Tactile defensiveness

Hi! I'm new to the forum! Here is my problem:
My daughter (10 years old) has Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) with severe tactile defensiveness (has difficulty with anything touching her skin (esp. light touches). She exhibits the following symptoms:
-skin always feels prickly and tight, esp. across lower abdomen and back
-must wear very soft, loose clothing
-no socks, no tags, hates layers of clothes
-must stretch clothing (pants, shirt and panties) for at least 1 hour before dressing
-tantrums daily about getting dressed and always feels very uncomfortable in her clothing (pulls on it all day)

-During tantrums she:
-lashes out by hitting, biting and throwing things, she repeats over and over again in anger 'I hate these stupid, damn, clothes' these words have been used to refer to her whole family as well 'I hate you stupid, damn mom (dad/sisters)', she gets extremely flushed in the face, upper chest and ears, dilated pupils, heated and frantic/manic

-she will tantrum as well if accidently splashed, even by a minute amount of water/liquid

-often complains of 'wetness' in genitalia area
-phobia over spiders, doesn't even like to say the word spiders
-loves to play piano and sing
-hates group activites
-doesn't care about what she wears/looks like
-often feels chilled in the evening
-loves to climb and hang

The closest matches for her symptoms were Belladonna and Sulpher. Does anyone have any suggestions on other remedies? Dosing? Are the above remedies compatible??

Thanks for your time!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Hi Linaya,

Sulphur or Belladonna is not her remedy.

There are very strong indications for another remedy though.

However, please tell in more detail about the exact kind of aversion to touch.. is it only to light touches ? Give examples..

Also, does she have a fear of water ?

Any other fears apart from spiders ?

So any form of tight clothing aggravates her ?

Is she in general a very restless and energetic child ?

Also talk about the exact kind of music she likes and the effect it has on her ..

Hi Sameer, thanks for your quick reply! I will try and make my answers concise:

However, please tell in more detail about the exact kind of aversion to touch.. is it only to light touches ? Give examples..
-she likes deep pressure, like rolling an exercise ball over her, bear hugs, massage and she shys away from light touches on the back and shoulder

Also, does she have a fear of water ? She loves to swim - when she makes a choice to get wet, she's OK, but accidental splashing when she is not prepared, and splashing that gets her clothing wet starts a tantrum

Any other fears apart from spiders ? Seperation anxiety

So any form of tight clothing aggravates her ? YES!!

Is she in general a very restless and energetic child ?Restless over her clothing, she is constantly wiggling and pulling on her clothing. Otherwise she tends to be more lethargic than energetic.

Also talk about the exact kind of music she likes and the effect it has on her .. She loves to play the piano - she picks out songs she hears and likes and plays them by ear - she doesn't like to play using notes. She will often seek out the piano, as it is very calming to her. She loves to sing with her twin sister - I often get comments on their beautiful singing, as they sing completely in-tune with each other.

Thanks!

Hi Linaya,

Please follow this prescription exactly.

Three doses of Tarentula Hispanica 30c to be given for ONE single day ONLY as described below.

Dissolve 2 pellets of Tarent 30c in a 250 ml spring water bottle. If leave the pellets in water for 20 mins, they will melt. You can shake it gently after they have dissolved.

Take a teaspoon from this bottle using a disposable spoon 3 times, spaced by 30 minutes. This is to be done for one day ONLY.

Let me know in 5 days after these 3 doses. I look forward to your response.

Restrictions:

1/. Nothing should enter the mouth for 40 minutes prior to, or after taking the remedy.
2/. Do not touch the tablets with your hands, tip them into the cap of the container they came in and then into the water .
3/. Avoid coffee, tea (including green), and other sources of caffeine such as some fizzy drinks and large amounts of chocolate, except where this would cause a drastic change in consumption
4/. Avoid wearing perfume/aftershave, or exposure to anything with a strong smell on the day and 3 days following the remedy administration. This includes any and all essential oils, and incense.
5/. Avoid the consumption of excessively spicey foods
6/. The use of medicinal herbs, either as 'teas' or supplements should be avoided during Homoeopathic treatment, as should the use of over the counter medication, unless this has been recommended by an MD.
7/. Nothing of a medicinal nature should be applied to the skin

Hello Sameer! Thank you again for the quick reply - I will need to order the Tarentula Hispanica, as it is not one of the few remedies I have. I will let you know how things work out 5 days after I give her the recommended dosage.

Thank you again!

Sincerely,

Linaya

Hello Sameer!

I just want to let you know how things have been over the last 5 days -

I gave Hanna the dosage on Monday evening. From Tuesday to Saturday, I noticed the following change in particular - Hanna was let verbally and physically violent and much more compliant. She was still crying about her clothing while getting dressed, but that had toned slightly as well (she wasn't using the foul language and throwing things, like she usually does). However, last night (Saturday) and today, she has fallen right back into her old routine again, having huge violent tantrums, just as before. Just prior to having a melt down she will start out by staring anglily , her face will get flushed, she will begin breathing deeply, then the tantrum starts.
When spiders was mentioned last night, Hanna physically shuddered violently - her whole body- and screamed 'don't say that word!' and put her hand over her ears. She has complained considerably more than usual today of 'wetness' in her crotch area and as usual continues to pull at her clothing.

