Belladonna for Asthma question

I began taking Belladonna for my asthma based on my own research, and I'm glad to say after three days, I feel much better. I have only resorted to a rescue inhaler twice (first thing in the AM both times) in the last three days, I had been using the rescue inhaler every couple of hours since going off steriod medications. Here's my question: Is it possible for this remedy to cure my asthma, and could it be possible that this remedy is actually suppressing my asthma? I'm always leary of feeling to good to quickly. Anyone care to share their thoughts? Thank you in advance.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Belladonna is a quick and short acting remedy it will not cure you.It will not give you permanent relief. If you want to get rid of asthma problem permanently you have to post your symptoms in detail from head to foot.In the mean time i suggest you to take Blatta orientalis 3x,5 drops in a little water 4 times daily.

Homeopathic medicines do not suppress, they give relief for a short period if not cure. Allopathy suppresses asthma to later bring out eczema and suppresses eczema to bring out asthma, like see-saw in children's park.

Do you periodically have a remission period(a few days of no asthma) when you are under allopathic treatment only? Any possibility of the remission period coinciding with the period of your homeopathic treatment?

Sahai, I never noticed a remission period. I've been off steriod meds for a year and two months. I was doing well in summer, meaning asthma was not a daily problem, but as soon as the season began to change my breathing became a problem. I get out of breath very easily and have frequent and quickly progressing attacks. The attack begins as an itch deep in my lungs and within a few seconds I can barely breath in at all. The belladonna makes me feel great, I've been sleeping better too. I realize what sajjadakram said is true, but would it be potentially harmful to utillize the belladonna on a regular basis?

If we take a medicine of the same potency regularly over a long period, there is a possibility of those very symptoms being created in our system (by our own medicine) for the cure of which we are using the medicine. In homeopathy we call it "Proving".

There are two ways of avoiding such a situation. One is to give a break of about one week, to break the continuity and the other is to keep on increasing the potency. The second method is better.

There are again two ways of increasing the potency. One is to buy the next higher potency from the market, but this has limitations. We have only 3,6,12,30,200,1000 etc. in the market. The other is a convenient method of increasing the potency of each dose, method invented by the Founder and explained below. In this we first climb small steps between the big market steps and after some time jump to the next market step and so on.

As an example, buy Belladona 6C,1 drachm, liquid medicine. Mix in the ratio of 1 drop of medicine in 1 ounce of distilled water/non-medicinal spring water(boiled)/rain water(collected after it has rained for a few minutes)/last choice, drinking water(boiled to drive out chlorine) and shake the mixtures vigorously at least 10 times. Out of this, use 1 tea-spoonful as a dose. Take thrice a day. Shake the mixture every time, as before, to increase its potency, before taking the next dose.

Keep reducing the frequency of the dose as you feel better and better.

Do not put strong smelling things, like raw onion, garlic, mint, strong tea/coffee/spices,tooth paste etc., one hour before and after taking medicine, in the mouth.

Blatta Orietalis is an excellent remedy for asthma, but since Belladona suits you so well, let us try it out for the time being, before we change it. Only trial will tell whether it will cure you, but there is no harm in trying, because in homeopathy no one medicine works for every body.

What do you say?

I would like to copy below my standard prescription to alleviate Asthma which I have used in over 50 cases including children which has worked admirably. The great advantage of Nat Sulph 6c is that it not only helps to alleviate the problem but it also cures the ailment in chronic parients in a few months while those who use it soon after they first get the warning signs of Asthma are cured in a few days.

The remedy that I recommend you use is Nat Sulph 6c which must be used precisely in the manner indicated below:

Get a 500ml bottle of Spring Water from your nearest supermarket.
Pour out 100ml
Drop in 3 pellets or 1 drop of liquid Nat Sulph 6c into the 400ml water
Cap the bottle tightly and succuss it 4-6 times by banging on your palm and look out for the air bubbles to fizzle up from the bottom.
Pour out 1 teaspoonful of the potentized remedy into half a cup of water from another bottle of the same water and stir it gently.
Sip 1 teaspoonful of the water from the cup just once daily.

You will have to stop all other medication if you wish to start on this therapy.

This remedy should be taken daily for some time in the future and you may like to know that I have many instances of adults who were chronic sufferers from Asthma for many years who do not use the remedy any more after about 4 months on this therapy. Others who were not so chronic react favourably in a few days and only use the remedy if and when necessary.

The remedy that I have used when the patient is having an acute attack ans is straining for breath is Ars Alb 200c. This remedy is taken dry and just 4 globules will suffice for a dose which may only be taken just once daily when the patient is gasping for breath. This usually clears the lungs and opens up the airways in under 20 minutes.

Thank you, Sajjad. I will shop tomorrow and prepare the dosage as you suggest. In the meantime I will read up on Blatta as I am not familiar with it. Thanks for responding.

