Panic Attacks

Hey
I am 23F, a recent university graduate..going to graduate school. Since I was 16 years old I have suffered panic attacks. I only get them when I am speaking publicly (:s) (this is how I first found out), doing any presentation ( although sometimes, I feel I can control them and the symptons subside, other times I feel they are crippling me, and I cant continue. I guess when the attention is on me, I get a panic attack. I'm going to see my doctor about them soon for medication (but Ive heard stories about meds making it WORSE, but I thought Homeopathic remedy might be a little more healthier/natural....if anyone could help me with a remedy that would be amazing. The severity of them (attacks) aren't as bad as others have mentioned on this site, but when they do happen, its VERY crippling...and embaressing.
My Symptoms: heart palputations, chest tightens and I cant breath/cant take a deep breath (almost feel like im choking,my face/ears get red ....shaking/nausiated...I honestly feel like Im going to explode....but its never been that bad, but I feel just so nervous...as if im scared of failing.....
Any suggestions?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Hmm.. and can you please describe your general behaviour/temperament to me ?

I need to know all your fears, anxieties, and your likes/dislikes, your level of introversion/extroversion , attachment to the family, anything which you firmly stand by, and anything you might want to tell as a person about yourself.

Also mention about your food cravings/aversions and temperature preferences.

My general behaviour is normal...Im a happy average pretty girl who goes to school, works, and goes out. I work out, do yoga...get massages and acupuncture for fun....I dont have other problems...my mood is always good (i dont have suicidal thoughts or anything like that)....no family issues (there's nothing really i can pin point my panic attacks on)...
I worry mostly about failing school which is strange because I graduated with high distinction (85&+ avg)....I worry about not succeeding I guess...not being/doing the best I can. I fear people are judging me...not just anyone, but for example an evaluator or someone like that.
I love my family and friends and my life and I am proud of myself. There is nothing that I really dislike...(that is relevant to say here...)...im very attached to my family, have a great life with them.. they are very supportive
I crave sweet foods/desserts sometimes.....and do not like salty that much. I'd rather be warm than cold...but being in a warm environment its something hard to take a deep breath.
I dont often get panic attacks....pretty rarely maybe like 1-2 mild, however, Ive had bigger episodes which were very severe. I sometimes feel that i can control them...for example, I can think of situation where it might occur, and I can feel my chest tighten, but I can relax myself at that point...and it goes away....
I drink alot of diet coke....I think it may have something to do with the amount of caffeine i am intaking?....That may be I think one of the root causes of this I think, but Im not sure
I don't fear anything so deeply that I can write about here...what I worry about though is for example my performance during a presentation...and this is a time where i can get a panic attack

Are you of a mild/yielding disposition ?

Do you have any fear of pointed objects or pins ?

How sensitive and emotional are you ?

Do you cry readily ?

Would you consider yourself a person with covictions but one who does not argue for them, just keeping the viewpoint quietly ?

Do you have 'Anxious conscientiousness over small details' ?

sameervermani last decade
i have a mild disposition

I do not have fear of pointed objects or pins, unless someone was actually attempting to kill me with one, i.e. a knife

I do not cry randomly, I only cry for emotional/sad movies or if there was a death in the family

Yes, sometimes I will keep the viewpoint quietly, other times I wont. It depends on my setting/environment and who I am speaking with. But this 50/50

No I do not have an anxious conceientiousness over small details

How sympathetic are you towards other people's problems ?

How bubbly/excitable are you ?

Would you call your general nature as extrovert and outgoing or are you an introvert?

Also tell me how do you respond to consolation/sympathy ? Do you like it or you tend to feel worse from it ?

sameervermani last decade
1. I am sympathic towards peoples problems, if I care about them i.e. a friend. if its a random, i dont care
2. I am bubbly around people that I know...even first meet at work...but may be a little shy around others.....People dont think I am shy by any means. usually Im a big talker/socializing type
3. when I was a kid, i was very shy when meeting new people....now im more outgoing, feel comfortable talking to 1-2+ people (lets say over lunch/dinner)....I would say I am somewhere in between.
I repond to consolation/sympathy well, I like it.
thanxs,

Please take 3 doses of Silicea 30c equally spaced for 1 single day only.

