mixing remedies

good morning,
is it ok to mix remedies? my son has the first symptons of what's " going around" i.e. mucousy cough during the day and watery eye ( left ). this bug progresses to fever, vomiting and sore throat. can i use ferrum phos to stave it off and aconite to stop the inflamation or is it one or the other?
