Topical remedies

I am new to this forum but want to find out about making topical remedies. I need a remedy in cream form but have been unable to get hold of it anywhere. I can however get it in tablet form. Does anyone know if you can make a solution out of the tablet that can then be applied to the skin and work as effectively?
Would be very interested to hear any replies.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
'beckyg' :
Your query is not a problem. It CAN BE DONE. Give details on the specific application required and the kind of tablet (medicine) that has to be made into a topical cream.

Nesha thank you for your reply.
The cream (or topical application I need is Ingluvin 30c. I am able to get hold of the remedy in any potency in either granules or pillules form from the States.
I look forward to hearing from you as to which form and strength I should get and how to make it into a topical preparation.
Thanking you in advance.

'beckyg' : Apologies for the late response.

Normally, the intention of topical application, is absorbtion via the epidermis (skin), the effect of which is dependent on the intensity and density of the drug action Per Square Inch (PSI) of the skin surface. Hence by this theory, the physical content of the drug in the topical cream / lotion is adjusted for such purposes.

OPTION No. 1.

1. Take local vaseline (USP or BP) grade in a broad mouth glass jar. Let this vaseline melt when kept inside and steamed (inside a domestic pressure cooker or a pan filled with water). Takes a minute only. Then remove.
2. While the vaseline is still liquid, pour in the drug (which you want to make as a topical application - (liquid or powder is immaterial).
3. Determine the quantity of the drug, as per the application intensity required of the drug. (normally 2 part drug and 8 part vaseline).
4. Keep stirring the liquid vaseline and the drug, until the entire solution starts to thicken up. Once done, keep it in the refrigerator once ONLY for 30 mintues to settle and solidfy properly. Take out and use when required appropriately.

OPTION No. 2.
1. Take some Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA) or neutral Alcohol.
2. Dampen the Skin with this alcohol.
3. While the skin is still damp with this alcohol, immediately apply / spread the drug (liquid or powder is immaterial)
.OR.
Alternatively mix appropriate drug in a little alcohol and apply immediately.
Option No. 2, cannot be used to store for long periods and is used only for single INSTANT application only.
Option no. 2, is more effective, more specific, and NON-messy.

Option No. 3.
1. Wet the skin using PURIFIED Ionised water (not distilled water or mineral water)
2. While the skin is still damp with this water, immediately apply / spread the drug (liquid or powder is immaterial)
3. Wrap this skin part only with transparant plastic film (preferably food-grade Cling flim) for minimum 2 hours (upto 6-8 is also no problem). Remove plastic film and wash skin with normal water or 1:99 ratio Soda Bicarb solution water (strictly no soap solution).

Hope above information serves your purpose. If above is confusing, please ask appropriately.

If you give the reason (with specific details) for you requirement of a topical application, I would be able to guide you more approriately regarding the drug / medicine.
