The ABC Homeopathy Forum

seeking remedy for my son,s symptoms

Dear Dr. Sameer,

My son is 14 years old and he gets tonsilitis often, as soon as the weather is cold or when he breathes cold air. He is very sensitive. The following are his symptoms, personality characteristics, modalities.

He has big tonsils, they are always visible, he also snores at night so his adenoids might be big.

He is a very gentle boy, he cares a lot that his family is well, he actually worries about his family when he is away, ie if he is to go to camp, he worries that something might happen back home. He cries sometimes involuntarily, he says that the tears sometimes just flow and he cannot stop them
He is susceptible to colds, it starts in the throat as swollen tonsils, then it progresses to the chest, where he starts to cough for a couple of days, then he clears a lot of mucus from his throat and chest, then it is all over, until the next time he is exposed to the cold air again and the whole process start all over.

He craves meat over bread or sweets.

For the last few months he has been telling me that his bump is itchy, he scratches it then it stings when he has a bowel movement.

He has 3 warts between his big toe and second toe. He says that when he touches them they hurt. They are not very big.

He feels anxiety when he has to be amongst strangers, (camp) and he says he misses his home.

He is most comfortable with his family and he take his time meeting new people.

He also loves to eat.

I appreciate your remarks and advise.

'Dear Dr. Sameer,
My son is 5' 1'' tall, he is biracial, so he is light brown, soft curly hair, brown eyes and hair, medium build, weighs 15o lbs, so he is not too heavy but strong,
He likes to do physical work, to play, he is good musically, he sings all the time, generally happy but he also gets into these 'sad' moods suddenly and he stays in that sadness until it passes.

Very good disposition always willing to help, one could say he is almost too considerate sometimes, he is very empathetic of others' feelings and situations.

He likes very strong tasting foods, for example hot sauses, mustard, ketchup. I am concerned with his liking the hot sauces because he is so young for it.'

Okay, please talk more about his response to music...

and....

' he is good musically, he sings all the time'

sameervermani last decade
Dear Dr. Sameer,
My son's response to music: He sings a lot, most mornings he starts the day singing. Music gives him a lot of pleasure. when he was only 3 years old he used to go on the piano and pretend to play it, the music that came from that was very lovely. He is very artistic, his art work at school is impeccable, very precise.

He has white spots on his fingernails sometimes, and he gets cracks behing his ears.

I would be glad to answer any more questions.

Dear Dr. Sameer,
I should also add that his nose is almost always plugged which forces him to breathe through his mouth. This of course aggravates the tonsils.

Thank You.

Hi Marika,

There are strong indications for few remedies, but his strong response to music , and sudden periods of 'Sadness' makes me go for Carcinosin.

Please procure Carcinosin 30c, which country do you stay in ?

sameervermani last decade
Dear Dr. Sameer,

I live in Canada and am sure I can get Carcinosin 30c.

His 'cold' and 'cough' symptoms are worse in wet, damp weather. We had gone to Europe lasr summer, with the hot-dry weather his nose cleared right up immediately, and when we returned to Canada, his nose plugged up again almost the same day.

How many doses of Carcinosin 30C should I give him?

Thank You

Marika last decade
Three doses of Carcinosin 30c to be given for ONE single day ONLY as described below.

Dissolve 2 pellets of Carcinosin 30c in a 250 ml spring water bottle. If leave the pellets in water for 20 mins, they will melt. You can shake it gently after they have dissolved.

Give him a teaspoon from this bottle using a disposable spoon 3 times, spaced by 30 minutes. This is to be done for one day ONLY.

Let me know in 7 days after these 3 doses.

Restrictions:

1/. Nothing should enter the mouth for 40 minutes prior to, or after taking the remedy.
2/. Do not touch the tablets with your hands, tip them into the cap of the container they came in and then into the water .
3/. Avoid coffee, tea (including green), and other sources of caffeine such as some fizzy drinks and large amounts of chocolate, except where this would cause a drastic change in consumption
4/. Avoid wearing perfume/aftershave, or exposure to anything with a strong smell on the day and 3 days following the remedy administration. This includes any and all essential oils, and incense.
5/. Avoid the consumption of excessively spicey foods
6/. The use of medicinal herbs, either as 'teas' or supplements should be avoided during Homoeopathic treatment, as should the use of over the counter medication, unless this has been recommended by an MD.
7/. Nothing of a medicinal nature should be applied to the skin

Dear Dr. Sameer,
I did exactly as you told me to do: gave my son the perscribed remedy, and 7 days later, here is what has happened.