Since sajjad has not commented, you can go ahead with my suggestion for using Belladona, in the post dt.8th.05, to avoid delay.

Sahai,
My dear both Belladonna and Blatta will control the attack but for permanent cure the case must be complete. He should tell each and every thing right from head to foot. The complete sig
n and symptoms of every organ including mind symptoms. If Bell is giving him relief i thing he must try it first but ask for details.Allopath only palliate they dont have any cure of asthma they just manage the sitution. We both can help him but needs details.

Here are some details to help with prescribing. Thankyou both for your concern.

Female
age 31 (32 this month)
Blonde, fair skin, blue eyes
single-parent of 2 kids ages 9&7

Health concerns:
Over weight
dry skin on hands that cracks and bleeds

terrible asthma worse at night and in cold dry air. Much improved in warm humid air. Had a complete dissapearance of symptoms this summer on vacation near the ocean. I feel this is a significant clue.

Highly allergic to dogs, but not cats

Past health history:
Had allergice reaction to blackberrys (hives) once as a child.
As a child had chronic ear and throat problems, had tonsils and adnoids removed at age 11. Had Scarlet fever same year. Very ill. Resulted in a slight heart murmur.

Cought pneumonia in college at 19 years old. Became very very ill. Diagnosis eventually became Mononucleosis. Went through several different antibiotics. Got very disallusioned with allopathic meds at that time.

Had my first child at 22 two and a half months prematurely due to a strep b infection, for which I was told i am a carrier.

Had second child at 24, full term, no complications.

Both natural births though i had to receive antibiotics during second birth to prevent passing on Strep B.

Diet: I am a vegetarian (no meat chicken or fish) I do eat eggs and dairy.

I have a wicked sweet tooth, probably the cause of my weight. I am heavy but actually very physically fit. I was a dancer for many years and built up solid muscles.

I am not, nor have I ever been, able to sleep. I hear everything and feel like i never loose conciousness. I feel very tired during the day. I try to go to bed early but it takes hours to fall asleep. I took kava kava as a sleep aid for a couple of years and it worked well, but they found it was harmful in large doses and now I can't find the kind I used.

Mentally: I consider myself to be generally happy. I get mentally exausted time to time from the children, but I handle it well. I am logical and well educated, and I have a passion for reading. I love music all kinds and feel very emotionally moved by some.
When I get sad I cry in private.

Asthma description:

My asthma is sudden occurences of my airways constricting. Begins with an itch low in my lungs and would progress quickly. I've been off allopathic meds (steriods) for almost two years, but i still use the fast acting inhaler several times a day. Was waking up at night with suffocative attacks. I was scared that It would kill me. Asthma is aggravated by any increase in my heart rate, cold air, and alcohol and being near ciggarette smoke. (I do not smoke).
I feel like I cannot take deep breaths or fill my lungs with air ever.

Currently I've been taking Spongia several times a day and it works well but wears off quickly. I'M using Belladonna before bed. I feel better than I've felt in years but still have a long way to go. I can sleep better but have been very restless the last two nights. Took kali bich this morning for a stuffy nose.

I'm sorry this information is not organized better. Please let me know if I have left things out. Thank you both so much!!

Update: I ran out of Spongia so I used Ignatia to control my asthma simply because it was the most indicated when choosing from what I had on hand. Works very well, but just as the others do, it wears off. On the upside I'm finding lots of remedies that are helping me control my asthma. On the downside, I don't believe I've found anything curative. I think I would like to try Ammonium Carbonicum. Any opinions?

Dont use any other medicine except Bell until we reach to some conclusion.Rapid change of medicines ruins the case my Dear.

Well said. I will follow advice. A detail omitted from my above medical history: I had my apendix removed about five years ago due to severe abdominal pain (like gas cramps) and a high white blood cell count. I was later told that the apendix was only mildly inflamed. Pain does not return.

Sajjad: I can not take Belladonna any longer. It is making me itch everywhere. I need to switch remedies. I caught a cold five days ago now my chest is wheezy at night. Worse after 4PM. Please advise.

For chest wheezing you can use ipecac 6c,5 drops four times daily. It will help.Very soon shall let you know the best possible remedy for asthma.

Stopped Bellad for a week and began again at lowest potency. Without remedy I must use inhalers. With remedy no inhalers ever needed. I've been doing research. I believe I have a sycotic block to my health and I've been searching for the curative remedy. I think Calcarea Carbonica may be the one. Thuja and Meddor were my first thoughts, of course, but I've read that Calc can be be used as well in this situation, and the remedy picture fits me very well and is complimentary with Belladonna, not that I plan to take both. I am going to start the Calc tomorrow, unless anyone would like to suggest another choice? I would also be interested in educated opinions. If no one cares to respond, I will continue to post the progression of my case for reference (positive or negative, we'll see!)