Dissolve 2 pellets 2 pellets of Silica 30c in a 250 ml spring water bottle. You can turn the bottle upside down a few times for the pellets to spread after dissolving.

A capful from here is 1 dose.

Let me know in 5 days after the 3 doses

1/. Nothing should enter the mouth for 40 minutes prior to, or after taking the remedy.
2/. Do not touch the tablets with your hands, tip them into the cap of the container they came in and then into the water .
3/. Avoid coffee, tea (including green), and other sources of caffeine such as some fizzy drinks and large amounts of chocolate, except where this would cause a drastic change in consumption
4/. Avoid wearing perfume/aftershave, or exposure to anything with a strong smell while under treatment. This includes any and all essential oils, and incense.
5/. Avoid the consumption of excessively spicey foods
6/. The use of medicinal herbs, either as 'teas' or supplements should be AVOIDED during Homoeopathic treatment, as should the use of over the counter medication, unless this has been recommended by an MD.
7/. Nothing of a medicinal nature should be applied to the skin

Thanxs,
I thought 'Silica' was for hair though?. Could you tell me how silica would help my panic attacks?
Also, what about other remedies mentioned around this site, like gelsemium, or aconite?

Thanxs for the help!
very appreciated

There is no 'this for that' medicine in homeopathy. Homeopathy cures the root cause of disease by inducing a dynamic (spirit like), medicinal disease in the body which is the MOST SIMILAR to the natural disease. Hence the medicine is for a person, as it is the person who is sick.

Your symptoms are very similar to Silica and it is not just a medicine for 'hair' , it is a multi-miasmatic medicine , and when 'well indicated' it has the power to cure every disease under the sun. Infact it is one of the primary medicines for 'fear of failure' and 'fear of public speaking'. But it will only work, when the totality of symptoms and the personality type corresponds to it, and in your case, it does.

Gelsemium and Aconite are acute remedies and will not cure the root cause of disease.

Thanks you,

Is taking a multi-vitamin bought from the drug store ok?

jtanner last decade
That is ok. As long as it just has vitamins.

sameervermani last decade
Its a multi-vitamin which has vitamins and minerals..... :s should i discontinue this for a while?

Thanks,

jtanner last decade
If you can discontinue, it would be good. However, it should not affect too much.

You mentioned that you are doing yoga. You have not mentioned clearly. Please let me know whether you are doing PRANAYAMA or not? Your problem can be cured within one or two months if you do Pranayama. If you are already doing it, kindly check it with the experts, whether you are performing pranayama correctly or not?
please have totally vegetarian food, till the problem is solved. Avoid all kindly perfumes and other chemically prepared perfumes.

Yes I do yoga about once a week, sometimes less because of school commitments.
Its hot moksha yoga. I dont know what pranayama is, and I don't think they offer it in the area that I live.
Why cut out the meat?

You can try Kali Phos 30x.

dr-neo last decade
OK. who is writing all these replies, are any of you actually ND'S?
what is kali pho, and why should I take it.
I cant take both, I want a remedy that is right for me, i was told that silicea was...
this is the thing with this forum, it seems as though people are putting their them....can one doctor just respond? if there are any on this site.
Sorry not trying to be rude, but its ridiculous to say , 'oh try this, try that'.

jtanner last decade
jtanner,

Just follow the advice I gave and go ahead with the Silicea doses. On the forum everybody is free to throw remedies ( which is at times very sad), and you are right we do not just 'try' remedies, as remedies should be prescribed carefully and after taking a full case.

At times, you might have to close your ears to the ambient noise here ;)

jtanner,

did you ever take the silica ?

sameervermani last decade

I get panic attacks only during lets say an interview or presentation, i cant breathe, heart is pounding...sometimes it doesnt happen then others depending on how important it is, it will happen

jtanner last decade
Hi jtanner,

Just to make things clear, the medicine is not to be taken for long durations, the prescription was for one day only.

If you can confirm that you will take the next remedy tht I suggest for one day only as suggested, I will make the suggestion.

Sameer

sameervermani last decade
you are saying that the 'silica' was only a one day remedy only?
I didnt know that, i thought it was for the long term. Had i had known that then i would have used it for one day.
Let me know what is strong and works for panic attacks

thanks
