Chelidonium for varicocele, advice please Page 3 of 3

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Erika, thank you, that has clarified it for me more, but I still have more questions.

I cannot find anything in either Nux Vom or Lycopodium referring to 'varicose veins' as such. There are different things mentioning the testes but nothing specifically saying about varicosities. I found 'varicose veins' in the remedy find and it told me that 'Carbo Vegetabilis' was suitable for this.

I know that homeopathy normally describes symptoms rather than naming them by their 'official' medical name, but I am a bit lost here. If the Remedy Finder mentions varicose veins in those exact words in one remedy, should it not be also mentioned in the most suitable remedy for my boyfriend?

I found lots of references to pain and swelling in relation to the testes/spermatic cords like these -
male; inflammation; testes
male; pain; spermatic cords
male; pain; testes
male; pain; aching; spermatic cords
male; pain; aching; testes
male; pain; contracting; spermatic cord
male; pain; pulling; spermatic cords; extending to testes
male; swelling; testes
male; testes and scrotum (balls); scrotum swollen by fluid accumulation

but do these all amount to a varicocele being reduced by this remedy? Because I am sure you know it's just a varicose vein that's grown large (swollen, like a ball of worms) inside a man's testicles.

I know that it would be good to rid him of the other annoyances but the absolute most important thing above and beyond everything else, is the varicocele.

Sorry to be such a pain, but I want to understand it, and most of all I want to assist in choosing the right remedy.

Lycopodium and nux-vom are in repertories for varicose veins.
To distinguish further it may be helpful to look for food upsets/preferences, temperature preferences etc. in these 2 remedies.

oh, excellent! :D

because both fit well, but Nux Vom fits best...

You reply so quickly erika! It's really appreciated :)

Last question now!

What will be the factors upon which we will decide which potency to take? Which situations fit 6C, which for 30C and which for 200C. I am not familiar with 200C but I thought the rule was 6C for a longstanding condition and 30C for new ones?

Especially important to me is doing no harm (and I'm sure for you too)...so please advise which one would be best to take it slowly and carefully (although my boyfriend is willing to stick out a remedy if it's appropriate for his body to suffer a bit with a 'kick start' of a higher potency)

However, this is not because we're in a hurry. Time is not of the essence, my boyfriend's physical and mental wellbeing is, but if he needs a little boost to start with then he'll do it

Thanks :)

you could use the 6c or the 30c in the way mentioned above. With this method if you notice an aggravation you can stop taking the remedy and the effects will wear off quickly. This means you can stop even before the suggested week review if necessary.
Sometimes an aggravation will pass if it is minor, in this case the remedy can be stopped and started again but taken less frequently.

Okay, thanks for the info. I've ordered Nux Vom in a 30C potency from Helios so it should arrive Weds.

Does the three days a week matter which days it's on? Should it be like Mon, Weds, Fri or can you take it sometimes on consecutive days?

newbie2 last decade
best on mon, wed, fri rather than consecutive days as you then have a day without the remedy - helps to assess remedy reaction.

Erika, my boyfriend started the Nux Vom 30C on Monday (4thDec) and took it twice a day on Mon, Weds and Fri. He's noticed no difference positively or negatively in any way so we just carry on for the second week now, right?

newbie2 last decade
yep - see how it goes giving it for a second week.

erika last decade
Erika he's completed the second week now and doesn't seem to have noticed any difference physically or mentally. Should we be continuing with a third week in the same way?

if he feels better within himself (energy, emotions, other problems improved - the varicocele may not show changes for a while, but the remedy should be helping on some level to warrant continuing) then you can continue but less dosages than before.
if no change whatsover reconsider remedy.

okay...well he said that he finds it hard to say whether he's feeling better but I would say that it's easier to tell when he's feeling worse and there's been no signs of that to me & he hasn't mentioned anything negative either.

Not sure if this is related to the Nux Vom but he's had athlete's foot coming back recently...something which he suffered from in the past but he's not had for a while.

Also something strange that he mentioned to me without me prompting him (as I normally do when discussing the homeopathy). He said that during the time he's been taking the Nux Vom he's had funny little urges to do mischievous things. He's a calm, sensible guy and has very good morals etc. and isn't a criminal type but he said the other day when he was in a shop trying on clothes on his own he had a teenage urge to put something in his pocket and leave just for the excitement of it! Of course he didn't do it but he said it was weird because he'd not had a thought like that since he was a young teen (he's 28 now).

What would the change of dosage be? He had two on Monday, morning and night, as I left it too late to contact you...

the mischief thoughts could be better energy? they do not sound negative to me - however, this is very hard to assess online! sorry for the delay in reply and hope you had a good christmas and new year!
athletes foot may or may not be relevant or related - has it cleared now? try giving the remedy once or twice a week rather than three times a week for a couple of weeks.

erika last decade
I agree Erika I don't think it was negative - and my boyfriend didn't really report it as negative he just dropped it into conversation and found it amusing (because of course he'd never steal, he just felt mischievous)

The athlete's foot is gone now

We did have a good christmas and new year thanks, I hope you did too. The only thing was that my boyfriend went away for Christmas and didn't take the Nux Vom with him so he's had about 2-3 weeks taking nothing now. Should be begin with the 3 times a week again or go straight to twice a week?

newbie2 last decade
twice a week would be fine - it can then be increased or decreased if needed after a couple of weeks. :)

Erika, it's been 6 weeks since my last post so my boyf's now been taking the Nux Vom twice weekly for 6 weeks now and hasn't noticed a difference in the varicocele. Shouldn't we have seen something happening by now if it was going to work? Or would it take longer?

I have also been reading a big book on homeopathy and when I came across Chelidonium again (my original reason for this post) it did actually sound a lot like my boyf....especially as the 'consitutional type' said that the person would crave cheese and hot drinks. He craves both and is absolutely obsessed with cheese, lol.

I am wondering now what we should be doing next?

newbie2 last decade
Erika...are you around? It's been 9 weeks since we started the 2 days a week thing and the varicocele is no better. Should we still be doing the same thing or changing?
