Potency in medicineHello sir
I have been practising homeopathic medicine for long. But whenever i use I always have doubt in selecting potency. This potency system is confusing to me. Because selecting right choice of medicine is one problem and then selecting right potency is another big problem. Because right medicine with wrong potency doesn't work. So kindly guide me when to take which potency. I have learnt from a physician to take higher potencies for chronic/ long term problem and lower for short term/just happened problems. But yet i need have clear/sound knowledge in this potency selection. When to choose 6 30 200 C/M. Thanks in advance.

Right medicine in wrong potency SHOULD still help the patient, although the overall changes may not be what you hope for until the right potency is found. Usually starting low and working upwards you will eventually find the right level. LM potencies are particularly useful this way.
It is very rare for me to see a patient get no reaction to the right remedy in an inappropriate potency. It does happen occasionally, but in such cases you need to be confident of the choice and work through other potencies or even scales - particularly to go downwards if you have started too high.
The guideline you have been given for the use of higher and low potencies is definitely incorrect. Potency is not selected for those reasons, and if you are trying to do it that way it is no wonder you are struggling.
I taught homoeopathy at a degree level for many years. I can try to run through what I have taught my students. It is the weekend here and I have only small windows of opportunity to write posts, but I will try and post something to help you.