Do you think she needs a follow-up dose of the Tarentula? I was almost as if it wasn't a strong enough dose.........?

Looking forward to your reply!

Thank you for your time!

Hi Linaya,

We need to go to a higher potency of Tarentula Hispanica.

Please procure Tarentula Hispanica 200c, and do the following:

Dissolve 2 pellets in 250 ml water, and give her teaspoon from there, 3 times equally spaced by 2 hours for ONE day only.

Report in 1 week after the doses

Thank you Sameer.

I will place an order for the higher potency of Tarentula. While placing this order though, can you foresee that I will need to use any other remedy following this dosage? The reason I'm asking is that is takes 4-5 days to get a remedy in the mail; ordering more than one could save me a lot of 'tantrum' time with my daughter, and of course some shipping costs.

Thank you so much.

You might want to order Tarentula Hispanica 1M and Lachesis Mutus 30c along with the Tarentula 200c.

Hi Sameer!

It's been 5 days and she seems to be complaining about her clothing a little less. She is however complaining a lot about wetness in her genital area. She wipes herself frequently, complaining that she can't get dry. She blow dries her panties at least twice a day (because of the clothing issue, changing them is not an option, unless it is 'bath day') She still can't stand to hear the word spiders.

Should I try the Tar. Hisp. 1M?

Thank you for your continued support!

Hi Linaya,

Please wait as it is too soon to do the 1M dose. One early dose will spoil the progress.

Please wait for at-least one more week, and update me at that time.

Hi Sameer! She seems to be reacting in a less volatile way, although she continues to react. The length of her 'tantrums' are perhaps a little shorter. I think one of the reasons for this is that she has now figured out that she can stretch her clothing the night before and then takes a little less time in the morning. She is still complaining though that her bottom is wet. If she gets water on her clothing, she will still have a melt down, but she seems to be able to rationalize a little sooner (instead of screaming for 15 minutes then asking for the blow dryer, she screams for 5, then asks for the blow dryer). We continue to have difficulty getting her to wear something something new/different.(she changes her school clothes every other day, and on the weekend, if we are at home she wears the same outfit all weekend.

Thanks for your continued support.

Dissolve 2 pellets in 120 ml spring water, and give her a teaspoon from there ONCE.

Report in 10 days

1/. Nothing should enter the mouth for 40 minutes prior to, or after taking the remedy.
2/. Do not touch the tablets with your hands, tip them into the cap of the container they came in and then into the water .

Hi Sameer! I hope you had a wonderful summer! Sorry I've been out of touch for so long - We are just getting back into the school routine here!

I wanted to thank you, thank you, thank you for all you've done to help our family. My daughter Hanna had a much better summer - the best one she's had for many years! The 1M must have been what her body needed. We got her into a variety of clothing and she was generally comfortable (a lot fewer tantrums). She continues to pull at clothing in her crotch area, as she doesn't like the clothing touching her there, but otherwise it's fairly good! Just one quick question - do you think I will have to redose her to continue to have the same behavior into this winter?

Believe it or not, we are now having issues with her twin sister Casie. These are a few of her characteristics/symptoms:
-susceptible to warts (we are just getting rid of one that is on her finger, close to the palm)
-highly anxious
-low blood sugar (will have melt-downs when she goes more than 1- 1 1/2 hours without eating
-tiredness
-easily irritated
-bits fingernails
-fascinated with rocks (has a large collection of them)
-loves to cook/bake
-wants to please people
-neat and fairly organized
-injures herself regularly
-insecure
-has some minor sensitivities to clothing
-overwhlemed by small things/upsets
-picks nose
-cries easily
-when talking to people, she often gets over-excited, talking too loud, too fast and invading their personal space a little
-she sometimes has the tic of opening her mouth really wide (like you would while yawning)
-loves spending time outdoors
-easily led by the suggestions of others

I would really appreciate your input and advice on the remedy you feel would work well for her. I know this sounds odd, but I tend to worry about her a little more (I feel that she has a more susceptible constitution than her sister and can be more easily hurt by others). I had an energy healer tell me that Casie was the 'weaker twin' and she was pushed out by her stronger twin, Hanna - Hmmm?? It was interesting anyway!

Thank you Sameer! I look forward to hearing from you again when you have time!

Hi Linaya,

Very happy to hear that your daughter did well on the 1M.

We will not repeat the same potency again, as once the body has responded fully to a potency, the portion of the disease which is left behind is no longer resonant with the used potency.

Please talk to me if there is a relapse and I will tell you what needs to be done. Do not dose further without talking to me.

Can you please start another thread about your other daughter, as it gets confusing to solve 2 cases in 1 thread.

My 6 year old daughter has very similar symptoms (except for fear of the word spider). Is it recommended to begin with the 30 dose and move up as necessary, or should I just give her the 1M? She is usually helped by remedies for a short time and then symptoms return.

Would love to hear how this case turned out as well.

You cannot use someone else's symptoms for your daughter. You must open your own thread, and post her case in detail. The subtle differences matter more than the similarities between patients. Those differences can mean a completely different remedy, and we have over 10000 of them to choose from.