The first day he took it, it was early evening and he went to bed very early, he wanted to sleep.

The next day his nose ran a bit then this symptom went away.

He has not asked for red meat since he took the remedy, but he says he finds that he craves chocolate, he has bought a couple of chocolate bars.
Usually I do not bring sweets or candy home, no pop, so he found it a little strange that he asked for chocolate.

He craves chichen wings with hot sauce, he has asked for this 2x now.

He finds that he is able to eat less and feel satisfied, he is less greedy with food.

(He is not overweight, and quite athletic but he is greedy with food.)

His bum is still itchy and he scratches it, and then it stings him.

His personality is quite the same, he says that he has not had a 'cry easily' spell so far,

He still sings all the time.
(Is this a symptom?)

He does not do very well in the sun and he wilts quite easily if the weather is hot and humid. Dry heat is better for him.

Sometimes he feels jealous. If his sister has done something, he will express that he wants to do it too.

Today is the 7th day since he has had the remedy, and he has a cold.
His throat is sore, his nose is running and sometimes he feel shivery. This is a similar cold that almost the whole class has had over the last 3 weeks.

If you need more information, please ask me.

I really really appreciate your advice.
Sincerely
Marika

Dear Marika,

Please wait for 1 more week. If there are no changes by that time, we will move on to the next remedy.

Dear Dr. Sameer,

It has now been 14 days since I first gave my son Carcinosin. Here are the course of events:

His cold has cleared. It has progressed normally as other colds have in the past. He has had a lot of mucus cleared from the lungs and throat.

I believe his voice may be starting to change, as it may be sounding a bit raspy. this I believe is normal at this age. He is 14.

I have noticed something interesting. He has been more 'willing to do his homework' without me reminding him, he is a good student but he may be a bit negligent sometimes, or he may say 'ya, ya I know I have to do it'

In the last few days however, he has been doing his work first thing in the morning before school, or soon after he comes from school. This past weekend he must have done at least 4 hours of homework without any reminding. Certainly it shows some level of maturity or change, quite quickly.

He still snores at night because of his large tonsils.

His bum is still itchy.

His is still very soft and sweet, always willing to do for others, maybe too much. You would say he is a 'pleaser personality'

He does not do very well in the sun. He warms up fast, but he is sensitive to damp cold.

Another interesting quality about him that I have noticed and he also has commented on, He gets suspicious. For example: if I am in the next room talking to his sister, perhaps in a low voice, he might think that we are talking about him and he comes over to check. 'I thought you were saying something about me', he will say. He is somewhat 'paranoid' -this term he has used to describe his behaviour, wondering if people talk about him.

Would you recommend removing his tonsils? I hesitate doing this knowing their function, but he is very conscious of his snoring, when at sleepovers with friends, as a result he stays up waiting until others are asleep, or he avoids sleepovers all
together.

He is more controlled with his eating. Before he would eat just because something tasted good, now he is saying 'All I need for lunch is a sandwich and an apple'

So there have been these positive changes, perhaps not in the areas I firstr wrote about, but good shifts nonetheless.

I am very grateful for your advice,
Sincerely

Hi,

Now things are starting to improve on the mental front.

So, let us keep waiting , update me in 1 week, and please keep Carc 200c at hand.

Do not give it without talking to me.

sameervermani last decade
Do not even thin about removing the tonsils as that will invariably make his case 'incurable' in many ways. Once an organ is removed, the Vital Force does not have all the means to achieve cure.

sameervermani last decade
Daar Dr. Sameer,
I share the same view, that is why I have not done it.

Too bad mine were removed at age 12.

Dr. Sameer, would you take my case too, I certainly have my own issues.

If yes, could I start another thread?

