Hi Marika,

I am extremely happy that the treatment has made him stronger.

That is always very satisfying result.

Now, we need to resolve some of the physical issues as well.

So, when he gets angry, does he repent it later? If yes, how soon does that happen ?

Hello Sameer,
He repents soon after. If he has exchanged some words with his sister and it is his fault, he will soon come around and say 'I am sorry I was being a fool, are you ok?'

He does not want to hurt the other, if he does, he rectifies it. I have noticed that he may need a while to think about it-like half hour to an hour or less, depending on the situation. He is considerate of the other person, but he still stands his ground and that is good to see. I believe that the treatment has helped him in that regard.

I really appreciate all your work,
with great thanks,
Marika

And, you are pretty certain that there is a metallic odor from mouth ?

sameervermani last decade
Well, there is definitely an odour from the mouth, it is distinguishably strong, maybe it smells like sick, or infection, I know when I smell it something is up, he will tell me 'I have a cold or my throat is sore'. This smell is usually the predecessor of his colds.

It is worth mentioning here that before, the colds would start like this, smelly throat, sore throat, then the tight chest, then the the cough, he would have to stay in bed for a couple of days or more, then the cough would be loose enough to cough it out.

Lately, his colds are just what happened in the last few days. He had a sore throat, his energy was a little low, he still went to school, and today when he came from school I purposely checked his throat, it does not smell at all, but his tonsils are still very big.

As you can see, the picture of his colds is also different. They dont stay around for too long. -Another significant improvement as a result of his treatment. It looks like he has gotten sturdier both inside and out.

He had had big tonsils ever since I can remember. This bothers him and he wants to get them out, but I am not prepared to do anything like that. It may be possible that his nose diaphragm is obstructing his breathing thus the snoring and apnea.

I have not taken him to the doctor for that, I already know what they will tell me-to remove his tonsils.

Thank you,
Marika

Please give him 3 doses of Mezereum 30c in water, and report after 10 days.

Is this for skin ailments?

Marika last decade
This is a fairly broad remedy, indicated here because of the following peculiars:

Cracked tongue in the center
Metallic odor from the mouth
Syphilitic throat affections

Thank you, I appreciate the exolanation.

Hello Sameer,

I have had some setbacks and so I gave him the remedy a little later.
I have noticed that the tonsils are the same size, but his snoring is a little less noisy.

The smell in his throat is gone now that he does not have a cold, I need to wait for that time to see if I smell it again. My kids tell me my nose is way too sensitive.

Happy New Year,
Marika

Hi Marika,

Let us wait a bit longer then and see if the cold comes back again with the smell in the throat.

How about the crack in middle of the tongue ?

Sameer

The crack in the middle is still there, may not be so 'deep'.I have to try hard to remember exactly how it was.

Okay, please report in another week.

sameervermani last decade
Hello Sameer,

I did not realize that I was supposed to report back in a week no matter what happened. I have been waiting to observe the development of a cold and throat smell.

Well, he does spend a lot of time outside in the winter wonderland, playing hockey and skating. Once in a while, I do smell that distinctive smell in the throat, it lasts about a day or two and then goes away. It has not developed into a serious cold, chest episodes et. That pattern has decreased by 90%, I have mentioned this before in a previous post.

Another thing that I must let you know of, is, one night he asked me to massage his feet (tired after hockey) and I noticed much to my happy surprise that all the little bumps on his feet and between his toes are gone. I believe they were warts and I had been concerned about that, because he was taping them when being barefoot at karate. Now all those things are gone, vanished. I feel this to be a big victory.

What concerns him the most right now is the snoring, (it concerns me too, I read all these things about apnea) He wants me to take him to the doctor 'and do something about it'. I have not done yet, simply because they may suggest tonsillectomy and adenoid removal. I am trying to avoid that but I am not sure if he might pressure me to take him to the doctor.
He is very conscious about his snoring, I totally understand that. His tonsils are definitely out of their pockets and into the throat.

Mentally he is quite 'normal' I would say, he sometimes gets critical with other people's way: lately I am hearing him criticizing a teacher's methods of teaching, 'she is not teaching us anything, not doing her job and then expects us to do well on the exam.'
So I go into the lecture 'mind your business, you are the student and you are supposed to do your job right by studying the textbook'. I have heard him go on about this subject a few times now. He does do his homework however.
I have also heard him say :If I know what I am doing, I don't like getting instructions.

I think that is the most noticeable features about my son.
Thank you,
Marika

Hi Marika,

Please find out what is the exact thing going with this throat. Are the tonsils enlarged ? Are the adenoids enlarged ?

It would be helpful to have the exact diagnosis as to what is going in there.

Hello Sameer,
I know that the tonsils are definitely enlarged. I was hesitating, in case they make me take his tonsils out. I did not want to put my in a situation of no return.

Hi Marika,

Please do not think about the removal as that can be very harmful in the long run.

I just want a precise diagnosis to attack the problem in a more accurate manner.

Hello Sameer,
I have taken my son to the doctor, they are to make an appointment with a specialist to see his 'nose and throat' problem, that has not happened yet.

I am writing today because he has just gotten over a cough and cold week, is now back in school, but there is still some coughing even though he is up. It sounds like it is almost leaving but I am hearing it rolling aroung in there, kind of deep in the chest. He says it is coming up but doesn't soung like it to me.
I would like to give him something if it is appropriate at this stage of his treatment because he is playing rugby almost everyday. His energy level is ok, and his mental attitude is ok too.
In the last couple of months he is on this fitness kick, his body is visibly changing, whatever 'childhood fat' he had is gone, he is getting taller and leaner. Other than this cold and cough he is ok.
Maybe there is something I can give him to help his organism to get rid of the last stage of the cough, I would really appreciate your advice.
Sincerely
Marika

What makes the cough better/worse ?

