3 1/2 years child rolling eyes Page 3 of 8

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Hi,
your child is having what is considered epilepsy in USA. The treatment you gave her so far obviously does not work, because she's still having spells.
Epilepsy, if left untreated, progresses and leads to mental deterioration and lower quality of life.
Your child needs less stress in her life, cause stressful situations, whatever the stress is, emotional, mental, physical, trigger spells.
If she wants cooler temperature for the resful sleep, it's your duty as a parent to provide her with that comfort.
I would also suggest taking her to a neurologist for cosultation.
The earlier beginning of epilepsy treatment has much higher success rate.
Do not underestimate the situation,it could be a matter of life and death, really.
Good luck to you little child.

John Can you please reply?

Petit mal or not, we understand that the best solution is homeopathy.

Besides she has been responding to the treatment.

As I said earlier the spells are less intense now. We observed some increase in frequency yesterday but that is only a days observation.

These days (after sulph 200), she has mostly stopped staring. She does roll her eyes. But while she does that, she continues to do whatever she is doing. For example, if there is an obstacle on the way, she crosses that intelligently and does not fall even while she is rolling her eyes. We observed this even when she used to stare before the Sulph dose.

Spells continue to be short (1-5) secs. Now, she rolls her eyes up and just after 1-2 second she starts getting them down.

When she used to stare, it was possible to inerrupt her staring spell and when we interrupted her, she used to not go into the rolling phase. Interrupting was possible by as much as just calling her name.

For the past couple of days she has shown some improvements in her drawnig/painting skills. She is anyway above average in all these activities for her age.

She keeps asking for the flavoured milk. Should we give that to her regularly until she agrees to try normal milk too? It got artificial flavours and is sweetened.

the post above placed by 'mother' --i do not share their views-as it is fear based--cases not treated holistically---and yes i do observe that child is treatable and responding to homoeopathy--this we are doing--so no fear--we monitor progress closely and prescribe as needed--i'm not going anywhere--

John Stanton last decade
as far as flavoured milk --wait a bit see how things settle in before encouraging sweet usage--best for now avoid artificial sweeteners and all products made with refined white sugar---this may just as well apply to high fructose corn syrp and other extratc concentrations ..

For the past three-four days she is doing better.

She is passing stools twice a day,

Today I got a VCD for the kids. My daughter was obviously very excited. Normaly we have been keeping her away from TV.

When I played the VCD, she got thoroughly absorbed in the video. She was continuously staring at the screen in exactly the same way as she does when she stares (without rolling). As reported earlier, she gets similarly absorbed when she is "reading" picture story books. She understands the stories very well and can narrate them to others by seeing the pictures.

puneet last decade
Staring at the video screen is not a new symptom. I observed this before she was given the Puls 1M dose.

Just after watching the video/TV her rolling (of eyes) symptom also aggravates for 5-10 minutes.

puneet last decade
what other symptoms did you observe that occured (besides eye rolling) during the 5-10 minutes?

John Stanton last decade
She looks tired. Aggravation from watching temporary.

puneet last decade
She did not roll her eyes (only stared) during the time VCD was played. Rolling would happen 1-2 minutes after the screen is switched off. I observed this when she watched TV 2-3 months back too.

puneet last decade
what is current mental /emotional aspect of child?

John Stanton last decade
Just to complete the pervious observation, I would like to mention that the child is quite observant normally too. In situations where she is introduced to a group of playing kids, she would initially stand at a distance and observe them (looking/staring at them) for some time before she joins them. This has been like this since her early childhood (much before she started rolling her eyes).

Memory and Intelligence
=======================

- Better than average -- very focussed behaviour

She is doing good at her school. As she very seldom rolls her eyes when she is outdoors, it is not effecting her school performance. Actually her teachers tell that she is doing better than average. Her teachers say that she remains very FOCUSSED on her activities. We have also observed that she is good at logic and good at memorising things and indeed very focussed.

Fears
=====

- mostly due to past experiances (or stories)

She is afraid of dogs, snakes, bats and insects. The fears are normally associated with her past experiances or with the stories she has read. For example a bat once entered our house (did not harm anybody though - but it was a bad experiance). She similarly had a black/dirty dog come very near her while playing om a couple of accasions.

She is afraid of getting left alone when she is outdoors. While inside the house, she sometimes prefers to sit alone in a room (thinking something or reading a book). Similarly she is not afraid of darkness if she is inside the house.

Yesterday somebody had brought an artificial snake in the playground. On seeing that she screamed and started crying. After a couple of minutes she stopped crying when she was told that it was an artificial one.

Sleep
=====

Normally does not want to sleep even when very sleepy. Will keep lying on the bed next to her mother thinking something (eyes open -- not staring). Mostly her mother sleeps before she sleeps. When asked what she is thinking about, she will reply that she is not thinking about anything (but it is very clear from her looks that she is thinking something).

