toddler sleep problems
15 month old breast fed boy has never slept all night. Sleeps in 2 hour stretches and will only go back to sleep after being on the breast. Otherwise very healthy, as is Mum. Active lively boy who met all physical milestones early and has already a good vocabulary of words. Sleeps 1 - 1.5 hours late AM. Happy contented boy except will not sleep well at night. Any suggestions?mpettigrew on 2009-01-03

Hi mpettigrew,
Is your toddler taking naps during the daytime? How many naps, for how long?
How is his appetite?thirst?
Does he sleep next to you? or in a toddler bed alone? Has he ever slept for the whole night?
I will try to help if you can answer all my questions.

Has never slept all night. Sleeps 1 nap of 1 - 1.5 hours in late morning, only if taken for walk in pram. Starts out for first 2 hours in own bed but ends up with Mum & Dad. Appetite small but will eat mosts everthing he is offered. No meat or dairy. Still breast fed 2 per day and thru night as required.

Hi mpettigrew,
Do you nurse him to sleep? At what time does he go to sleep at night? What time does he wake up in the morning? How many times do you nurse him at night?
I have few suggestions on changes that you can make before we start him on a medicine.
My daughter did exactly the same until she was 9 months old.
Once you answer my questions, i'll let you know what you can do!
