mind is always busy never relaxing his brain he's always repeating phrases that are stuck in his mind and is aggressive too

Am123 9 years ago
Hmmm...I am not sure what has happened. Is he worse because of the overdosing, or just unaffected by the remedy because it is the wrong one?

How is the speech improved? Is it the only improvement?

Are you able to get the remedy Zincum metallicum 30c?

Evocationer 9 years ago
Yes his speech has improved
His words have become a little clearer then before and he tries to make spontaneous sentences short sentences but he does which he never did before I feel like he doesnt want to try and rather scream
He still screams and he is sensitive to little things like he cries so hard when he drops his toy or when he can't get something the way he wants. He used to wake up at night screaming few months ago it stopped but recently it started again
He's very active, sensitive child can be aggressive and hyper at times too
And yes i am able to find the medicine in pellet form

Am123 9 years ago
Actually, can you get both Zincum met 30c and Bufo 200c? I think I would like to try the higher dose of Bufo before we move to a new remedy.

Evocationer 9 years ago
What dosage do I use them and in what order ?

Am123 9 years ago
The way each one will be administered will be exactly the same as the 30c, however 200c would only require ONE dose initially (not one per day, just one only).

Zincum met is only a back up at this stage. We may or may not need to use it.

Hey
So I gave one dose of bufo rana 200 yesterday to my son
How long does it take to take affect ?
These days he is so tired since he started preschool he wakes up at 3-4 and stays awake till 5-6 am and he doesn't nap and won't nap he just wants me to be with him all night
He used to sleep well without me being by his side
Will this sleep issue get better with bufo rana ? His eyes are sunken in and red also I put him to bed at 8 pm and wakes up at 7 30 for preschool even if I put him to sleep at 9 pm he will still wake up at middle of night and just stare at the ceiling or want his toys or hold my hand etc
He isn't eating well these days either just cereal and chips is all he wants
Anything for his sleep? I have nux vomica 6c on hand, pulsatilla 30c on hand and calc phos 30x, calc carb 200 on hand any of these that I can give him for better rest sleep?
Also he has been putting everything in his mouth these days and bites on them and his breath has been smelling a little off he doesn't like to brush his teeth ...

Am123 9 years ago
It is important not to give multiple remedies. Each one can change the effect of the original remedy, or even cancel it out.

I would expect the remedy to initially make him worse, then improvement to set in after a week or so.

Is he worse than he was?

Evocationer 9 years ago
No he is same
I have been giving him hylands flu and cold homeopath medicine since he has a cold for a few days
Do you think that canceled the bufo rana? I did not give him anything for 3 days after I gave him bufo rana
Thanks so much for your help

Am123 9 years ago
Yes those combinations can cancel out the effect of any other remedy given. It is important to never mix homoeopathics together.

The real problem is that it is hard to know what has happened. Perhaps the combination remedy antidoted the remedy, perhaps it suppressed the cold symptoms, perhaps it did nothing and the Bufo was ineffective. It does slow things down considerably as we have to work out which of these things occurred.

First reaction to a remedy *should* be a worsening of the symptoms. The improvement will usually come a few hours, days or rarely a few weeks later. Typically I would expect the aggravation to start within the first 3 days, peak 3-5 days after the dose, and improvement should be noticeable once the aggravation begins to subside. This often isn't seen until the first week is over, at least not in a definite form.