Relationship with Mother
========================

Today she was mildly scolded by her mother for she was insisting on wearing an awkward dress combination. She kept insisting on the dress even after getting scolded. But when her mother did not agree, she started crying complaining (to others) that she was scolded. She also said that her mother has been scolding her even when she was very young.

Often when she does not like some of her mother's action, she would ask later (sometimes even a month later) why she did it that way.

The child is emotionally quite attached to her mother and also to her grandmother. Sometimes there is a rift between her mother and grandmother. She does not like that.

Self Conscious
=============
While doing different things she keeps asking how good is she. She asks this when she wears a new dress. This question is often followed by another asking what will her friends say when they see her.

Relationship with Brother
=========================
Does not like when others (especially mother/grandmother) are attending to the younger brother. She sometimes rolls her eyes if she finds them doing so. She holds her emotions to herself (looks very sad though). Never tells others that she does not like him. Her brother though younger is more aggressive. Sometimes he bites her. She does not retalliate.

Lately (after Sulph) her relation with brother is improving. They have lately been observed playing together.

General
=======

She sometimes becomes very stubborn while asking for something to eat. Sometimes when she is being given something she likes, she will demand more and more until her container is overflowing. If we stop before that she starts crying loud.

This is improving lately. She still demands unreasonable quantity. But she stops much before the container is full.

Urination
=========
She very often rolls her eyes just before she wants to urinate. This is still continuing.

Overall we do observ changes in her attitude and her rolling symptoms. The improvement is slow but accumulatively significant over the weeks.

Her appetite is definitely increased. Stools are now regular. She is gaining strength and looks less weak.

John, I want to discuss somethings about her mother (my wife). For some reasons, I would like to do that by email. Is it OK with you if I write to you on your hotmail address?

Thanks and Warm Regards
- Puneet

child seems improvement--key is now to be observant of subtle changes...no remedy...just observation at this point..

as far as wife's case --you can email me or post here -i am ok either way...

John Stanton last decade
Thanks John, I will be writing about her tomorrow.

The child was much better for a couple of days. The frequency and intensity of rolling/staring had gone down quite a lot. But since yesterday the frequency has gone up somewhat. But it is still better than last week.

As reported earlier, she rubs her eyes very aggressively just before she sleeps. She also scratches her scalp.

When she closes her eyes for sleeping, her face looks sad. Another observation is that sometimes (just before sleeping), when she opens her eyes, the eyes are already rolled up. Then she blinks them 3-4 times to get them back.

She used to be very adament of about not getting her hair shampoed. This has improved since the last 2-3 weeks.

Aversion to milk, white butter, curd. It is more like a block in the mind -- a decision that she has taken. Aversion to milk/curd followed a fever/convulsion when 10 months old. This was during peak summers. For a couple of days after fever she was given warm milk to avoid cough. Started refusing milk after a couple of days. Stopped taking curd too. Never had vomitting after taking milk -- does not agree to try it out. Though she likes cheese and some other milk products (even after we told her that they are made out of milk). Keeps saying she will take milk when she grows up.

Likes lemonade (we use natural brown sugar now). Takes lots of oranges. Once I told her to try freshly made orange juice. She said she will not take it. Has been avoiding orange juice since then. Kind of once she decides she will stick to her decision.

Had allergy to grass when she was two years. eruptions on legs and arms. no treatment -- did not take her to park for a few days -- subsided naturally.

Does not like fireworks. Does not like noise out of fireworks even if at a distance. Runs inside on seeing fireworks. visibly disturbed.

Better in winters. Staring/rolling also started with the onset of summers. She had also started going to school then. She also gained height those days. Was taking lots of melons.

Also enjoys taking cherries, water melon, mango, guava.

Afraid of thunderstorms. Was scared of wind once during a storm. Likes going out in the rain.

Does not like warmth in the bed (at least during summers). Likes to sleep right in front of room-cooler. Does not like taking a sheet cover. Violently puts away if we cover her legs with a cotton sheet when she is asleep. Does not like sleeping in lap (probably because of the warmth). Does not cling to mother while sleeping.

These days she is often sleeping on her stomach. Sometimes on her side with one knee folded (often atop a pillow). When sleeping on her side she likes facing the cooler. Scratches head and rubs eyes before sleeping.

Never snows in this region. No problems with fog during winters.

Asks for warm water if taking bath early -- 7am. But there are times when she takes bath in normal water. Often uncomfortable wetting her hair. Sometimes does not let bathe head at all. Enjoys sitting in the water tub (with head kept dry). As hair keep dirty, scratches head. Is often seen scratching head while playing with other kids.

Gets smelly perspiration on the lower head (just above the neck portion).

Exposure to sun is OK.
