silicea reaction
It's been a week since I started taking Silicea 6x 4 times a week against a chronic skin/hair follicle infection.I am sure that it caused that condition to improve; I'm indeed surprised with the efficacy.
On the other hand, 10 minutes to one hour after I take it, my legs, hips, back, arms start itching - a lot! Also, some of those regions have acquired a rough, dry, sandy appearance due to the effects of the Silicea. Also, a few blood blisters appeared on my back.
What should I do? Increase potency? Decrease frequency? Please help!!! :)

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
The old homeopaths used to alternate remedies - sul & nux V for instance .
With Silica suggest you try a dose [1] of Fluoric Acid aftre each 2 doses of Sil.
Other alternative is Pulsatilla.
Hope this helps.

Great, thanks!
I was trying to develop a deeper understanding of your suggestion and, in James Tyler Kent's writings, I found a very good explanation of the interaction between Silicea, Pulsatilla and Fluoricum Acidum, which I'm posting here for other people who eventually might read this thread.

So -- thanks for the good advice!... I wouldn't have found that without your help :)
I am still a bit confused by potencies/frequency though. Would you advise me in that regard?

SLICEA is not to be used more than once per week. It is deep and very long acting.
The alternate is good suggestion. Take it easy.
Keep posting. I am watching for something. Sabra

PS. Find someone with a strong professional microscope and scrape a tiny bit of the irritated area on slide and examine closly. Report. S.

Mmmmm. It's been less than a month since I started this thread/treatment and I am VERY :) surprised with the results.
The condition that led me to take Silicea was a chronic infection on hair follicles (there's an unsuccessful thread describing it:
http://www.abchomeopathy.com/forum2.php/12175 ) that lasted for ~5 years and is now cured.
What happened in this last month?
I was taking Silicea 6X, got that reaction. Got advice and took Pulsatilla - about 5 doses of 200C over the month. Also, took 3 doses of Silicea 1M over that period. Kept taking Silicea 6X - and here I decided not to follow the advice - I took it 3 times a day. The violent reaction I was having stopped after 2 weeks. My intuition was telling me so much to keep taking a lot of the 6X... Whatever. I am not sure whether the treatment was optimal, but it worked wonders :)))
I'll post again if something funny happens or - after a couple months - if the problem does not come back at all.
Thanks passkey and sabra!!! Your advice was very valuable and hinted me that I was going in a good direction. :)
Oh sabra - I did not hassle with going to a lab, even though I should have done it and it was great advice... Maybe I'll regret it if the thing comes back ;)

Argh! - I reviewed this thread now. In the first post I said I was taking " Silicea 6x 4 times a week", but it was 4 times a *DAY*. Oh my. I'm a bit dyslexic like that. (It's that Hyland's bottle, they inscribe it with "take it 4x a day"). Tsc, tsc.

Arnica is **not a panacea**. If you feel any problem after taking Arnica, better stop it and then come back to this forum - prescribers here will be able to help you.

Is there any long term side effects of taking Silicea 6X?
I was taking it for around 2 months, 3 times a day. Take a total of 50g tablets. So, was worried if anything bad happens.
My local doctor isn't suggesting Silicea 6X but gave a liquid medicine containing Acid Phos. I think he may be faking because I won't back to him if he asks me to continue with the current medication. Recently I got Chicken Pox and I was wondering if Silicea had any role in this.
Please, someone help me clearing my doubts!

Often, one of the signs that you have found the right remedy is a TEMPORARY aggravation of the symptoms.
For non-Rx strengths, if you don't need a homeopathic remedy, it's not supposed to do anything to you. It either benefits you, or does nothing.
However, if you go to the extreme, and take way, way too much, then you can become what is called a 'prover', and actually cause symptoms. I was told by my CAM college instructor that if you don't exceed the guidelines given on the bottle, and it's an over the counter strength, it's impossible for you to become a 'prover'. Also, once a 'prover' stops taking the remedy, the symptoms will subside. Based on this info., I highly doubt that there would be any lasting negative effects for taking a silicea remedy for only 2 months.
You may want to check your local library for books on the subject. One really good one is 'The Patient's Guide to Homeopathic Medicine' by Ullman, N.D. It's a small easy to read book that may answer a lot of your questions (it did for me). My library had tons of much thicker books on the subject, but this one is focused on patient questions and issues.
In regard to the person who felt dizzy after taking Arnica, if you know someone who can muscle test you for allergies, you may want to consider doing it. I had to do NAET treatments on a few remedies before I could actually take them. Many of the books on NAET and BioSet give self helps on allergy testing at home and allergy eliminations. With the help of NAET, I am now able to take the remedies that are supposed to help with allergies, and have reduced the over all amount of NAET treatments I needed. These methods definitely compliment each other.
Also, you should really only take one remedy at a time, unless you know for sure that they will not contradict each other. It is possible for one remedy to negate the effects of another, cancelling each other out. Old school homeopaths usually only do one remedy at a time, but those who use muscle testing can usually tell if it would benefit you to take more than one, and which ones.
I hope this helps. Good luck, and God bless.
