Migraine headache, Heavy Menstrual Flow and severe cramps From [Log on to view profile] on 2008-01-23

I am 5’ 7” tall, female, big built. Age - 41. No sugar problem, BP or cholesterol. I have no children. I had thyroid ( Hypothyrodism) from 2000 to 2002. It caused very severe weight gain. Even exercising did not reduce my weight.
After taking allopathy treatment Eltroxin 1 per day on empty stomach in the morning, I’m ok now. Thyroid is under control now. I had been always been working full time for the last 15 yrs and did not exercise much. My job was extremely stressful and work load was high.

From 2007, I exercised and reduced 12 kgs ( walking) and am still trying to lose another 20 kgs so that I will reach my normal ideal wt. For the last two years I have been suffering from heavy menstrual flow and severe cramps during periods time.
More flow results in more abdominal and leg cramps. Periods are regular.
So, please help me to reduce the menstrual cramps.

2004 – Jan I got migraine from 2003. It became very severe in whole of 2004. I used to get 20 attacks in a month which became unbearable during periods time. I used to take Dolo 650 to control migraine.

In 2005 Jan, I started taking homeopathy treatment and continued till 2007 Dec. The 3 yrs treatment proved very effective and successful.

Now I get only 1 or 2 mild migraines per month ( once before period time). But sunlight triggers migraine even now.

2007 Dec – My Homeopath has left India and my Migraine treatment has come to a halt.

Now in 2008 – the intensity, severity and the frequency of my migraine attacks have reduced by 75% than what it used to be in 2004.

Still, I need to get cured completely esp. from sunlight triggered migraines. I’d be grateful if you can help me.

Main problem: Migraine

Symptom 1 Migraine caused by sensitivity to Sunlight. Even slight exposure to mild sunlight triggers severe migraine.

Due to this, I have to use umbrella even for short distance during the day to avoid sun. I’m unable to stand near the balcony or window when it is sunny as it causes migraine

Excessive body and hair sweating especially after I exercise. I have cut my hair really short to avoid excessive sweating.

Symptom 2 Lack of proper ventilation triggers Migraine and heaviness on top of the head which lasts 24 hrs. Esp if I’m in a room with no open windows, all doors closed, no A/C. Sweat causes heaviness of head and migraine.

Generally what I do: When I get migraine, I take dolo 650 which is effective. If I do not take Dolo 650 migraine continues even for 5 hrs. After the migraine disappears,

I take hot water hair wash. Only then, I feel better and the migraine does not recur. Even in summer, I am not able to use cold water on hair as it causes heaviness on top of the head. Pl help me.

nat mur is the probable remedy.

Re: Migraine headache, Heavy Menstrual Flow and severe cramps From Dr Tahira on 2008-01-23

Keeping in mind your heavy menstrual flow i will not recommend NAT MUR becuase it can increase the flow.Your symptoms are indicating that you have hydrogenoid constitution.

I hope GLONINUM 30 will suite you.One dose daily for a week. Dr.Tahira

Re: Migraine headache, Heavy Menstrual Flow and severe cramps From rishimba on 2008-01-23

how is your thirst? Good

how is your bowel movement? Good

how is your appetite? do u skip meals sometimes and feel ok. No, I never skip food. i have breakfast, lunch and dinner on time.

what do u crave: salt, sweet, sour.
Generally i like sweets but i have avoided sweets since 2007 jan to lose wt. I have lost 12 kgs now.

describe your personality. I'm sensitive, private, diplomatic and do not like to hurt others. I have one or two close friends only, and 8- 10 good friends in office. I like to read books. I do not make new friends easily.

are you sensitive to environmental stimuli, such as sound, light, smell etc. yes. Harsh lights and loud noise ( music, children playing) irritate me. I keep TV volume a bit low. I'm allergic to noise and light.

do u like thunderstorms. no

do you always depend on your husband to take decisions even on minor issues. No. I am independent. Yet, i would like to discuss the pros and cons on major issues with him and then decide mutually.

MY QUERIES I agree with you. Even my homeopath said that I have Hydrogenoid constitution.

My homeopath had prescribed Lachesis 200 1 dosage.Nat Mur from the beginning of my treatment in 2005 and 06. it has proved very effective in reducing the frequency and intensity of my migraine. However, GLONINUM 30 , Pulsatilla was prescribed in Aug 2007. It is very effective too.

Dr Tahira - Keeping in mind your heavy menstrual flow i will not recommend NAT MUR becuase it can increase the flow - Yes, my menstrual flow has increased during the last 2 years exactly when I took this Nat Mur treatment.
My constitution is closer to Nat Mur exactly. Still I’m happy with Nat Mur becos my migraine has drastically reduced by 75%

So, my final question – out of the three medicines you mentioned Nat Mur, lachesis and Glonium 30, please clarify which medicine and dosage should I buy now.

I thank you once again for your prompt response and medical advice.

In my opinion,GLONINE 30 will suite you becuase your migraine due to sunlight is indicating conjestion in the arteries and glonine subsides it.In case of severe cramps,MAG PHOS 6x fours tablets or four drops can be used.In routine, the schedule can be following,
Morning-Glonine 30
Evening-Mag Phos 6x
After one week use these medicines only when symptoms require them.
