Severe period pain Page 2 of 2

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Yes, I am always here. I have two posts that I follow one for my period pain and one for my pilonidal cyst. But I don't want to mix the two together. For it may confuse the great and very helpful people that post their advice.

Unfortunately Sabra, I couldn't handle the pain, it got worse and I resulted to pain killers again and now I can't feel a thing. What am I to do? I am at such a lost. I have so much faith in homeopathy but so far I haven't found the right remedy. I am thinking of trying magicure's suggestion and take pulsatilla for my next monthly period.

Or should I stick to viburnum opulus 200c?

Kind regards

Vicky

Hi Vicky,

I would suggest that you should write more about yourself (your nature, cravings, aversions, thermal state, dreams, stool, skin, thirst, perspiration etc...) so that we can find out your constitutional remedy.

A constitutional remedy will take care of paiful menses, and other chronic problems/tendencies along with that.

Hi Magicure,

Here are some things about myself which I hope might help:

1) I come from a Greek background so I have olive skin- pimple prone skin. As a child I had a lot of pimples all over my back. I still have them now.

2) I love anything with vinegar, salt and spices. I can't handle drinking cold drinks during both cold and hot days. My teeth hurt and become sensitive.

3) I feel the cold very easily and always feel better and happier in the heat. I don't sweat a lot even on a hot humid day, unless I am doing vigorous exercise.

4) I don't get thirsty either. I can go throughout the day without having anything to drink. But I consciously drink 2L of water a day.

5) I am quite active and exercise 4 times a week. I love sports and the outdoors.

6) Just before my menses I break out with pimples on my face and crave chocolate. I am also very irritable and querrelsome.

If I don't take any pain killers when my menses come, I get agonizing pain across my abdomen and I lose feeling from my waist down. My legs and feet are very cold and feel numb. My breasts also swell and are painful to touch.

The pain is always worse on the second day and it feels like someone has put their hand in my tummy and is pulling out all my insides. Thats the only way I can describe it! I become quite hysterical and am doubled over on the floor.

I remember this pain during my first menses (13 yrs old) but it has increased as I have gotten older (29 yrs old).

7) I used to have alot of trouble going to the toilet and always felt constipated. For the past six months I have changed my diet (eating fruit and veges for breakfast only until 12noon) and going to the toilet more (once every 2 days).

Generally, I am quite an anxiuos person always worrying about not being late and getting things done on time. I like structure and order and plan everything I do. I hate mess and get irritable very easily at disorder. I feel like I am always tense.

I hope this information can shed some light. If you need to know more please let me know.

Kind regards

Vicky

Hi Vicky, glad we have another chance to help you. I have been looking for other symptoms and this is a neat remedy I found.

NYCTANTHES ARBOR-TRISTIS 1M.
Take one dose per week and for several weeks as needed. Once a week should work. This remedy is chosen when Eupatorium Perf does not work.

Please let us know.

Blessings, Sabra

Kindly use Mag. Phos. 3x (Bio-Chemic) 4 tablets every three hours with hot water during your pain and it will greatly help you. Please try it and inform me the result.

I will try that during my next period what do you mean by (Bio-Chem)? Is it a homeopathic remedy? I know Mag. Phos is. Sorry I am a bit confused!

Kind regards,

Vicky

Bio-Chem means Bio-Chemic Tablets. Yes, it is homoeopathic remedy which can be purchased from Homoeopathic Medicines shops and it is easily available.

I thank you very much for considering to use this medicine.

I am suggesting Viburnum Opulus 30x and start taking it 3-4 days before the period starts and cintnue during the course of period(4-5 times a day). If this helps, then we will think of increasing the potency. Try this for two periods. This is one of the forgotten homeopathic remedies.

VickyKane --

I just have to ask, have you seen a gynecologist about this? Sometimes severe menstrual pain coupled with constipation signals endometriosis, which is a treatable medical condition. Dysmenorrhea is another medical condition with similar symptoms. Only a trained physician or gynecologist can tell you for sure if you have either of these, and only after a proper pelvic exam.
I hope that's NOT what the problem is, but I do hope you'll see a professional doctor if you have not already.

Here's some info on endometriosis and dysmenorrhea:

I wish you the very best of health VickyKane. Make sure to read all you can on these subjects, see a doctor soon, and then make a sound, informed decision for yourself. :-)

Good luck and good health to you!