Sincerely

Dear Dr. Sameer,
I am supposed to report back to you of my son's progress.

He is fine, tonsils are still big, he has had some little rash appear on the right eyelid, it is not a stye- he has had those before, it seems more like 'raised bumps' on the eyelid.

A couple of days ago he said something like ' I wish I had a juicy steak right now'. An expression of craving red meat.

He has not had the 'sad' feelings yet, or should I say the 'crying, tearful for now reason' episodes.

I have ordered carcinosinum 200c as instructed but it has not arrived yet. I think they said on Monday it might be here.

I find that he feels more comfortable if he does what is acceptable and common.

For example, doing what the crowd is doing just to be accepted, not raise any waves, not having arguments.

He is sensitive to arguments, loud feelings, he does not always verbalize his feelings, I try to get him to tell me in words what he means, instead of saying
'Whatever...' and walking away.

If I think of anything else I will write it.

Very grateful, as always

Hmm.. let us wait for 1 more week, as there are changes happening (rash on the eye lid).

Please update me next Saturday.

sameervermani last decade
Dear Dr. Sameer,
I am writing this time because I am asking you to help me by suggesting a remedy for myself.

I have been in so much pain for the last 2 weeks I cannot take it anymore. I do not want to do isopathic prescribing ie take arnica for joint pain.

My pain is very severe in my joints, hips, and knees. I have had 13 surgeries there since a child due to congenital hip dislocation and as a result I am now experiencing degenerative arthritis. The pain also radiates in the muscles, all around the joints.

I am better with heat though not damp, better with dry heat, and I do not really do well in the sun for long periods of time.

I am overweight, the majority of weight on the hips, I do not walk very much, only a little when I am not in pain. Even when I do a little walking, the pain exaggerates and discourages me.

I am quite a sensitive person, I feel readily another person's feelings, very empathetic of other's plight.

I do not like direct attention from others, though I do like to be appreciated.
I could say that I crave carbohydrates, but also dairy products which I avoid because I feel they congest my ears (yogurt or milk is worse for that than cheese.)

For the last 5 weeks I have been experiencing vertigo( diagnosed as benign positional vertigo), whenever I turned my head the whole room would go spinning. It lasted fully 18 days, then it eased up enough so I can drive. Right now it is 80% gone but sometimes when I go to lift up my head from the bed, I feel the same feeling that I am dizzy. So it has not cleared up completely.

My ears feel somewhat sore or definitely itchy, and sometimes they make a slight popping sound.

About one month ago I took Nat Carb 200c, because it seemed to me to fit some of my personality symptoms, I could not decide whether I need nat mur or calc carb, I am not a homeopath, and I do not really want to self prescribe, I do get desperate sometimes however because I get panic attacks, where I feel so desperate and helpless because I fall apart so easlily and without much cause. I am 51, menses stopped aroung age 45, and I have not been the same since. All my symptoms used to be worse I was a wreck, but now it is better, but I would like to feel strong and healthy both emotionally and physically.

I do not take medication for pain, I figured I have had enough drugs with all my surgeries, but the pain does get too much to bear.

I am not the complaining type but it seems that I suffer silently (at least my kids tell me so)
And as far as joint replacemetns go, how could I possibly have 4 joints replaced?

I have had the chichen pox, the measles, whooping cough, diptheria and typhoid fever, for the last two I am sure they gave me antibiotics as a child.

I have had kidney stones, ages, 14,18 and 27.

When I was 20 yrs old I was given nat mur by a homeopath.

I most likely overeat, I definitely need to lose weight, and I know that but I do not exercise and that compounds my problems.

I also have heartburn almost every time I eat, but wheat(and other starches) makes it way worse than any other food.

I would really really appreciate any suggestions you might have for me.

Sincerely

Hi Marika,

Please make a new thread and copy this info over.. I will respond in a few days..

Dear Dr. Sameer,
I am supposed to update you on my son's health.
He is doing well, the little bumps on the left eyelid are now also on the right eyelid as well.