What times of the day is it better/worse ?

Any other symptoms that started with this cough ?

What else has changed since this cough ?

sameervermani last decade
Hello Sameer,

the cough has almost entirely cleared up, he might still cough when maybe he laughs hard and excites the lungs a bit.

How did it start?
A combination of being out all the time in the cold weather (skating, hockey) something which he enjoys very much of course, but my theory is that if and when he drinks milk (in cereal in the morning) it is a matter of time before we get the cough. I believe his chest fills up with mucous and he needs to clear it up. I have come to this theory from experiencing the same over and over. that is the reason why I don't bring milk in the house, but it is such an easy breakfast. In the summer weather it does not happen, so the cold weather must contribute greatly to this pattern.

It is also evident that he has grown taller in the last little while. Literally in the last 10 days he has gotten taller, so maybe his body needed to use up the energy for that. He is doing well in school, he is having a bit of a personality conflict with one of his teachers, and as he said yesterday 'When I see or hear injustice I have to say something, I can't stay silent.' According to his teacher, he spoke up out of line in order to defend his friend. Nothing too serious though, it is all worked out today.
the rest of his teachers actually said that he is a very mature student for his age and an asset to have in the class. So things are good at school.

What has changed?
The biggest change is that he is maturing, it is happening right in front of our eyes, he wants to keep fit, he wants to work during the summer, play soccer, learn to drive, etc. I think he himself is feeling the change too, and taking more responsibility for himself, for example he says things like, 'I want to buy things, so I am going to work to earn money.'
I believe he is on the right track for sure.
If I think of anything else I will write it, he still has the crack in the middle of his tongue, the tongue is clean not white.

Thank you,
Marika

Hi Marika,

I think if he has recovered from the cough, we can continue to wait and watch.

hello sameer, I am marika's daughter. we recently went to a specialist to assess my brother's snoring, and i would like to communicate what the specialist told us if it is of interest to you.

He mentioned that my brother's adenoids were quite small and that he was concerned about the constant nasal congestion. He referred him to a doctor who does allergy tests and gave him a nasal steroid to help open up the nasal passages. my mother asked my brother not to take the steroid, saying it would reverse the homeopathic treatment.

The specialist also offered up the possiblity of removing the tonsils, as he said that it was likely the cause of my brother's excessive snoring. However, because the procedure is considered cosmetic, it would be expensive, and not necessarily effective. He said there was a 20% chance it wouldn't affect the snoring. So he just offered up the possibility.

Thanks sameer, my mother is very grateful for your effort and expertise
sincerely

Hello Sameer,

My daughter updated you on the results of the appointment with the doctor, and the allergy specialist's tests showed that he is allergic to dust mites, ragweed and grasses.

It was good to hear that the adenoids are a normal size, so we are left with the tonsils being large and coming out of their pockets.
At the present time, I am not seeing any mental symptoms that are of any concern. He is doing really well, quite a balanced young man.

If you have any suggestions re:the allergies, please let me know.
thank you,
Marika

Very nice to hear about the stable mental front.

Can you try to summarize the physical concerns in a list of sorts? Please make sure, you mention the following for each problem :

-Location
-Sensation
-Concomitants (which other symptoms in other body parts accompany this complaint?)
-Modalities (times of aggravation, what makes it better/worse)

In addition, general modifiers (things that in general make him feel better/worse) should be mentioned.

Also, does he have any strong food cravings or aversions ?

Yes, it is so good to see the stability on the mental front. The extreme emotional reactions have even(ed) out, he is easy to talk to and he expresses himself much more easily-feels more confident about himself. The other day he said something like 'I still don't want to hurt peoples feelings, but I will talk if I have to.' and at the same time, I have heard him say 'If a person is an idiot they need to be dealt with' or something of that sort.
Sometimes I see that he may enjoy confrontation when he could easily let some things go. Perhaps it is the age.

I forgot to mention that the doctor gave him a cortico-steroid cream to apply in the nose to clear it up when it is stuffed. I have not let him use it. His nose stuffs up in the damp weather more than dry weather, generally dampness is not good for him, it also causes him to have wheezy chest. This is aggravated by drinking milk, I am convinced of that but he disagrees with me.

If and when he comes close to hay or runs in a field of grass in the spring, he gets stuffy, runny nose and eyes. the typical allergy symptoms. Same when in a dusty environment, even when we are cleaning and vaccuuming here at home, he will wear a mask so as to prevent these symptoms. Also the back of his throat will get itchy with dust exposure.

He is better outside in the fresh air rather than in a stuffy room and I would say he likes spicy foods and prefers red meat to chicken.

I am trying to think of what he may have an aversion to; I may ask him tomorrow and write it in. He is a pretty good eater most of the time, if I have bean soups he will eat them but may not have a second serving.
He likes to cook and when he does he almost always makes it too hot for the rest of us. He likes his sauces.

He still has the skin patch of pin-like marks on his clavicle.

Anything else about him which is peculiar ?

Based on the information you gave, lot of remedies come up.

sameervermani last decade
Hello Sameer,
I will pay special attention to what might be peculiar. the only thing that I can think of so far is that he is so young and he snores. When he just started walking he had very bow legs, then I gave him Calc phos. tissue salts I believe and his legs straightened.
He took a very long time to talk. He was three years old before he even said one word, but he was paying very attention to everything
around him.
Once as a very young baby he fell off the bed onto the floor (rolled off me as I fell asleep) but did not even cry at all.

I will write anything else that I may think peculiar.
Thank you
Marika