Hello Vicky- I had severe cramps like you and had diarrhea and nausea for years since i was 17 years old. Now I am 46 and 2 yrs ago had full hysterectomy for fibroids that had grown so large i looked 7 months pregnant. One of the fibroids was the size of a grapefruit. Now my only complaint is some breast tenderness and weight gain monthly but no more pain. Please see a doctor. Good Luck- geauxp

Hi everyone,

Thank you for all your input and especially Orume for pointing out another possible reason for my period pain. I always thought that my stomach cramps and diarrhea were associated with my period. Never thought it could be anything else. I have read up on endometriosis and find it quite disturbing that not one doctor even suggested I might have this, as I have found I have all the symptoms of a typical endometriosis patient.

I have booked an appointment with a gyneocologist and will report back. I haven't actually been to one for a long time, over 3 years and it's about time I did.

I have read that many women suffer from endometriosis and often elect surgery first. I can tell you now I am totally against surgery for something that will only supress the disease and not actually CURE IT!!!

I also discovered that from a homeopathic point of view an endometriosis patient also has other problems such as cysts. I have pilonidal cyst for the past 8 years that I am tryingto cure. Are all these related? What are your comments about this?

Kind regards,

Vicky

Hi Vicky,

I'm very happy to have been able to help. I do hope that no matter what your gynecologist finds, you get better soon!!

Remember, if your gynecologist gives a diagnosis that sounds odd or you don't agree with, it is perfectly OK to go to a different gynecologist for a second opinion.

Should more than one gynecologist recommend surgery, if I were you I would reconsider your stance against it. If two or more trained professionals think that's the best way to cure the disease, it may very well be true. I myself have had to have a surgery, not for this but for a liver ailment, and am so much better off now than I was. It was a scary thing to go through, but it helped more than any other treatment I had ever tried.

But as always, get all the information you can, plus your doctors' professional decisions, and come to a final decision on your own. Knowledge is power, and it's up to you to get that power!! :-)

I do not personally know if your cysts are related to your period pain. I am not a trained doctor, and cannot legally or ethically make that call. Show them to your gynecologist when you see him or her for the pelvic exam and ask if they could be related to your other troubles. Your gynecologist may refer you to a dermatologist or general practitioner for them though, I don't really know.

Vicky, I wish you the very, very best of health. I hope that between you and your doctor, you will get this taken care of once and for all!

Good luck and good health to you! :-)

One word of caution about your Pilonidal cyst is that you should not consider any surgery for it as it will only serve to supress it and not cure it. Repeat surgery is often indicated for this conditon if you should go under the knife.

Homeopathy has the ultimate cure for this ailment and perhaps Dr Sayeed Ahamad can advice you on the treatment.

Hello Dr. Sayeed Ahmad,

I got my period today and tried the remedy you suggested, I could only get
Mag Phos 6X instead of 3x (I hope this is ok).

My period came around lunchtime and I took 4 tablets with hot water. But I couldn't wait for 3 hours and took another dosage after 30 minutes as my pain increased and became unbearable.

It is now 7.30pm (Hong Kong time) and my pain has increased considerably (I've notice this happens during the night). I have now been taking 4 tablets every 15mins and walking around with a hot water bottle. My pain now is a dull ache apart from a few stabs of pain every 5 minutes. It is as if my period is saying 'Hey you haven't cured me yet!'

I am worried if this remedy is the right one as I am taking many dosages and the pain is not completely gone, slowly getting worse. I don't want to aggravate the problem.

How do I know if this is working? I know the pain is far less than if I hadn't taken the remedy at all but it is still enough to annoy me and have me walk around with a hot water bottle!

I am afraid I might end up taking those dreaded painkillers again! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Vicky

Hi Vicky,

I had an email yesterday from Dr Sayeed Ahamad that his computer was on the blink and that he was sending it for repairs.

I note that you are suffering from severe pain with your period and if the Mag Phos 6x he prescribed did not help you can use the 30x or any potency that is still higher like 30c or 200c. If you use the higher potencies restrict your dosage to not exceed 4 times daily.

I would suggest that you use Mag Phos 6x a day or two before you expect your period next month as it helps to avert the pain that you suffer from every month. You can take 2 tablets thrice daily 2 days prior to your next period and you can continue taking it for as long as you feel the need.

Vicky,

I'm so sorry to hear that you are still experiencing such intense pain. :-(

How did the gynecologist appointment go? Have you gotten a diagnosis?

I hope you are able to find a treatment and cure for this! It sounds like such a difficult thing to have to go through every month. :-(

I wish you the very best, Vicky, and I'm really pulling for you to get well soon!