I can say that he is starting to slip back into his oversensitive side again, ie., the other day he was hearing a song that had the lyrics 'I am missing you....' and, he, imagining that we his family might ever miss him if he had gone away actually brought tears to his eyes which he quickly tried to conceal by leaving the room.
He cares a lot about his family and how they feel. Sometimes I think he cares more about hurting others than he himself feeling hurt. (or at least he is equally as sensitive.)

He is very empathetic and can never really hurt another.

He also gets easily overwhelmed and frustrated. If I say :'It is now time to get this homework done, it is already Saturday afternoon,', he will quickly respond in frustration 'I know, I know you don't have to tell me,' and act as if I have been telling him to do his work for the last hour.
He meets new situations with apprehension and caution and is most comfortable if a member of his family is there too. He needs security, or rather, he needs to know where he is going.

Thank you very much, I appreciate your care.

Hello Dr.Sameer,

It is well over 2 weeks and I should report on my son's progress.

The physical symptoms are as follows:

A few days after he took the Carc.200 he had an enlarged lymph node just behind the right ear and a little lower. this lasted one day, the spot was a little warm but it went back to normal condition a few hours later.
His tonsils are still large but he has not complained of a sore thoat yet. He still breathes through the mouth, because his nose is usually plugged (this causes the throat to be sore).

He craves red meat still, eventhough he will eat anything really, but his cravings are clearly meaty, though he eats quite a bit of fruit.
He does not like chicken very much, but will eat it, and salad as well. His preferences are still strong tastes.

His bum is still itchy, he kind of wilts in the sun- we have had some warm days, and he prefers the cooler environments.

Mentally and emotionally:
He has shown expressed anger and frustration (sometimes unreasonably) by clenching his fists and mouthing off to me. To be honest I was glad to see his feelings expressed, usually he would run outside or upstairs, but now he is more willing to argue to get his point across or even say something to me like: 'You think you know everything all the time, don't you.' For his age it is more of a normal behaviour to talk back than bury his feelings.

He has not cried 'for nothing', or if he has-the other day something happened at school with his teacher and when he started telling me he started crying, but he comented 'Look at me, I am crying already and I have not even told you what it is about yet.' I have not seen him crying for no reason for a long time. He is still a wonderful boy.

He still sings quite a bit, he likes seeing how he can work his singing ability and comes up with great interpretations.

I have forgotten to say that he is not vaccinated and has not had anti-biotics.

Regards,

Hi Marika,

Please give him 3 doses of Pulsatilla 30c .

The dosage procedure is same as before. Report in 10 days.

sameervermani last decade
Hello Dr,

I have not had access to a computer thus my long silence.

My son is doing well, he seems to be maturing, school is out now and he has deciced to put himself on a working-out program of sit-ups, running and general exercises. he does this every day.

He still likes meat, but now he is conscious of eating less, he eats only when he is hungry, not just because the food is there.

He has told me that a few times he has experienced some symptoms which could be called asthma: sometimes when he runs, 'he feels like there is not enough air to breathe in' and he asked me if there is 'an organic puffer'. I told him that I would not be getting any puffers but I would see to get him a remedy.

Emotionally:
Towards the end of the school year when work was piling up, I noticed that he would get easily overwhelmed, which resulted in him getting frustrated and did not want to hear any comments from me about having to take one thing at a time and relaxing about things. This he demonstrated with putting his hands on is ears, and telling me to stop with the reminders. He becomes very easily irritated and overwhelmed with any instruction, and unreasonable about it too. His sister tells him that he spases out too easily. That makes it hard to communicate. It has happened a few times, he ends up either crying and going away to another room or he tells everyone to leave him alone. That is only when he gets overwhelmed or confused about his schoolwork,(as when he is under pressure) but if I tell him to do a chore around the house he is usually willing to do it with no difficulty.

His involuntary crying has stopped, but he is still very sensitive and considerate of others, he had his friends over for two days and he was so accomodating, always making sure his friends were comfortable and getting what they needed. That is not so usual for a boy his age. He is very considerate and kind.

Things are going well, he still snores when he is sleeping, I forgot to tell you that his tongue is quite wide in his mouth, and it has a crack down the middle.

Thank you ever so much for everything.
