bph (post turp)
Greetings all...My first postWill try to make this brief. Had severe urinary retention in June 2005. Uro tried Foley for 2 weeks along with Uroxatrol. Flow had better volume but still 400cc+ retention. Aug 2005 I had TUMP. No change with all that pain!! Had more Foleys. Still unacceptable retention. Mar 2006 had TURP followed with more Uroxatrol and Proscar. First 45 days were outstanding. Flow was fantastic and retention down to 160cc. 3 months later now, I'm using a cath 2-3 times daily, with very little flow. Am taking Uroxatrol and Avodart now, which seems to be of no positive benefit to me. My question is this Joe?
May I hopelessly continue with those while starting Arica 30c wet?
Please give me some direction, Joe....
Thank You

To Terry
I was just about to sign off as it is just about midnight here in Sri Lanka when I saw your post coming in.
I presume that you have read the many posts that I have made about how Arnica has helped many patients who are post TURP whom I have helped with Arnica 30c in the wet dose.
May I suggest that you stop all drugs that you are now taking for just 2 days and use Arnica 30c only in the wet dose which you can take every 3 hours in a teaspoonful after succussion ?
If you discover that you are better there is a possibility that you may be able to avoid another adventure with your surgeon, who has obviously messed up your case and perhaps made a bad situation worse.
I believe that what has happenned is that your Urethra has again been blocked by some growth inside it which is now blocking the flow of urine which you stated was fantastic at the beginning but dwindled today 3 months later. You must be warned that if Arnica does not help you, you will have to undergo another TURP surgery perferably by another Uro as it is obvious that your last one was not sufficiently competent enough to deliver the goods.
I shall be interested to have your report in a couple of days and I wish you well.

Greetings Joe
Starting my 4th day w/Arnica 30c in the wet dose. Have noticed no difference in sleeping but since I work nites and 'try' to sleep days....Not easy!
However....what a difference I'm starting to have with flow and volume again. Normal, well of course not, retention sure, but I'm so enthused at this point. Haven't had this progress for weeks. There is one change I'm concerned about, Joe
I still must cath at least once daily. I notice at times quite a restriction trying to pass the prostate. Could the Uroxatrol or Avodart have been 'relaxing' the prostate for this?
Another regimen, Joe, that seems to be helping me with so much unnecessary mucus, which cannot be helpful with urine flow and bladder health. Daily 1000mg vitamin C, 16 oz 'quality' cranberry juice, 64 oz water, and 2 beers. Sorry Joe, gotta have them....
Any helpful advice at this point will be appreciated. BTW, Joe.....I'm 61...
Thank You
Terry

I am naturally delighted that the Arnica therapy has helped with your Urine retention but I regret to inform you that your surgeon has left some section of the Urethra which, from what you state, seems to block the passage of urine.
I believe that you may have to get this flap resected again.
Let us give the Arnica a few more weeks before you consider the next step.
